The road from Nasca to Machu Picchu is around 500 miles long – turn after turn, good pavement and almost no traffic! After spending the night in Ollantaytambo, we change to the famous Machu Picchu train to experience this unique sight overlooking the Urubamba valley. We’ll spend a night in Cusco, the former capital of the Incas and then move on to the next adventure – a flight over the Andes down into the jungle – Tambopata!
Our rest day we spent on a boat ride to see some beautiful vegetation and animals! Back in Cusco we continue our ride on the Altiplano – direct to the highest navigable lake of the world – Titicaca. Of course we have time to visit the famous Uros floating islands! Let’s go to the Colca Canyon where amazing landscapes and lots of condors are waiting for us! Arequipa, the white city in the foothills of the Andes, is our destination the following day.
With its numerous colonial style buildings, it’s really a nice place. From the balcony of our hotel right next to the cathedral we can watch the sunset while we sip our last Pisco Sour before heading back to Arica.
