From Paris To Omaha CPO 2301
Riding day 2 started with some rain. We stayed for a while at the Loire and our first stop was chateau l'Azay-le-Rideau. This castle is one of the most beautiful ones in France. We spent some time there and headed afterwords to Saumur where we had lunch with a beautiful view to the castle Saumur, build in the 13th century.
Today we get into a part of recent history. We ride to Saint-Nazaire where we visit a bunker for submarines built by the Nazis in WW2. Afterwards we make a detour to Batz-sur-Mer. There the worldwide known and famous fleur de Sel is extracted. Ad the end we reach our hotel at the beach in Carnac.
Arrived in Carnac we have our first Restday. The nice little town at the coast offers several highlights. Beautiful beaches, the menhirs wich are more than 6000 years old and several cathedrals and fortresses nearby. A small group of riders took the chance to take an additional ride, the others relaxed, booked a massage at our hotel or went shopping.
Today we move from the south of brittany to the north. Here somewhere the Atlantic becomes the English Channel.
Today we change from Brittany to Normandy. This also brings us closer to a dark chapter in history. The WW2. Already on the way we see many examples of the recent past. But also special highlights of other kind do not come too short.
