SPT 24059 - ALPS EAST Express - BMW Days
The first riding day took off from Erding to the BMW museum in Munich. And since all the football fans from the teams of Holland and Romania were near the stadium , it was very busy there, including about 50 motorcycles from Edelweiss !. After the very nice visit including the lunch we left Munich to go direction south east and made a nice foto stop in the ancient town of Wasserburg. Still with threatening clouds above us we arrived at the Chiemsee to have the afternoon coffeestop. And even with some sunshine we relaxed a bit along the lake side. Then the last stretch towards our fantastic hotel in the middle of a beautiful green area we enjoyed a cosy dinner. First day done !
The second day of this tour unfortunately begins with a bit of rain, which does not deter our riders. We enter the Hohe Tauern National Park and ride till the first photo stop in Pillersee. After the photo a coffee break in Zell am See. we take advantage of the coffee break to decide which route to take, for safety and visibility reasons we go for the FelbertauernTunnel. We enter the tunnel in the rain and leave in the sun. After lunch in Matrei, we were only a few kilometres away from our final destination and decide to venture along the Großglockner until we arrive at the beautiful Jungfernsprung waterfall. The detour was worth it. It's time to head back to Lienz to settle down before dinner.
There is nothing better to wake up in the Alps with a clear sunny sky! And so we had it this morning. Which means perfect circumstances for a ride through the Dolomites!. And throughout the day it stayed like this. And together with hundreds of other motorcyclists we enjoyed this great day of riding in this motorcycle paradise. A great outside lunch and several nice fotostops completed this great day. And on top of it a very pleasant outside terrace dinner in the evening!
Again a sunny day! And this time the route took us back into Austria via the Jauffen pass, the Timmelsjoch pass and via the Ötz valley back into Tyrol. Seefeld is our destination for today since we are staying there two days with the group in order to visit the BMW days in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. So on the bikes and direction north to the great riding over the Penser joch Jauffenpass. On top some nice pics and then further to the highlight of today : the Timmelsjoch pass with it's beautiful motorcycle museum. On top a clear blue sky so also time for a relaxed lunch at the terrace of the museum Then down through the Otz valley and up again for the last part to Seefeld. Fantastic day with fantastic routes!
Today is the day where this tour is built around: the famous BMW days in the very southern part of Bavaria in Germany: Garmisch-Partenkirchen. With some other groups of Edelweiss Bike travel we went with a big bus towards the event area and today appeared to be very warm! And after a very enjoyable day of bestriding, stunt shows and dozens of exhibitors , we went to the big party tent for a gala dinner with all the Edelweiss touring groups. And that was some party: a great meal, big beers and a fantastic live band on a big stage. Soon everyone was on the tables and benches to sing and dance along with the great band!. And then was time to go back to the bus which brought us back to Seefeld in Tyrol to our hotel. But of course our Argentina group kept on singing and make fun all the way back to Seefeld. What a day, what a party ! Buenas Notes!
And here it is suddenly: our last riding day. After a great and very warm day at the BMW days in Garmisch -Partenkirchen we expected another warm day, but when we looked outside it was completely different: rain! But a good thing to refresh a little bit and so in the rain gear!.We started working our way up north through the beautiful area around Scharnitz and followed the small tollroad through Vorderriss. At the lovely village of Gmund we had our last lunch and of course all our guests took this opportunity to buy their last wienerschrnitzel. And then it was time to say goodbye. A great meal with a lot of fun (as always with our Argentinian guests) we had a memorable last evening. On behalf of Alberto, Marco, Gerhard and Ted, we wish you all a safe trip home and hopefully we will meet again somewhere, somehow, sometime on another Edelweiss trip! ADIOS!
