From this vantage point, your view of water gushing through the narrow canyons below will be one of the memories that truly stands out from your motorcycle tour. The tour starts and ends in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province. From here we head to the mountains – real mountains, peaks covered in eternal snow and ice, soaring to 25,000 ft and more.
The road climbs up and up and by the time we reach Litang our altimeters will show an elevation of 15,000 ft! The two riding days to Xiangcheng and Zhongdian, also known as Shangri-La, are unrivalled anywhere in the world for the incredible scenery and thrilling riding experiences. You may also cross paths with some of the Tibetan nomads who live here, on the top of the world, tending their yak herds during the summer. But there is more: Tiger Leaping Gorge, the mighty Yangtze River, the beautiful ancient town of Lijiang, and the Giant Buddha of Leshan, a 235 ft statue carved out of the bare rock around 1,200 years ago.
