AMA 100th Anniversary Alps Challenge 1 - CA12401
A motorcycle tour through this part of the Dolomites, with wonderful weather and fantastic views, is a dream for many motorcyclists. But most don't. 13 enthusiastic tour participants and 3 tour guides on seven impressive passes in a row - perfect. Passo Pordoi (Pordoi Pass) Passo di Campolongo Passo di Sella (Sella Pass) Passo di Falzarego Passo Giau Passo di Valparola Passo di tre croce Lots of fun, lots of impressions, zero boredom - a pleasure
Today we return to the fantastic Hotel Magdalena Hof in Bolzano via the Jaufen Pass with a great lunch on the Penser Joch. Most of the participants cruise with the tour guides, while the others visit Ötzi the Iceman and explore the old town of Bolzano on their own.
After a fantastic breakfast at the Magdalena Hof in Bolzano, we "saddle up" the motorcycles. Our route takes us over the Mendel Pass with the "Penegal" viewpoint and on via Cles and Lago Santa die Guistina to Passo Tonale, where we treat ourselves to a refreshment at the "Maso Celesta". With renewed energy, we continue towards Livigno. Unfortunately, we have to do without the Passo di Gavia on this day (but we are happy to make up for it). We ride through many bends and picturesque villages to the Hotel Lac Salin with its fabulous cuisine and breathtaking views. (ts)
Unfortunately, the weather the day before did not allow us to cross the Passo di Gavia. So we made another attempt - and the weather showed its best side to explore this spectacular pass. Via the PASSO D'EIRA and the PASSO DEL FOSCAGNO - we finally reached the GAVIA. This was followed by a "freeride" to the top of the Stelvio pass. Full of impressions and a few hairpin bends, we headed back to the "Lac Salin" hotel - a perfect day's riding.
The weather got worse again. For safety reasons, we almost had to do without the Stelvio and the Timmeljoch. We had to say goodbye to the wonderful Hotel Lac Salin and drove from Livigno through the Mont la Schera tunnel to the Ofen Pass. We drove through many small picturesque villages on countless bends to the Passo di Resia with the postcard motif of the church tower rising out of Lake Reschen. The Reschen Pass offers plenty of bends and impressive views. Via Landeck, the route led us on to the Ötztal valley. Before entering the valley, we stopped for refreshments at the "Poleposition" restaurant, where we not only had delicious burgers but also beautiful cars to admire. Refreshed, we drove further into the valley. Rocks, lots of waterfalls and unparalleled natural scenery lined our route. Part of the group checked into the Hotel Bäckelar Wirt Sölden, while the other part made its way to the Timmelsjoch. We stopped at the toll station and visited the motorcycle museum, which is more than impressive. Anyone passing by here should definitely take a look inside.
