The wait is over. Our Fun4Ride tour through the motorcycle paradise of Andalusia starts today.
I would like to welcome nine highly motivated and excited motorcyclists from Canada, the USA, the Netherlands and South Africa.
We start with our welcome briefing. I will give my guests – Albert, Mike, Blake, Melvin, Mark, Travis, Martyn, Kees and Fraser – all the information they need.
Yes, you have to wait a little longer before I give you your motorcycles for the next eight days. ;-)
In Central Europe, autumn has taken hold, but here in the south of Spain it can still be endured wonderfully at 22 degrees.
And not only because of that, because here should be the paradise for motorcyclists. That's exactly what we want to find out.
We will leave Málaga on the first day over the mountains and also end up in the tangle of curves. This is a foretaste of what awaits us.
Our first stage destination is La Viñuela. To get to La Calahorra, we have to drive around the Sierra Nevada. At the end of the day we will cross the Puerto de la Ragua pass at 2000 meters.
The next day we continue to Almería, the increasingly popular town by the sea.
This area is very popular in winter with many motorcycle manufacturers who carry out their tests here.
We will stay here for two nights. We can either let our souls dangle by the sea or maybe ride a moped. No matter what we do, it will do us good.
The next day will be our longest, so we start early and enjoy it to the fullest.
The name "Sierra" means mountain range, some of which we will take under the wheels today. In between it goes through the countless olive groves.
Arroyo Frio, a small mountain village somewhere in the middle of nowhere, is our destination.
Not enough curves?
Well, then it continues with long, flowing curves until you're dizzy from all to go on either side.
After what feels like a million olive trees, there are also almonds and grapes growing in the extensive wine-growing areas, as well as, of course, citrus fruits.
Destination: Jean
Our last day will be no less exciting and enjoyable. The Sierra Pandera surprises us with its unexpected natural beauty. We drive along small roads to a reservoir before the traffic of Málaga overtakes us.
Back to Málaga.
Oh, it's over already?
If you enjoyed following us here on the blog, then come here for some curve-hugging yourself.
There we are, all so excited.
We hold our Welcombriefing, and after a long wait everyone finally gets their chosen motorcycle.
We test how we store our luggage, discuss a few more questions.
A delicious dinner makes us fall into bed, with the certainty..... It starts tomorrow. Finally !!
So look in again tomorrow
Your Michaela
NOW WE START
We leave Málaga via the Montes de Málaga and immediately find ourselves in a paradise of curves.
Fantastic views of the Mediterranean await us. Because we have great weather.
Our first coffee stop in sleepy Colmenar sets us up for more.
Via the Velez Valley, we reach the world-famous beaches of the Costa del Sol.
Perfect for lunch in a lovely fish restaurant.
The mountains of the Sierra Chaparral put an even wider smile on our faces.
Curves, curves, and more curves.
We don't have time to catch a glimpse of the Sierra Nevada.
But we'll drive over it tomorrow. ;-)
We continue along the Sierra de Tajeda.
Until we reach our destination for today, Viñuela.
What a fantastic start!
We remain excited to see what's next.
Good morning, world!
With renewed motivation, we embark on a new, winding day!
We start right off with a fantastic, winding road that leads through almond orchards. At 1,000 meters, it gets a bit chilly, but no matter, the sun is shining.
After endless curves through nowhere, I find a small café in an even smaller town. The guys are happy.
Since we're a bit early on the Costa del Sol, we decide to drive a little further for lunch.
The whole day we basically follow the Sierra Nevada. We see many of the white Andalusian villages that Pueblos Blancos mentioned.
At the very end, we climb to the Puerto de la Ragua at 2,000 meters.
After a few curves, we descend again and reach La Calahorra.
A new day of riding can't start any better than yesterday's ended. Or can it? ;-)
Well, then let's head back up to the Sierra Nevada, more specifically to the Puerto de la Ragua.
A great warm-up, we all agree.
But our day is going to be even more spectacular.
We're tackling six passes today.
Six ups, six downs. And all of this with basically just curves.
Our tires will be burning.
We're driving through the Alpujarras National Park and on through the Sierra de Baza in the province of Granada.
Time and again, we climb to 2000 meters.
The absolute highlight today, however, is "La Téteca," also known as "Stelvio Almeriensis."
It lies at 1820 meters and looks spectacular.
And the curves are spectacular!
The almond, lemon, and olive trees are also impressive.
To round off this wonderful day, I have a beautiful road to Almería.
At least on the motorcycle.
Because our dinner was no less spectacular.
Today is a rest day.
That means everyone does what they want.
Some sleep in, others explore Almería, and still others can't get enough of riding.
So, hop on your bike and off we go! We'll take you along beautiful roads in the hinterland and back to the coast, where there are surprising views.
After a long day of rest, we leave Almería today.
To escape the hustle and bustle, we briefly take the highway before heading into the hinterland on beautiful, winding roads. We'll cross several mountain ranges. First, however, we'll head through the desert of the province of Almería. The highest peak is 2,168 meters high, and the Sierra de los Filabres offers us fantastic views. Our lunch spot makes men happy. They serve meat here.
It's that simple, besides riding a motorcycle with its many curves.
The Puerto de Tíscar is a religious symbol for the people who live here; for us, it's pure riding pleasure.
Today we'll see even more olive trees. Combined with the many curves, it's a perfect ride.
Sometimes there are long, fast turns, then short, sharp ones. Right, left, right, left, and so on.
Our start today is impressive: along the Embalse de Cazorla, once over the Puerto de las Palomas, and then through the Cazorla National Park.
We'll cross the Sierra Segura and the Sierra Morena.
An absolute paradise for curves!
Before we arrive in Jeán, we'll take on the Sierra Andújar.
It was a long but beautiful day.
Today, unfortunately, we're already embarking on our last day of riding.
It's back to Málaga, where it all began seven days ago.
Most of the time today we'll be riding through olive groves. These provide a third of Europe's olive production.
The drive through the Sierra de la Pandera surprises us with its incredibly beautiful nature.
In Casabermeja, there are now two options: Either we take the motorway to get to Málaga quickly, or... oh, what am I asking? Of course, my curve junkies aren't tired of taking the last few bends.
With a great deal of sadness, we hand over our motorcycles after 2,000 km.
But... the end of a tour is before the next tour.
We had an incredible time together.
There was so much laughter, everyone looked out for each other.
We were a fantastic team and made new friends.
It was inevitable that we all got nicknames.
I can only thank you guys from the bottom of my heart: Poppy, Milky, Chicken (Upgrade Rooster 🐔), Ant-Man, Sweathart, Princess (Little), Frankenstein, Stone (Cold), and Lamb-Shops.
Your Queen 🫅
