Atlantic Mountains Extreme - 4CI2601

An early start at the hotel took us to the ferry, and 50 minutes later we arrived in motorcycle heaven. Endless twisty roads through three different climate zones, perfect asphalt, and sunshine all day long! Roque Agando, Garajonay National Park, Mirador de Abrante via tiny single-lane back roads, blasting once more through the laurel forest, Valle Gran Rey, lunch at the beach, and then empty roads winding up and down all the way back to San Sebastián… wow. What a ride on an island just 24 km in diameter. You have to come and see it for yourself—otherwise you wouldn’t believe it!
Andrea was in for the morning loop on La Gomera so off we went:-) The police in front of us friendly waved us by and we enjoyed the empty twisty roads again on this beautiful island. El majesty El Teide in front of us we took a couple of fotos before we returned to the hotel. 30 minutes later we were all together on the ferry to Tenerife again. Now we climb El Teide and soon arrive on the moon...how beautiful that is! We descend on the eastern side and via backcountry roads we reach the Teno mountains, with 7Mio years the oldest part of this island. Super nice and super touristy as well, but we get some nice fotos and a relaxed coffee outside of Masca overlooking the great scenery. Coming now down on the green side of Tenerife we tackle a great zigzag ramp going up again and finally finish our tour in a beautiful Casa Rural on the slopes of the Teide. Another day in paradise!
Through terraced fields we climb the slopes further, ride on unbelievable narrow roads thru small villages until we rech a viewpoint high above the Orotava valley, the former cultural heart of the Guanches living here and nowadays the fruit, vegetable and vine chamber of Tenerife. What a view before we climb El Teide thru the Corona Forestal again on a race track and arrive on the moon once more:-). How many facets this island have...amazing. Riding down on the other side on twisty (what else :-)) roads in order to reach the ferry to Gran Canaria, another micro continent for us to discover! From the habor in Agaete we cross 6 barrancos before we climb southwards through terraced fields, not leaving out narrow singlelane roads of the beaten track, towards the center of the island. More twisties to come and then all of a sudden a road closure - funny because just before we discussed an alternative steep concrete path to the top of Gran Canaria. Now we have to take it in 1st gear. Fun pure and then we arrive in our great hotel at Cruz de Tejeda with top view on 1500m. Yiehaa and we'll done brave riders!
With beautiful vistas we start the day. On backcountry roads, twisty and narrow again towards the Caldera Bandama . 3 circles around and we are on top, views naja, a bit cloudy on this side of the island today. Then we hop a couple of barrancos before we tackle the high center of GC again, the landscape, colors and shapes of rockfaces continously changing, sooo beautiful! Our road is closed, so we have to take a different routing as we head down in the barranco Tejeda, just stunning. Via Artenara we ride back to our hotel where we enjoy a bootbeer after we parked our motorcycles...
And all of a sudden it is our last riding day. In zero traffic we make our way to Atenara where our special track starts...we ride deeper and steeper into a canyon, the road is now single lane. Without traffic relaxing and the scenery just spectacular! After a viewpoint stop we continue down to the habor in order to catch the ferry. The sea is a bit rough and our big Trimaran rolls while making its way with approximately 60 km/h back to Tenerife. Once more we climb through the Corona Forestal with its beautiful and strong pine trees, then we take another race track of the locals down to Guimar in order to get onto our feast today: The TF28 with approximately 600 curves on 80 kilometers...Just wow! And then we are back at our tourstart hotel. Well done Kelly, Steve and Andrea! Such a lovely group and thank you very much for participating in this tour! See you soon somewhere again on this beautiful earth! Holger
