SPTSM25064 BMW MOTORRAD DAYS - FROM BARCELONA TO MUNICH

It's 4:45 pm and it's time for our first meeting. Welcome to the tour, will kick off this tour right away with our welcome briefing and then the best part, the bike handover. And we both Tour Guides are looking forward to seeing our group. After a warm welcome, we went straight on to the introduction of the tour and then to the first look and handover of the motorcycles. I would say that was a successful start into the tour. So what's missing on our first day? Right, our first meal together. And that's exactly what we're doing now! We enjoy our first meal together on our tour. Well, that's our first day / evening together and tomorrow the journey starts with the ride to La Seu d'Urgell (still Spain) For now there is not much more to say and thats why we will say good night and see you tomorrow. Felix and Axel
What a georgeous way to roll in to an amazing experience! We started in Castelldefels near Barcelona, had a curvey & twisted ride to the more than 1000 year old monastery of Montserrat. Our next stop, the impressing Parador of Cardona - a medevial Castle without compare - offered us a unique panoramic view and laid Catalunya, the Catalan Region, to our feet. We now where really ready to hopp off our normal daily business and focus completely on inhale new impressions: one of the 1st class motorcycle museums in the world in Bassella, taking a loop round one lovely lake and than - via Peramola - heading to our ridingsday destination La Seu d'Urgell with its one of a kind cathedral.
The Pyrenees Day!!! A wonderful good morning from Spain. It's 8:15 am and the group is dying to know what we are going to experience today!!! So we get straight into the morning briefing. This riding day is definitely dedicated to the Pyrenees, because today it's goodbye Spain and Andorra here we come. Or rather Andorra and France - we're on our way. First, we crossed the border into the tax haven of Andorra, but the passes we tackled were much more interesting for us. The first appetizer for the Zag was the “Col d'Ordino (1981m)”, which was beautiful to ride and a good foretaste of what was to come. After a coffee break and enjoying the beautiful landscape, we headed up to the highest pass in the Pyrenees, the “Port d'Envalira (2408m)”. What a breathtaking ride and we can already say that about this day!!! After what felt like 1000 bends up and down, we crossed the border into France where we had some refreshments before our Tour of France moment of the day. Immediately after lunch our rollercoaster ride took us to the “Port de Pailhères (2001)” which rewarded us with a view that perhaps my words can't appreciate enough and so enjoy the pictures of our day to the fullest. It was a perfect riding day all round and as a highlight on top we rode through the gorge to Axat to park our bikes in the medieval town of Carcassonne at the end of the day. A brilliant day comes to an end and now it's time to treat ourselves to a meal. See you tomorrow Felix and Axel
Today we started from the medevial treasure Carcassonne direction northwest. The narrow, twisty winding roads lead us through two french National Parks: The mild Haute Languedoc National Park at first and second the bit rougher Grandes Causses National Park - both real Landscape-Jewels. We inhealed a fresh impression of french living at our stopovers under the mint blue sky again, plain sunshine the whole day long and challenging highTemperatures. A though riding day ended in nice Millau and an exceptional Dinner. We all are excited, what tomorrow will bring ...
Hello from France, our journey continues and with big steps because today we have around 330 km ahead of us. First of all, breakfast because we need a bit more power today than in the last few days. Then we went straight to the briefing, which was a bit shorter because it was getting warmer by the minute. Well then, off we go on the tour. Getting out of Millau was done in minutes and then we went straight to the first highlight of the morning: Cevennes National Park!!! 913 square kilometers of pure nature and us right in the middle of it. Our route took us further along the Tarn River from yesterday to the heart of the National Park. Simply breathtaking. Steep stone walls to our right and left provide us with shade as we dived deeper and deeper into a world that invites us to stay. But nevertheless, we have to keep going. Because the Gorges de l'Ardèche is our afternoon destination and another highlight not to be missed. Just for the record: of course there was a coffee break and lunch in between and it was very good, even if the 43 C outside temperature made eating a bit of a challenge. But let's continue with the program. As mentioned, our afternoon destination was the Gorges de l'Ardèche and I have to admit it's a dream of a scenery. We sure won't forget this day so quickly, and not just because of the incredible heat. So enjoy the pictures and who knows maybe you want to see it too and we'll see you on this tour in the future. We are now getting ready for tomorrow and until then enjoy your evening. Felix and Axel
This day was an awesome riding-day. So awesome, that pictures are just pictures - but the feeling, when you ride along this roads is what you will remember a lifetime. We started in the plains formed by the river Rhone, headed in the mountains via Col de la Battaille and Col de la Machine to reach a very highlight of the day: The Combe Laval, one of this famous french Balcony-Roads, with ist overhanging rocks and short tunnels - all cut in the vertical rocks of a breathtaking canyon. A good lunch with loads of melted cheese and tons of delicious ham brought the energy for the next stages: the Canyon of la Bourne and the thousand year old monastery Grande Chartreuse - the base of the Carthusian order. From there on winding roads we arrived our days destination: Aix-les-Bains - the Riviera o the Alps.
A new day, a new route!!! Today our journey continues towards the Alps, or rather we make our way to Chamonix, the entrance to the motorcyclists' paradise of the Alps. But don't worry, that doesn't mean this day was boring!!! Directly after Aix-les-Bains we went straight up to the “Belvédère du Revard” for a photo and a last look down into the valley to Aix-les-Bains. From there we had to concentrate and focus on the road because some of the cows crossing the road had left us something behind. Apart from that, the ride down and up to the Col de Plainpalais (1174 m) was a real dream. Almost no traffic and breathtaking nice curvy roads. One more thing: today was our first day with normal temperatures (23 - 30 C), what a relief!!! Once we reached the bottom of the valley, it was time to get off the bike as the enchanting town of Annecy on the lake of the same name was at the top of our to-do list for today! Annecy is also known as the little Venice and for good reason. Because the lake flows into a 3.6 km long river that runs directly through the picturesque little town and therefore has numerous bridges. After a coffee and our exploration, we continued towards lunchtime. Of course we could have eaten right there, but it was getting dangerously warm again, so we decided to have lunch on a terrace high above the lake. A top location to enjoy. And even though we would have preferred to stay there, it was time to set off as we still had 160 km to go. For the rest of the day, we continued to delve deeper into the Alps on indescribably beautiful roads and passes. Col du Marais + “Croix-Fry, Col de la” + “Aravis, Col des” turned the afternoon into a wonderful day of riding. All in all: This day is something to be proud of - in every respect. Well, and now we are at the foot of the world-famous Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps, and will spend the night here before crossing the border into Switzerland tomorrow. After so much text, it's time for a few pictures to give you a better impression of today. Have fun and see you tomorrow Felix and Axel
Today we exchanged the Mount Blanc against other fascinating glaciers. But step by step ... from Chamonix the lead us via Col de la Forclaz and Martigny into the Rhone-Valley with its beautiful, steep Vinyards and lovely Apricot-Gardens. And so time went quickly as we reached the Super-Highlights of this day. Up the Furkapass und to the impressive orogin of the River Rhone - one of the mightiest and most import Rivers of France. Afterwards Grimselpass and as a Dessert then Sustenpass with its mindblowing glacier. Wooowww -
It's day 8 of our trip and today we are traveling from Switzerland to Italy and back to Switzerland for a good reason!!!! Or rather for the best reason - beautiful passes in the middle of the Alps!!! First we went over the St. Gotthard Pass, which is a dream, because since the tunnel was built in 1970, hardly anyone has driven on the pass road. But even though the pass is a great start to the day, we had to keep going, because behind us a very dark cloud cover was approaching which didn't look like much fun. So after a few photos, we headed down into the valley to escape the rain. At the bottom, the rain clouds disappeared in the rear-view mirror and in front of us blue skies that promised another breathtaking day. After a coffee stop, we headed for the 2nd of 5 passes. The Passo di San Bernardino (2067 m) was our next destination. At the beginning there was a bit of traffic but at the end the sea of tourists cleared and we enjoyed every meter. We then continued towards the Passo dello Spluga (Splügen Pass 2115 m). And as the name suggests, this was the point where we left Switzerland behind us and entered Italy for the first time on the tour. Once we reached the top, it was also lunch time - Italy style!!! Gnocchi for everyone. And even though I've written it many times here on the blog, the Alps playground is a dream for every motorcyclist and it can't be mentioned often enough!!!! Admittedly, the path down from the Passo dello Spluga is not for everyone, as the hairpin bends are quite demanding. But in our case, I had no worries and our group made its way down into the valley. Once we reached the bottom, it was time to head back up again and we crossed the border into Switzerland to enjoy pass 4 and 5 of the day. First, after the border, we went up the Maloja Pass and then finished off today's final stage with the “Julierpass/Pass dal Güglia (2284)”. It was a brilliant day and tomorrow will actually be the final of the passes, because tomorrow we're going up the “Passo dello Stelvio/Stilfser Joch (2720m)”. So look forward to tomorrow and enjoy the pictures from today Felix and Axel
BMW Days here we come!!!
