Our last riding day of the 'Rome to Sicily' tour took us from Agricento to Catania. Unfortunately we got rained on half of the day and so we weren't getting many pictures to show you here on the blog.
As if he wanted to show off on us, Mount Etna the next morning presented himself in all his beauty :)

The last day into Calabrian-Sicily waiting for as.
In Villa S. Giovanni we take the ferry to cross the “stretto du Messina”
A spectacular start into the day by riding the hairpin turns up to the Christo Redentore statue. Along the way this little town called Fiumefreddo Bruzio is another temptation to be tackled when you see it located high up on a cliff and a couple of hairpin turns leading up to it. Too tempting not to be visited, even for Angela, the van driver of the day :)
After Pompei, our route leads us on to Acquafredda. A beautiful, typical Italian boutique hotel is waiting there for us. First thing in the morning we paid visit to the Greek temples of Paestum. Our award for the walk through the 2.500 years old temple ruins was Michaela's picnic at the place where the buffaloes are raised and the tasty mozzarella is produced from their milk.
Even though it was only the second day of our Rome to Sicily tour, everybody decided to have a real rest day. The ruins of Pompei are simply too spectacular to not go and have an extensive visit.
In the afternoon Domenico, our tour guide colleague was showing us around in his home town of Naples. What a great time we had! Thanks Domenico for showing us your home town.
The first riding day leaving the busy city of Rome first took us to a view point from where we could see the former summer residence of the pope. All the way down to the famous historical site of Pompei we enjoyed nice rides in bright sunshine.
On our rest day tomorrow we will get to wander about Pompei and learn more about the once prosperous city, whose existence has been put to an end by the volcanic eruption of mount Etna.
In Rome we turned around the motorcycles that were coming up with the tour from Sicily and started another tour back down to Sicily.
This time tour guides Michaela and Angela are showing four riders from the USA around the Italian boot and the island of Sicily.
