A rainy morning when we leave Munich! Getting out of the city with the morning traffic was not very difficult and then, after a stop at a motorcycle accessories shop, we used the highway to reach Eichstätt where we had lunch. The roads in Bavaria are very beautiful but you always have to go slowly because you go from one village to another, however we arrived in Rothenburg in time to have dinner and then take the famous guided walk through the center!
What a great day on the motorbike! After leaving Rothenburg, we arrived at the beautiful Schontal monastery where we stopped for a coffee and then, shortly after, Hanna and Michael were waiting for us for a picnic. Following the course of the Neckar river we stopped for a photo at the beautiful Hirschhorn lookout before arriving in Heidelberg.
Today's highlight was the ride in the Black Forest, famous for its beautiful villages, its big green trees and of course its wonderful roads, really beloved from local motorcyclists! Being sunday, there were a lot of motorcycles around! We stopped in Bad Herrenalb for a coffee break and then in Bad Peterstal for lunch. After lunch we finally reached the Rhine valley and, crossing this important river, we entered France, tonight we are sleeping in Alsace!
Colmar is a cute little town with wonderfully colorful half-timbered houses. Last night we already got to see the inside of one of these houses during our dinner. But this afternoon we'll be sure to walk through the pretty town again. In the morning, some of the group set off on their motorcycles around the Route de Crête. An elegantly winding route through the Vosges, the mountain range in Alsace.
We set off from Colmar this morning in light rain, "enjoyed" some more of it on the way, then made our way through the dense fog over the Kandel mountain , then passed by the Hexenlochmühle and then finished our ride today into the evening sun of Schaffhausen and the impressive Rhine Falls.
Riding a motorbike in Switzerland is not very fun because the speed limits are very low, but the landscapes are beautiful! We went along Lake Constance and then headed towards Mount Säntis, where the funicular took us to the top to admire the wonderful view. Quick lunch and then we set off again towards Davos. Before arriving in Livigno, we still had to tackle the Fluela Pass, what a beautiful road!
The Stelvio, the king of mountain passes, was the highlight of today! Forty-eight tight hairpins to reach a height of almost 2800 meters. Then, once we reached the top, as per tradition, we ate a delicious sandwich at Bruno's while it started to snow a little. After the inevitable ritual photos, we returned to the valley passing through Switzerland, through the Umbrail pass and finally a fast state road took us towards Merano. When we were fifteen kilometers away from the hotel, it started to rain, but the forecast for tomorrow is for good weather, fingers crossed!
Today was a day off, but most people have decided to go on a nice tour in the Dolomites and take advantage of the beautiful day! The first stop was at Lake Carezza with its crystal clear waters reflecting the mountain peaks, and then we continued towards the San Pellegrino Pass and the Fedaia Pass, where we stopped for lunch. We returned to Collalbo around four in the afternoon and then... the evening was free!
To reach Lienz from Collalbo, the most beautiful road is definitely the one through the Dolomites, so logically we didn't ask ourselves twice! Passing through Ortisei (where we stopped for a coffee) and the beautiful Passo Gardena and Passo Falzarego, we arrived in Cortina d'Ampezzo, the most important city in the region, where we stopped for lunch. Then another stop at the beautiful Lake Misurina, at the foot of the three peaks of Lavaredo, and shortly after we entered Austria. What a beautiful day!
Unfortunately the last day of this trip has arrived, but to get to Germany we passed through the Grossglockner, what a magnificent sight! Right after lunch we entered Germany and suddenly the mountains in front of us disappeared, we were now in Bavaria, where before arriving in Erding we stopped at Chiemsee for the last photos. Have a good trip guys, it was a pleasure to travel with you!
