Scooters in Paradise...

Day 6

The last day for us and our beautiful red vespa. Today we are taking on one of the classic alpine passes the "Timmelsjoch". Where we crossed the border back to Austria. After a quick visit to the Motorrad Museum in Hochgurgel we managed to avoid all the rain and arrived dry and safely at our final destination the Edelweiss Garage in Mieming where Laurens treated us to a cold beer - Thank you for a perfekt end to a wonderful journey.

Before the Ride Todd is inspecting the robot lawnmower
The Gang at the Timmelsjoch - so much warmer than the Großglockner
And that's that, we had a wonderfull time and ended at the Edelweiss garage with a couple of beers!

Day 5

Another rest day, where again we divide our time equally between culture and riding! We managed to beat the crowds with an early visit to the the South Tyrolean Archeological museum, dedicated to the Otzi the iceman. After that we went for a lovely half day loop past the Karersee and over the Nigerpass, back into Bolzano. Sunny, hot, and very fun!.

The lifelike Otzi recreation.
Who said riding a scooter is easy and boring? Look at those hairpins!
Emerald blue waters of the Karersee.
This happy Austrian kid got an icecream from his American mom, look how happy he is!
Covered in sweat, but smiling!

Day 4

Today we rode from Lienz to our third country of the tour, Italy! The beautiful little Pustertaler Hochalpenstrasse was good for waking up and starting the day. We reached the Dolomites shortly after corssing the border, and at the Falzarego pass and the impressive walls of Lagazoui we took the cable car up for lunch with a beautiful view. Our second big pass of the day, the Passo Gardena was the ideal setting for enjoying the sun and a refreshment some more, before heading down towards Bolzano and some absolute scorching temperatures: up to 35 degrees!

Day 3

Today we are leaving Salzburg and heading to the small but lovley city of Lienz. On our way down south we went up the medival castle "Hoch Werfen". The Highlight of the day was the very windy and cold but breathtaking "Großglockner Hochalpenstraße" - What a Day!

Princess Kris with her Knight in shining armor Todd next to the crossdressing Royal Family Paul and Vivien haunted by the Tourguide Poltergeist!!!
On the way up Grossglockner!

Day 2

Our rest day in Salzburg started with heading out to the former Nazi headquarters at Obersalzberg, where we conquered the Eagle's Nest all the way 1800m high. After lunch and enjoying the views, we headed off for another 100 km's of wonderfull alpine roads including highlights like the Rossfeldstrsse and the Postalm road, all with the sun shining down upon us.

The Eagle's Nest / Kehlsteinhaus at the top!
Who says you can't have fun on a scooter?!
Refreshments where Edelweiss are regulars: Lienbachhof in Postalm.

Day 1

At the start in Seefeld it was pouring like cats and dogs. While following beautiful alpine rivers and lakes the weather improved quickly. At the end of the first riding day we arrived in the sunny and warm Salzburg.  In the evening we were treated to a wonderful dinner accompanied by the "Greatest Hits" of Mozart, the best way to spend the evening in his birthplace.

My riding skills improved so much over the course of this amazing tour! So many fun twists and turns! Johannes and Laurens were awesome tour leaders — very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I loved all the stops along the way especially the opportunities to go up cable cars! My only concern now is whether any tour I take in the future can live up to this one ❤️

The Alps by Scooter trip exceeded all of our expectations. Laurens and Johannes were the ultimate hosts and great ambassadors for Edelweiss and the region. Their knowledge and passion for the region and the history was exceptional. All of the details, logistics and routes were carefully planned and executed so that all we had to do was show up, gear up and ride. The hotels, local museums and off the bike stops were all above and beyond what we expected.
Thanks for a truly memorable and once in a lifetime adventure!

Good evening Mum and Dad (Paul & Vivien!), and all of the Edelweiss Alps 'gang'..!
Wow - I am absolutely LOVING following the online blog and seeing all of the adventures you are getting up to, set against such striking scenery and grand buildings. Thank you very much for uploading them. I hope that you are having a really wonderful time - I can only imagine that it is FLYING by, sadly...! I have to say that Mum and Dad look v. super cool and professional in their motorbike/scooter gear, and as always I can see that they will return back Home to England with a rather nice tan...as usual! I am writing this message to you all from my dining room chair, sat at the kitchen table in my little flat in the West Midlands region of England. How's the temperature been over there?! Today it has been a little cooler which I am VERY thankful for, because working long days (and late nights!) at a Hospital is extremely hot and unpleasant.. they are such boiling places..
It's a difficult choice to make, but I have to say that my top two favourite photographs are: the photograph of Mum, Dad and some more of the gang at the top of Timmelsjoch (2509m), but TOP place must be awarded to the 'Royal Family Paul and Vivien haunted by the Tourguide Poltergeist' picture..! Hehe.. excellent! It is so nice to see Mum & Dad out there having a fab expedition in such grand surrounds - back Home they work, and always have worked, ridiculously hard for everyone except for themselves - including 4 very demanding children (!) - so they really do deserve a 'get-away' Edelweiss expedition more than anyone.
I hope you have a fabulous final few hours everyone. Faith x

P.S.. those red Scooters are very snazzy...
Crikey, I'm glad it isn't me having to manoeuvre around those hairpin bends.. frightening enough without also being way up in the remoteness of the mountains...!
