Following the Panamericana, the longest road in the world, we reach Moquegua, the capital of the Pisco area. The next day we play around on the beautiful Peruvian coast and reach the ancient port of “Puerto Inka”. Nasca is waiting for us, and after a nice ride in the morning we exchange bikes for little Cessna planes to discover the world famous Nasca Lines! The road from Nasca to Machu Picchu is around 500 miles long – turn after turn, good pavement and almost no traffic!
After spending the night in Ollantaytambo, we change to the famous Machu Picchu train to experience this unique sight overlooking the Urubamba valley. After this unbelievable experience we continue to Cusco, the cradle and former capital of the Incas. We’ll spend a night in this beautiful city and then move on to the next adventure – a flight over the Andes down into the jungle – Tambopata! On our rest day we’ll really feel the diversity of this incredible country – on a boat ride we will see beautiful vegetation and animals! Back in Cusco we start our engines to ride on the Altiplano – direct to the highest navigable lake of the world – Titicaca.
Of course we have time to visit the well known floating islands – the Uros! Let’s go to the Colca Canyon where amazing landscapes and lots of condors are waiting for us! Arequipa, the white city in the foothills of the Andes, is our destination the following day. With its numerous colonial style buildings, it’s really a nice place. From the balcony of our hotel right next to the cathedral we can watch the sunset while we sip our last Pisco Sour before heading back to Arica.
