Best of Cuba > Carla King, Women First! SPT19006

Cuba

This motorcycle tour through Cuba is loaded with fascinating culture, great scenery and winding roads.

Explore the Caribbean island of Cuba famous for its history, cities, beaches, and the hospitality of the people in this “women-first” tour (spouses/partners welcome) led by adventure motorcyclists and authors Carla King and Christopher Baker.

First, we'll cruise the winding roads southeast towards Cienfuegos and make a stop to visit the museum at the Bay of Pigs. Then we'll explore Trinidad, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities on the Caribbean coast.

From Trinidad we will ride out to the mountains of Topes de Collantes to experience its lush tropical forests, waterfalls and enjoy the view over Lake Hanabanilla. Santa Clara, so famous for Che Guevara and his capture of the city, is next on our list of destinations.

We will of course get to see the mausoleum and museum of Che Guevara.

The further route takes us to the north coast with its magnificent white sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise waters.

This and much more awaits you on this motorcycle tour in Cuba!

ABOUT YOUR GUIDES

Carla King’s motorcycle misadventures began at age 14 in rural North Carolina when she identified the broken down Honda Enduro in the barn as her escape vehicle. Her dad told her “If you can fix it you can ride it” unaware that he was setting her up for a career in adventure travel. A six-week solo journey through France in the 80s led to months-long sojourns in Europe, China, Africa, India, Mexico, and the Caribbean. She is the author of two books based on her travels and her writing has appeared in many anthologies, newspapers, and magazines. Find out more about Carla at www.carlaking.com.

Christopher Baker shipped his motorcycle to Cuba in 1996 and rode more than 7,000 miles during a three-month motorcycle journey as a licensed journalist, resulting in publication of his Moon Cuba guidebook and his award-winning National Geographic travelogue Mi Moto Fidel: Motorcycling Through Castro’s Cuba. A Lowell Thomas Award-winning travel journalist, Christopher is one of the world’s foremost authorities on Cuba and has led many motorcycle tours through the country.
