Adratic Rollercoaster Extreme (4SC2501)

The start of our tour began in Klagenfurt. From there, the route took us south over the winding Loibl Pass, where we reached Slovenia after around an hour. Towards late morning, we arrived at the Postojna Caves - a fascinating stalactite cave system that is one of the largest and most famous in Europe. We took a small train deep into the cave and then explored the underground stalactite formations on foot, which grew out of the ceiling and floor in fantastic shapes. After the impressive tour, we continued our journey. The route meandered through remote areas in the Slovenian hinterland - past dense forests, small villages and a varied landscape. The narrow and winding roads made for particularly varied driving moments. In the afternoon, we reached the border with Croatia and finally arrived in Motovun - a historic town situated high up on a hill with a magnificent panorama over the green heart of Istria. The area is famous for its truffle deposits, and the view of the rolling hills at the end of the day was the perfect end to our first leg of the tour.

On the second day, we started our tour in Motovun and made our way to Brestova. Once there, we took the ferry - a smooth crossing of around 20 minutes - to the island of Cres. Once we arrived in the town of the same name, we strolled along the pleasant waterfront promenade. While some of us cooled off in the sea, others treated themselves to a delicious ice cream for refreshment. After our stay on Cres, we took another ferry that took us to the island of Krk. There we fortified ourselves with a lunch overlooking the picturesque harbor and promenade - including freshly caught fish from the grill. In the afternoon we set off on our return journey: We crossed the imposing Krk Bridge back to the mainland and on to Motovun. The day was a successful combination of relaxed driving fun, culinary highlights and magnificent views.

The third day of our trip began with a brisk drive through the bustling outskirts of Rijeka. Our destination: the legendary Jadranska Magistrala - a coastal road that is considered a real paradise among motorcyclists. With its numerous bends, steep rock faces and spectacular views of the Adriatic Sea, it was pure riding pleasure from the very first kilometer. At lunchtime, we took a break right by the sea. Some took the opportunity to jump into the cool water, while others simply enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere on the shore. The coastal road continued to delight us in the afternoon with its panorama of sea views and rugged rock formations. Before leaving the coast, we stopped once more to take in the view of the maritime panorama at our leisure. The route then took us over the Velebit Mountains into the Croatian hinterland - a route that made the driver's heart beat faster with its mixture of wide bends and tight hairpin bends. The day impressively demonstrated how varied Croatia is: from sunny coasts to rocky mountain ranges and tranquil forest landscapes. This diversity not only characterized the day, but also reflected the character of the entire tour. After a last short stop for a coffee, we continued towards our accommodation. On the way, we passed the Plitvice Lakes - more on this the next day. Our comfortable hotel finally provided the ideal setting for an eventful day.

Our second restday of the tour wad just perfect. A beautiful hike around the Plitwice lakes in the morning, then a very special visit of a lost place, an abundoned military airport sn a great ride through ghe mountains. What a day!

Unfortunately our last riding day, but I think it wss the best one. Coumtless curves through the Slovenian and Austrian Alps and 7 small passes. A lot of fun! It is hard to say good bye to a great group and. Hope to see you again!
