The Heart of Italy 4IT1502

Welcome to Florence, Tuscany, where another great Edelweiss tour is about to begin!

We will ride through central Italy, through the regions of Tuscany, Umbria and Marche, an area full of history and art... and of course wonderful roads! The weather forecast looks very good and our bikes are ready to hit the roads! Follow us!!!

Everything ready!

Day 5, Urbino - Florence

Also this beautiful tour is over, today we went back to Florence and it was another great riding day, with thousands of curves that took us to San Leo and to the Muraglione pass before finally reaching our hotel.

Thank you Diane, Larry, Sachiko, Wes, Basil, Nick and Sonia for a wonderful time together! See you hopefully soon again, ciao!

Day 4, Urbino - San Marino - Tavullia - Urbino

Rest day in Urbino, but of course some of us always want to ride! Today we reached San Marino, one of the smallest states in Europe and, after a coffee break at the main square, we continued our tour until we reached the coast where we had a good lunch by the beach. Then, the beautiful "Panoramic Road" took us to Pesaro and Tavullia, hometown of the Doctor Valentino Rossi!

Day 3, Perugia - Urbino

Today everybody got a very good dose of curves! We left Perugia and, after a photo stop at the Trasimeno lake, we headed to Cortona, where we could sip a very good cappuccino in the crowded square. After lunch we decided to hit the "Bocca Trabaria" road, with lots of curves and no traffic... what a beautiful ride until Urbino!

Day 2, Perugia - Castelluccio - Assisi - Perugia

Also today the weather looked great and the "Monti Sbillini" were waiting for us. To get there in time, we used the motorway and, before hitting the mountain roads, we had the chance to see Norcia, famous for being the hometown of Saint Benedict... and famous also for the truffle! After another couple of photo stops up high in the mountains, we finally reached the small village of Castelluccio, overlooking a great valley, where we had lunch and then we headed to Assisi for our last stop of the day. Before dinner a nice walk through Perugia was also a nice experience!

Day 1, Florence - Perugia

The first riding day of this tour is also its longest, but we managed it well! After a few pictures from the famous "Piazzale Michelangelo", we quickly got out of Florence and rode into the hills of the Chianti region. For the morning coffee break we chose Greve and then the road to Siena amazed our senses! We reached the hotel around 7pm, tired but happy, and then we enjoyed a great dinner together.

This adventure far exceeded my expectations. First of all, I have never had so much fun riding a motorcycle! Several days had 3-4+ hours of twisties, sweepers and hairpins, with minimum traffic. And then when the road straightens out, you look up and think, OMG, look at this amazingly beautiful country. Domenico was an awesome guide. I made new friends, had a lot of laughs and am headed home delightfully exhausted.
