Best of Italy BOI2404
Our first Riding Day is completed, excellent weather, easy going traffic out of Rome so we got a perfect warm-up for our following days! Coffee break in Narni the center of Italy, great lunch (porchetta) in Montefalco and a Wonderfull sunset up on Assisi.
The day started a little foggy but as soon as we started to ride up the first mountains around the Lago Trasimeno, the clouds started to open up to a wonderful view over the lake. Over wonderful twisty roads we visited Cortona (where the movie under the tuscan sun was shot) and Urbino (now we can asume why Valentino Rossi is such a good rider). Some more perfectly twisty roads came up on our way so San Marino.
Curves Curves Curves!! Even ist is not the longest riding day by distance it feels like sport! Dry but cool weather almost no traffic just a few hunters on their way to the forests. Great riding and to top the day Barbara prepared an excellent picnic for us.
We completed our city tour at 3 PM, time for a cool beer. Tonight we are going out for Pizza!!!! Yeah! Some of us decided to ride the todays loop. We visited the Mugello racetrack and were lucky, because there were trackdays. After we spent way too much time there, we were inspired by the bikers we just saw on the track and did some pass-hopping. After 4 passes (obviously we made the mandatory pass pictures at every single one) we had lunch at Passo del Muraglione and drove back to Florence.
This morning we took one last look over the beautiful city of Florence and then we were back on the road. Through the wonderful landscape of tuscany we drove on to San Gimignano, where we had a coffee and headed on to Volterra, but only for a short lunch break. After some amazing panini, we got back on the bikes and drove on to Cecina to pay a visit to the sea. Then we rode back through the rolling hills of tuscany to Volterra. At dinner Walter, who is on his 15th tour with us, got a little thank you gift.
All about Chianti, Wine, world-famous ham and sausage, a dog fell in love with a bore, Gothic architecture off the finest and an aperitivo on the Palio in Siena, perfect!! even when it rains.....
Today was another day werer we rode through the amazing landscape of tuscany. In our way to Pienza, we stopped atthe Abby of Monte Olivieto Maggiore for some coffee, at Montalcino for some sightseeing and at Bagno Vignoni for some sight seeing and lunch. Then we headed on to Pienza, a beautiful little city, before we arrived happily at our hotel.
Bad Weatherforecast, excellent riding conditions! Who expected that. So we brought it to an end, and reached Rome akkurate in time. Our last riding day was just perfect as our tour was overall! thank you for riding with us Barbara and Franz
