Add some twisties and hills and you have a dream road that makes for a great motorcycle vacation! On the Highway No. 1 motorcycle tour you‘ll get to know three states – California, Oregon and Washington State, which have a lot in common, but are also very different. The tour starts in Southern California, where, according to the song, it never rains. The landscape is correspondingly dry, almost desertlike, but fortunately we have the blue Pacific on the left and the green coastal mountains on the right.
The stretch to San Francisco has enough highlights for a whole week: the Pismo Sand Dunes, Santa Barbara, Hearst Castle, Carmel and Cannery Row in Monterey. As a bonus, there are sea elephants, seals and pelicans to be seen along the way. Further north, the trees become a lot taller because we will have entered the region of the famous redwoods. Crossing through Oregon, we finally reach Washington State. The temperatures are quite a bit cooler in the Pacific northwest than in Southern California, and the vegetation has also changed. What remains the same are the little motorcycle roads with their turns and vistas which will make it very hard to go home.
