Adventure Machu Picchu

ACP

Chile | Peru

Desert, Andes, mountains and jungle: This is a real Machu Picchu motorcycle adventure!

Following the Panamericana, the longest road in the world, we reach Moquegua, the capital of the Pisco area. The next day we play around on the beautiful Peruvian coast and reach the ancient port of “Puerto Inka”.

Nasca is waiting for us, and after a nice ride in the morning there is the option to discover the world famous Nasca Lines by plane. The road from Nasca to Machu Picchu is around 500 miles long – turn after turn, good pavement and almost no traffic! After spending the night in Ollantaytambo, we change to the famous Machu Picchu train to experience this unique sight overlooking the Urubamba valley.

We’ll spend a night in Cusco, the former capital of the Incas and then move on to the next adventure – a flight over the Andes down into the jungle – Tambopata! Our rest day we spent on a boat ride to see some beautiful vegetation and animals! Back in Cusco we continue our ride on the Altiplano – direct to the highest navigable lake of the world – Titicaca. Of course we have time to visit the famous Uros floating islands! Let’s go to the Colca Canyon where amazing landscapes and lots of condors are waiting for us! Arequipa, the white city in the foothills of the Andes, is our destination the following day. With its numerous colonial style buildings, it’s really a nice place.

From the balcony of our hotel right next to the cathedral we can watch the sunset while we sip our last Pisco Sour before heading back to Arica.

ADVENTURE MACHU PICCHU

Sabine and I always dreamt of taking a trip to the famous Machu Picchu and, as motorcyclists, we found just the right trip at Edelweiss Bike Travel. The preparation worked out excellently since the German travel agency, Eudenbach-Müller, has been selling Edelweiss tours for many years now. Mrs. Maag took care of all of our travel needs in a perfect manner. And, of course, the tour was outstanding and exceeded all our expectations.

ADVENTURE MACHU PICCHU

This was another amazing trip put together by Edelweiss Bike Travel and being served by its Canadian agent Farewell Travel Service! From wheels up to finish this is a motorcycle adventure for every kind of rider. We started with best coastal roads I have ever been on in the world. We then turned inland to mountain and desert riding much like the American west but without the traffic and some of the highest peaks you can ever get to via a motorcycle! Cusco and Arequipa are cities that rival any European towns near the Mediterranean and you can‘t leave out the amazing Machu Picchu and the rain forest! This adventure has something for everyone and should not be missed. Thank you!
