A group of friends from the US and Canada decided to do an extended Alps Tour with Edelweiss. Here they are: Goldie and Kent from Canada, Joe and Elana, Claude and Brad from the US. Ready to go!
A great first riding day in perfect weather, Zillertaler Höhenstraße, Gerlos Pass, and the Highlight Großglockner High Alpine Road. Wow!
Today we were heading to the Dolomites, 9 passes, countless curves and great scenery. A detour because of a road closure added some fantastic riding. The boot beer at our nice hotel Villa Blu tasted good!
The Dolomites were on the schedule today, really breathtaking scenery, the highlight was Passo di Giau, just stunning! We did 9 passes again and had fun all day long, even in the rain...
On our first restday we did not really rest, we made a loop to the famous Sella Ronda in the Dolomites. The rain started a little bit Top early, so we got wet, but no problem. We still had a great riding day and in the afternoon we explored the old city of Bolzano. 5 passes today.
We had two of the most challenging passes of the alps today, Passo di Stelvio is the most famous one with 48 tight switchbacks on the northern side. But the Gavia pass was also challenging in fogy conditions. 7 passes all together. The group was doing really great. Well done!
After a hard riding day yesterday we had a quite easy one today. Only 3 passes, but glaciers, waterfalls and two beautiful lakes, Lago di Como and Lago di Lugano with Mediterranean flair.
Unfortunately a rainy day, only three small passes, but a nice ferry crossing over Lago Maggiore. We made it safe to the hotel in Aosta, only a little bit wet.
One more rainy day. Going over the Petit Bernard Pass in the rain and fog was quite hard and it was freezing cold. We decided to take some high passes out and went through a really warm 14 km long tunnel. In the afternoon we had sunshine again and a good ride over one more pass to Briancon. Only 3 passes today...
What a day! Full of highlights, great roads, sunshine and 9 passes!
Another great riding day with 4 passes. The highlight was the very narrow Col de la Croix de Coer with stunning views and a good lunch.
Today no riding, sightseeing in Zermatt and enjoying the fascinating Matterhorn.
To avoid snow and cold, we changed our plans and rode back to Italy, taking a Train through the Simplon tunnel. What an experience! On the southside of the Alles we had beautiful weather and scenery. In Top we had some really good riding...
What a great riding day in sunshine, 6 passes, 4 lakes and a wonderful hotel at Lake Garda. Meanwhile it is snowing at the other side of the alpes. We are lucky.
Unfortunately our last day of riding, but we had a really good one. 6 passes sometimes sun and no rain. A little bit chilli from time to time, but we made it!!! Congratulation to the group! Well done!
