Discovering Netherlands & Belgium on Motorcycles (SPT23080)
On our first day we followed the north coast of the Netherlands all the way to Bruges in Belgium. Which was supposed to be a nice ride along the sea turned out to be quite a challenge, because we had heavy rain and wind for almost the whole day. At least the riding wasnt very technical today, so everyone managed fine in the rain and we arrived savely at our destination where we will stay for two nights. For tomorrow the forecast promises better weather, so we are looking forward to that.
We will stay one more night in the beautiful city of Bruges. Since its only our second day on this tour, everyone was still eager to for a ride. Since the weatherforcast said it was going to rain later in the day, we cut our route short and only did a 100km loop around Bruges.
On our third day of riding we went from Bruges in the north of Belgium all the way to Provondeville in the south. While the northern part of the country is similarly flat to the Netherlands, there is a mountain range in the South named the Ardennes, which gave us some change in scenery and more exiting roads to ride than in the last days.
Today was already riding day #4 . The route should lead us from Profondeville in Belgium, via Luxembourg to Germany, more precisely to Trier. At a frosty 3 degrees, we set off in the fog in Profondeville in the morning. Following the course of the river Meuse to Bouillon where the first highlight of the day was waiting for us. The Chateau of Bouillon, built in the 11th century and expanded in the 17th to a fortress. Then we went for a picnic in the direction of Orval. Unfortunately, right there it started to rain in torrents and so the group decided to go directly to the hotel in Trier. Despite adverse conditions, everyone arrived safely at the hotel. Let's see what the weather god has in store for us tomorrow.
Yesterday we went from Belgium through Luxembourg to Trier in Germany where we will stay for two nights. Our plan for today originaly was to take a ride the the northwest of here to the famous Nürburgring Racetrack. But since the weatherforcast for today wasnt really promising good riding conditions and we had enough of rain on the last few days already, everybody decided to skip riding today and instead sleep in and afterwards enjoy Germanys oldest city Trier, which has quite some amazing sites - alot of them dating back to the roman empire - to offer.
As usual a tour is over much to quickly and its our last day of riding already. We start the day in the beautiful dutch city Maastricht and go back to Amsterdam where we started a week ago. For a change the weather is dry today and for the first time we didnt need our raingear today.
