CDU 2501 BEST OF DOWN UNDER

Now we are complete, and start with our Welcome Briefing. But many important information for a safe and relaxed tour. All our guests are joyfully excited and can hardly wait to finally get the key for their motorcycle. Now all adjustments can be made, tested and all important things can be stowed on the moped. Our first dinner together is delicious. The first stories are told. If you want to know more, stay tuned. Tomorrow we start our hot stoves Axel and Michaela
Now it finally starts, our adventure in Down Under. We start our engines and quickly leave the metropolis of Sydney behind. To drive to the world famous Blue Mountains. You have to see these. Why blue? Well, because they shimmer blue in the sun like the silver leaves of the eucalyptus trees. It's logical. The "Three Sisters" rise in the breathtaking view. And already continues on the roads in the hinterland. Picton is supposed to be the place for lunch. We dive into the Morton National Park to take a closer look at the Fitzroy waterfall. Finally, a italic pleasure before we reach Nowra, our current place to sleep. But that was just the beginning. Wait and see what Axel has to say tomorrow. Stay tuned Axel and Michaela say good night
A wet hello from Australia Open the curtain today after the wake-up call in the morning, right away was not the best idea what I had. Why? The answer is already hit ten in the headline - it was raining, and the weather radar did not give me a lot of hope for this riding day. But we are not made from sugar and that why, first of all - breakfast and then we will see. Somehow Petrus liked us and after the morning briefing it was not bad at all. It was just a spray, more from the road as from the top. But let´s get started, with what we have seen!!! Leaving the town was a piece of cake, because Nowra is a small town and there is not much traffic in the morning. And so, we turned several kilometers later into the Morton National Park which is established in 1938 and over 100 million years old. During the ride through the park, we stopped at the Tianjara Falls and later we have been the first time lucky to see some Kangaroos. And of course, we stopped and took our chance to take a closer look. On top we can say that we have been finally arrived in Australia because along the road there are Eucalyptus trees all over the place and if there is a gap in between the trees, you can see the beauty of the limestone gorges. I would say that was a good start. On the end of the park, it was time to take a break before we went on to Canberra the capital of Australia. The city himself is somehow special because the modern art of buildings and the history behind the name will make you smile. And if you don't know the stories behind the city - well come with us and I will make you smile too. To give you a hint - Australia got some of the most unique laws in the world and with the name and where it comes from, lets put it this - they did not rely make there homework!!! From there we went towards the Snowy Mountains where we will stay for tonight. All in one the landscape from the morning to our destination for tonight changed from almost never ending Eukalyptus forest over the highlands where cattle and sheep farms has been for almost the hallway to Canberra to the open farmland towards the snowy Mountains. It was a nice Mix, and we build up some memories. I can say thanks to the group for an awesome first riding day with me. And for tomorrow we will need your help - cross your fingers for sunshine!!! Because this is a day where we will introduce our customers to the real locals of Australia!!! What that means, you will see it tomorrow here in our Blog. Michaela and Axel
WOW What a great driving day with Michaela. The weather was already gigantic in the morning, that everyone was in a great mood. The weather forecast didn't look so tingling. But as I always say; when I wake up in the morning and look out of the window, that's the weather. Positive thinking also helps ;-) Today we went on the High Alpin Road to the highest mountain in Australia, Mount Kosciusko. The mountain itself is 2200 meters high, our road is at 1560 m. In the morning then a little fresh with it 11 degrees. But the ride was gigantically beautiful. Warm up briefly and a coffee goes on. Through the national park of the same name with 6900 square kilometers. Today we also leave NSW and arrive in Viktoria. We drive today dizzy, all alone on the road, perfect conditions, we could do that all day. Unfortunately, we were not lucky to meet with the announcement of locals. A construction site in the middle of the forest caused the kangaroos to hide. But we still have a few days and we will definitely find them. It is also getting warmer if not already hot. We drive a few more km along Lake Hume to drink an iced coffee or enjoy an ice cream before we head towards Wangarata to our today's destination. Off in the pool at 33 degrees, that's what our guests have earned today. Thank you for this great day Tomorrow it's Axel's turn again and we'll spend the night on the ferry to Tassi. Stay tuned Axel and Michaela
Theme of the day? Melting away on a sunny day Servus from the ferry to Tasmania - yes, we are already on the ferry, but before we had a stunning ride. We started out of Wangaratta at 8 and not far away we stopped for the first time at the King Valley. Famous as well as the place where Powers a criminal from the past was hiding himself and his wife for 8 years until they were captured. But I have to say he had a taste - The view from the Powers Lookout towards the Cheshunt South mountain range is fantastic. On side I got to say if you like to see it you have to ride a 3 km long gravel road and the most people might turn around, but don't do it, it is a place what you won't wane miss!!! From there we went back on the road and next goal has been the coffee stop in Mansfield. And guess what the way until the city sight was curvy + no traffic + all what you need to have a great start in the day. On top the weather was perfect, 23C, what else could you wish for? There is one more thing: More from the great road please!!!! And we delivered!!! After Mansfield we have been on the way to the Lake Eildon. The most imported lake for Melbourne as a water supply. But not only that!!! This lake is over 138 square kilometres large and in the peak, there are more then 700 house boots on the lake. And if you think about to walk around the lake along the water? Well you should have some time, because to walk around is 515 km long. But more important is the road what we have been on: The Eildon Jamison Road!!!! That is a must do with a very long doooooooooooooo!!!!! That is one of the best rollercoaster moments on tour and in Australia!!! Right now, I have no idea how I could describe it that you get at least an idea how wonderful this part of the day has been. After this you need a break and so we did. Next challenge of the day has been not the road it was the sun, which was climbing which every meter what we came closer to Melbourne. In the peak we had 40 C, way enough for us and so we were pleased to enter the last highlight of the day: The Yarra Valley. Pretty much out of nowhere you enter the valley, and it feels like you are on a different continent - somewhere in a jungle in south America. And it was refreshing because the Jungle and all the creeks in the national park let the temperature shrink to 24 C. But everything has an end and so we had to leaf the valley towards Melbourne, what have been the last challenge of the day before went on the ferry to Tasmania. It was a long day, but we had a lot of highlights and tomorrow we will see what Tasmania got to offer for us. See you tomorrow Michaela and Axel
Tassi here we are!!! It is 10 and we are rolling of the ferry. The adventure Tasmania finally begins!!! The ferry ride over night has been very pleasant because the sea was smooth as you could wish for. As I wrote before at 10 am we started our ride into the wilderness of Tasmania. First of all, we went to the famous Cradle Mountain and the way up there was nicely designed for us. Another day and full load of curves. That was besides the weather just perfect, and we had a great morning ride. And if I think back at the cloudy sky at that moment? I´m still impressed that we did not once need our rain gear. Anyway, much more interesting was the walk through the Devils station where we saw heaps of devils and some other little feller, so that we got an idea where the noises in the next night will come from down here. After that, it was time to ride down south towards Queenstown where we will spend the night before we move on to Hobart. On the way to Zeehan, which is our lunch stop for the today, we smelt a lot from the bush fire from the last weeks and actually it was closer than we thought. Helicopters felt their nuggets and took of all the time to protect the nature on the West coast and all the little villages what we passed along the way. And don't worry it was more than save for us!!! Otherwise, I would not take the roads over there. But it was something special - the sky changed his colure and sometimes it felt even like a sunset, when the sun tried to break through the clouds and the smoke. Just look at the pictures, you would not guess that this is taken at 3 pm. Well, after such we went down to Strahan and from there to Queenstown. And of course, the end like it began with a stunning curvy run through the mountains. It was like a 3-course menu today!! The Starter: the way from the Ferry to Cradle Mountain Main: The Smokey Lunch Dessert: The Road to Queenstown All in one: It was a great day, even if we still feel the long ride from Yesterday to the ferry. See you tomorrow Michaela and Axel
Hello, here we are again Today we want to discover another piece of Tasmania. The landscape is changing again. Empty roads in the highlands over forests and lakes to remote areas. The Iron Blow Lookout was unfortunately still in the fog, but soon we meet the sun. Rainforests line our way. A nice walk through the River Natur Track loosens up our muscles a little. Coffee at St. Claire's Lake is of course a must. Australia's deepest lake with 167 m formed in 2 million years. We swing from curve to curve and have a lot of fun. But hunger also sets in, a lunch break at the Russel waterfall is in sight. But apparently yesterday not only the forest burned but also here in the kitchen. But delicious sandwiches were offered. We don't want to get tired and tonight there's something delicious in Hobart. Where we stay two nights to rest for the next exciting days or we explore something in the area. There will be a lot going on here at the weekend, because when we went on the ferry, there were another 80 motorcycles. Here is traditionally the Bunny Run every year in favor of children with cancer and a Harley meeting. This will be fun Stay tuned Axel and Michaela will continue to report
Good evening from Hobart in Tasmania Today is our rest day and of course there would be the opportunity to ride, but in our case we took a day off? The reason is simple - the weather was mixed with rain and clouds and it wasn't exactly warm either. So that means it's time for the city!!! Some of us went to see the Mona Modern Museum of Modern Art, which is truly unique, and the reason why - well, you have to come to Hobart for that. But I can promise you that you won't forget it. Some went to the city's harbor, where you can find everything from restaurants to various stores and on weekends there is also the famous Salamanca Market. The market itself is famous for local arts and crafts and gourmet food. And if you have a day off, you can also book a massage in one of the many massage studios and rumor has it that some people have taken advantage of this. I think this is a rest day that we needed to be fit for the second half of our tour. And luckily for us, the weather supposed to be good tomorrow when we leave the city and drive to Launceston. So, stay tuned for tomorrow's 400 km day on the east coast of Tasmania. Michaela and Axel
Goodbye Hobart and Launceston here we come The rest day is over, and it is time to keep on moving!!! And so, we did. Getting out of a big city on a Sunday is a piece of cake, because nobody is awake. So, that we get quite easy to the first playground of the day. What I mean is a wonderful curvy road, just between the Mount Morrison Forest Reserve and the Gravelly Ridge Conservation Area. That is a road what wakes you up after a rest day, plus it brought us toward the east coast of Tasmania. where we will ride along for the second third of the day. After a nice coffee break on the Prosser River with sun in our face we moved on towards north where we passed the Rocky Hills and stopped for some pictures on Kelvedon Beach and the Spiky Bridge. It was already a perfect riding day, because of no traffic and the stunning landscape, which is totally different from the West Coast of Tasmania. Next highlight along the way was the Freycinet-Nationalparc (Coles Bay), where we had lunch and the combination of the pink shining granite rocks with the white beaches, and turquoise blue sea? What else do you need to be happy!!!???? In our case definitely nothing. As a sweetener in the third part of the day we topped the day with the Elephant Pass, which is always good fun to ride up, even if it is not the longest or the highest pass. From there it was not that far anymore to the hotel of the day, and we should arrive not too late because Michaela welcomed us with an Edelweiss Boot Beer. That has been our remarkable 430 km of the day. Thanks to all of you for a great ride Michaela and Axel
Time flies and we are already on our way to the ferry again today. But before we go to boarding, we discover very remote areas of northeast Tasmania. The Tasmanian Highway leads us directly into the rainforest but nature changes again soon. The green highlands and the wide meadows delight our eyes. And then Axel "surprises" us with a picnic in a sunny place by the sea. A dessert still needs to come. In the Bluebeery Café there is blueberry ice cream, boah how delicious. There we also meet our "outliers" They went on a trip to look at the Platpus. Find out what it is. Well, and then we are already at the check-in for the ferry. A whole track only motorcycles over 70 . She stays quiet overnight and we wake up again in Geelong. Now we have three more days for our great journey Stay on it Axel and Michaela
Wow today the day starts very early. 5:15 comes the announcement: at 6:00 we have to get off the ferry, hello it's dark outside. Well, I know a café there. From there, hot coffee and delicious breakfast. The sun has time to warm up. Then it's time for the G O R - great ocean road. 240 km long built from 1912-1932 by the soldiers who returned from the war. Today we only drive half tomorrow the rest. First stop from famous bells beach / Torquay One of the most beautiful surf areas. A photo at the Great Ocean Road sign, was not easy with four buses full of Chinese ;-) Unfortunately, it started to rain, but koalas are waterproof. Now we can rest in Appolo Bay. Because tomorrow we want to go high. Stay curious Axel and Michaela
Good morning from the Great Ocean Road at Apollo Bay Today, is the day of highlights!!! First of all, we started with our animal bucket list. Where we needed a check mark for Koalas and Kangaroos. So, the goal was clear and the destination to find some was nearby and on top I know this forest quite well. First stop has been in the forest down to Cape Otway, what means one eye on the road and the second in the forest to spot some Koalas. And? Mission completed, after some kilometres through the forest I found some close to the road and not to high up in the trees. So, we parked the motorcycles, and I told our explorer a couple of fun facts about the Koalas. And if you like to know more about them? you can ask doctor google or you see them with us live, what makes way more fun and is way more impressive. First check mark of the morning and now: where are the locals (Kangaroos)? It took us not long to find some, just out of the forest on the first field they had a great time, because of the weather, slightly cloudy and some spray and quite fresh as I used to say to this temperature. There has been almost no tourist on the way. From there we went back on the main road and after a nice section of a curvy road we took a break with Pancakes and good coffee, which warmed us. Well, and now it was time to see the world like a Koala!!! We went straight from the coffee to the top tree walk where we saw the world from 46 m high above. It is so impressive the Otway national Park!!!! After that little hike it was time to have some lunch and for that we surprised once more our explorers with a Picnic - this time from Michaela. It is halftime of the day, but we got to see more from the Great Ocean Road and on some point, you can't avoid the tourist part. What means it was time to have a look at the "12" Apostle, the London Arch and my favourite spot: Bay of Islands!!!! This day was not long if you look at the milage what we have done, but what we have seen we will never forget. A great day comes to an end and tomorrow we will ride our final route to Melbourne where a journey of a lifetime will come to an end Michaela and Axel
How quickly time flies. We can hardly believe it, today I start our last day of driving. A great breakfast directly with a view of the sea, and a show insert of the local horse club makes us get on the motorcycles in a good mood. We drive a bit more through the Otway National Park, through green meadows and cow pastures. It's still a bit fresh, so a coffee stop and a cow to people talk. At Lake Colac we stroll through the Botanic Garden. In a loving family cafe we strengthen ourselves to go to the last part of Melbourne. I am very proud to have brought the whole group back through the chaotic traffic. Great team work Now it's time to hand in motorcycles. After fantastic 14 days, without any incidents, many curves and even more impressions in the luggage, we will look back on our trip again tonight at Ferwell. After the tour is before the tour. We are happy to welcome you again on another exciting journey, somewhere in the world. We thank you very much for the great time Your Tourguides Axel and Michaela
