Pearls of the Adriatic Sea
Leaving Split, we started riding southwards along the stunning croatian coastline. Beautiful curvy road, nice villages and amazing views, what else could we ask for? Past the town of Makarska we reached Drvenik where, after a quick lunch break, we could the ferry to the island of Hvar. This island is long and narrow, so there is only one (long and narrow) road that goes from one side to the other. We reached the beautiful hotel in time for a walk or simply to relax with a gorgeous view!
Let's cross the island of Hvar again... but this morning a light rain slowed us down a little bit and we made it just in time to reach the ferry! Back on mainland we continued heading southwards and, after passing by the beautiful Neretva river delta, we crossed the very modern Pelješac Bridge (it opened only two years ago) and reached the old village of Ston where we had lunch. Another short and curvy stretch of road to finally reach Dubrovnik, where some went to town for dinner and some others relaxed in the hotel before dinner. A beautiful day!
From Dubrovnik to Kotor it's a very short ride, so we used some time in the morning to visit the historic centre of Dubrovnik and also have a light lunch in town! This place gets very busy, especially when the weather is so good like today! Back on our motorcycles, we quickly crossed the border into Montenegro and then, before finally reaching the hotel, we decided to go for a loop arount the wonderful bay of Kotor, that almost looks like a big lake!
Kotor and its surroundings are worth an extra day, especially if you can also go for a ride in the wonderful Lovcen National park and experience the magnificent views over Kotor and its bay! So we went for a loop in the park, of course, and then stopped in the centre of the town for lunch! Back in the hotel, we finally had dinner by the sea... what a beautiful day!
Today we said goodbye to the wonderful bay of Kotor and started riding towards the inland, and we quickly reached the border to Bosnia. Beautiful mountains all around, what a great ride (with some rain too, to get the whole experience!) and we managed to reach Mostar in time for a walk through its beautiful historic centre before having dinner all together. Enjoy the pictures!
Today we rode through the southern part of Bosnia for a good stretch before entering Croatia again where Domenico was expecting us for a picnic with a view! It's quite a long ride to Zadar, so we had to keep on moving quite quickly. The landscape did not change much until we finally reached the coast near the Krka National Park. Tonight dinner was by the beach with a pleasant breeze!
Being a restday, today there was the possibikity to spend the whole day in Zadar, exploring the old town or simply laying on the beach... but of course there was also the possibility to go for a ride, in the Krka National Park or a more challenging one in the mountains! So, while somebody decided to stay in Zadar, some others took the relaxing loop to the National Park and the rest went for the challenging ride! Dinner was in the beautiful old town of course, and everybody had a good day!
