4CI2404 - Atlantic Mountains Extreme
Our journey began on Tenerife, from where we took the ferry to La Gomera. The short crossing was just the start, as breathtaking routes awaited us on La Gomera. As soon as we arrived on the island, the motorcycle adventure began: perfect asphalt and an endless chain of bends. The weather was ideal - sunshine and a light breeze accompanied us through the changing landscapes of the island. La Gomera, especially around the Garajonay, gave us the perfect day. For motorcyclists, the island is a paradise that offers new surprises and fantastic views behind every curve.
After an incredible first day on La Gomera, we knew we simply had to drive across the island again! So we started the morning with another short tour to explore the last curves of this beautiful area. Around midday, we took the ferry back to Tenerife, where the next highlight awaited us: the Teide volcano. The way there took us through an impressive lunar landscape that can only be found on Tenerife. The barren landscape of lava fields and volcanic rock seemed almost extraterrestrial, as if you were riding a motorcycle on the moon. After the Teide, we continued into the Teno Mountains, which are known for their narrow and challenging roads. Driving skills are required here: the narrow, sometimes very steep roads demand full concentration, but the view and the feeling of freedom were worth every effort. Accompanied by the last rays of sunshine, we rode the last few kilometers along the coast to the hotel in comfort.
After our start, the route took us through the green Orotava Valley, past terraced fields and small villages. The winding roads took us through the Corona Forestal, where we stopped for a quick coffee at a viewpoint. The view of the Teide was impressive. In the afternoon we reached Santa Cruz, where we boarded the ferry to Costa Rica. The drive through the winding roads was a foretaste of the next day's stages on Gran Canaria. In the evening, we enjoyed a beer and Spanish specialties on the hotel terrace. The sunset bathed the surroundings in a breathtaking light and made for a perfect end to the day.
Today we experienced Gran Canaria in all its glory. From the hotel, we drove almost as far as the east coast, then up to Pico de las Nieves, the highest point accessible by motorcycle. Between the clouds, we enjoyed coffee and spectacular views of the island. Our tour continued to the southern tip, to the west and back to the hotel. The landscape was impressively diverse: green forests, deep gorges reminiscent of the Rocky Mountains and much more. Gran Canaria took our motorcycling hearts by storm with its varied roads and scenery!
In the morning, we enjoyed the last curves of Gran Canaria, which took us north to the ferry port. Back on Tenerife, the legendary north-east-south-west link road awaited us: 60 kilometers of pure cornering pleasure, interrupted only by passing through small Canarian villages. Finally, we headed into the mountains around Mount Teide before driving downhill to our destination hotel. On the beach, we toasted to a perfect day and an unforgettable trip. It was only at this moment that we really realized that our tour was over - five fantastic days of driving on three islands lay behind us. Tired but also incredibly grateful for this great experience, we looked back over a leisurely dinner, while plans were already being made for the next tour.
