ALPS RIDING TRAINING
During our years of experience taking motorcycle riders from all over the world on trips to nearly every corner of the globe, we have learned motorcyclists have different ideas about what makes a perfect road. While most motorcyclists’ description of their dream road contains words like “winding, twisty, curvy”, the mountain roads on our alpine tours take many of tour participants by surprise. A majority has never seen (except in photos), and certainly never ridden along mountain passes or roads like the Passo di Stelvio. To take the edge off of the sometimes overwhelming challenge, and to heighten fun and safety from the outset, Edelweiss now offers a riders’ training course before the start of some tours.
Contents of safety training
• Special safety briefing (dealing with motorcycle riding in general and challenges specific to that tour)
• Riding skills will be taught in a closed environment
• Riding instruction on the road: i. e. highway lines, where to look, reaction to potential dangers, etc.
We are putting the emphasis on
• How to handle the controls of the bike
• Coordinating the controls and balancing the bike
• Low speed maneuvering skills
• Tight turns
• Braking in curves
• Making full use of available braking options
• Riding style, leaning techniques, and when to use them
• Riding position
Our experienced and well-trained tour guides have been giving helpful hints to tour participants for years. The results and the response from this informal coaching were so positive that we decided to make this knowledge and experience available to tour participants on a more organized level.
If you think that we can add to your riding pleasure with this training, please plan to come one day prior to the start of your trip.

For those riding the Alps for the first time, we strongly recommend booking the Alps Riding Training. It will be held one day before the actual tour and it will enhance your safety and riding experience immensely. Alpine and European roads, traffic and driving patterns are very different than most motorcyclists are used to in their home environment. Our Alps Riding Training can tune your riding skills to our home environment.
