SCOUTING Breweries & Castles

Freitag, 1. Juni 2012 | Bestellung Gutschein | Europa

Hi all together and welcome on our "Scouting Breweries & Castles" motorcycle tour.

Let me shortly introduce our guests: This is Netanya and Gershon Gaist from Israel, Eddy Preston from Australia and Dave Dery from Pittsfield, USA. Dave is ob his 25th "Anniversary" Tour!

Our bikes are waiting in the garage of our nice Hotel in Frankfurt and after the welcome briefing wie enjoy our first dinner together. Just by the start wie find out - "Good food  is part  of the tour" !

Our first day is filled with sunshine, perfect weather for a motorcycle tour, but before  we wie really begin to ride we stop by a motorcycle shop. Our new friends from Israel - Gershon and Nadja - want to buy new riding gear.

Our first day leads us into the River Rhein Valley and to see all the castles in the sunshine just feels great!

The afternoon see us in the River Mosel Valley and we reach our hotel for the night in Trier, the oldest town in Germany, founded 16 B.C. by the Romans. Our dinner we got with a look to the   " Porta Nigra", the oldest and best preserved Roman Gate on this side of the Alps!

Next day we explored the second smallest country in Europe, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. After riding through  "Bikers Paradies" on small winding roads in the Ardennes and the Eifel area wie visit the BITBURGER Brewery and have lunch here, don't worry, of course no beer drinking during the riding day!

Continue riding the Ardennes roads we reach the "SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS" race course our next Hotel in Spa, Belgium. SPA has a very famous Casino, but everybody said, " we're not in..."

From SPA to Dinat the next highlight isn't the ride, it is the hotel! We live in an Old Convent, like a Palace! Old Style and modern intereur and exzellent food. What could be better? Oh, not to forget, some drops of rain today, but nobody complaint about!

We're really eager to see what happens the next days!

We leave Dinant after a visit in the Fortress high above the River Maas. On the way to Reims we see from far the big cathredal and our visit is amazing. And our rest-day-ride through the "Touristic Tour of the Champgne" ist great, as well as our lunch in a really French Cousine Restaurant wie all use one word DELICIOUS!

On half the way to Nancy we stop by the 1. World War Battlefield in Verdun. It's really depressing to see all the Graveyards and the heavy rain is adaquate. But by Sunshine in Nancy wie find our wonderfull "old style" Hotel and the "Place of Stanislaus"

Now we're in Ribeauville in the middle of Wineyards, Elsass Region is a Bikers Paradies and we start soon for a big loop.

Stay tuned!

Hi all together! Our big loop in the Alsace Region is really great, roads made for riding! Curving through wineyards, up and downhill, passing beautiful villages and much more were the highlights of the last days.

Okay, time for a coffee stop - what's that look to the church towers, on both sides are a stork nest with old and young storcs in, Wow! Continue the ride and stop again - now for lunch.

A restaurant "in the middle of nowhere - they serve USA delicious "french Pizza", calles "Tarte Flambee", great. And the evening "Food of the Region" in that little French restaurant, puh, tooooo much food, but still great.

And now Black Forest is our "playground", the hotel is in the "Rothaus Brewery", bikes safe in the garage and we wait for the guided brewery tour.....tomorrow you can read how is was...

Wow, now we know more, "Rothaus Brewery" is a really nice place. See in this big private brewery how to brew beer, see and try it - of course. Staying in a hotel with a brewery is actually great, the bikes are save in a garage meanwhile.

On our way to Ehingen we cross our fifth country -  Switzerland - and see the famous "Rheinfalls of Schaffhausen", which is a very nice place. The "Donau-Valley" see us with a smile in our face on our good running bikes.

Reaching Ehingen in sunshine, perfect for the beer garden after a quick shower. Our "Hotel zum Schwanen" is home of a " Micro Brewery". And the Master is Michael, 32 years young and he know what he talk about, wie learn a lot how difficult it is to make a good beer!

And he make some really good ones, wie can try all, and the food - his  Brother is the Chef - is excellent too. Perfect that wie can greete Paul, another EDERWEISS Customer who lives near by and tell us something about the Beer history in Ehingen, what a good idea!

By the way, everybody lives their new EDELWEISS Tour T-Shirts, perfect Day!

Did I mention that Paul - also an EDELWEISS customer who lives nearby - join us by the Schwanen-Brewery? We enjoyed his company very much and he showed us -with his Triumph- next morning Ulm. Thank you Paul!

Unfortunately we hadn't enough time for go on the highest Church Tower in the "Ulmer Münster", 748 Steps high and down needs an extra Hour! Our way to Rothenburg ob the Tauber is unfortunately wet, but the Lunch between the Citywalls is excellent and the Sun comes out and shine us the way to Wuerzburg. The historic town is famus for many things, we make a stop and walk into the Fortress -high above the Main River- and stpo also by the "Residenz", the Palace is a Museum, to much to list what is to see.

Last Day riding see us in the Odenwald and Spessart region, riding Roads for Bikers! The "Water-Castle" in Mespelbrunn is a "Must to visit"! So we're safely back late afternoon in our Tour-Start-Hotel in Frankfurt, park our good runing bikes in the Garage and wonder how the last two weeks "flew away", 2600 KM on the Bike and no Problems, can that be better?

Thank you for coming with EDELWEISS BIKE TRAVEL, have a good flight home and hope we see us on the next Tour!
