SPT26066 Japan goes Ducati - from the Alps to WDW

In the morning of our first day of the trip, our Japanese guests are up and ready to go early. We leave the hotel in Erding and head first to Wasserburg to take a few photos of the historic old town. We make only a brief stop at Lake Chiemsee to have a cold drink or an ice cream. The temperatures are very high today (38°C), and the heat actually spurs us on to continue on to Berchtesgaden and up to the Kehlsteinhaus. We hope it will be a little cooler up on the top of the mountain. Much to our delight, the pedestrian tunnel leading to the Kehlsteinhaus lift is pleasantly cool, so much so that we’d love to just stay there. But of course, this historic place draws us like magic and also the incredible views of Salzburg in the distance and of the lake Königssee below us are simply mind-blowing. A typical Bavarian lunch gives us the energy we need for the rest of the journey to Kaprun. 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 ツアー初日の朝、日本のゲストたちは早朝から準備を整え、出発の準備ができていました。私たちはエルディングのホテルを出発し、まずはヴァッサーブルクへ向かい、歴史ある旧市街の写真を何枚か撮りました。 キーム湖では、冷たい飲み物を飲んだりアイスクリームを食べたりするために、ほんの少し立ち寄るだけだ。今日は気温が非常に高く（38°C）、この暑さゆえに、私たちはむしろベルヒテスガーデンへと向かい、ケールシュタインハウスへ登っていくことにした。山の上の方が少し涼しいことを願っています。嬉しいことに、ケールシュタインハウスへのリフトにつながる歩行者用トンネル内はとても心地よく涼しく、できればずっとそこにいたいほどです。しかし、もちろん、歴史に彩られたこの場所と、ザルツブルクやケーニヒスゼーまで見渡せる素晴らしい景色に、私たちはまるで魔法にかかったかのように惹きつけられます。典型的なバイエルン風の昼食を摂り、カプルーンまでの残りの道のりに備えて元気をチャージします。

The Grossglockner High Alpine Road, with its impressive curves, is going to thrill us this morning! We’re already excited as we gather in the parking lot for the morning briefing.Today, Melanie leads our Japanese motorcycle friends all the way up to the Edelweissspitze and then down to Lienz. The breathtaking scenery on the Grossglockner provides us with fantastic photo opportunities to capture this memory. Unfortunately, after Lienz, the access road to the Dolomites was closed, so we had to skip this part of the route and take a detour around. Later on, the approaching thunderstorm also threw a wrench in our plans, so we ended the day’s ride by heading directly to Bolzano and then to Klobenstein. 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 壮大なカーブが続くグロースグロックナー高山道路が、今朝私たちを魅了してくれること間違いなし！カプルーンにあるホテルの駐車場では、すでに期待が高まっています。メラニーが、日本のバイク仲間たちをエーデルワイスシュピッツェまで案内し、その後リエンツへと下っていきます。グロースグロックナーの息をのむような風景は、この思い出を形に残すための素晴らしい写真をもたらしてくれます。 残念ながら、ドロミテへのアクセス道路が通行止めになっていたため、この区間は迂回せざるを得ませんでした。その後、近づいてきた雷雨も予定を狂わせてしまい、その日の走行はボツェンへ直行し、クロベンシュタインで終えることになりました。

We’re staying here in Klobenstein/Bolzano for two nights so we can spend even more time riding the winding roads of this region of Italy. East of Bolzano lies the vast region of the Dolomites. But west of Bolzano lies the “mother” of all mountain passes in Europe—the Stelvio Pass! And this mountain pass road, with its challenging hairpin turns on the east side, is today’s highlight for us riders. We’ll have to tackle 48 hairpin turns. Once we reach the top, we’re rewarded with Bruno’s sausage sandwich, which, of course, tastes especially good to everyone after the challenge. The trail down then takes us over the Umbrail Pass, and into the small medieval town of Glurns, where we can cool off with some Italian gelato. 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 私たちは、このイタリアの地域の曲がりくねった道をさらに走り尽くすために、ここクロベンシュタイン／ボルツァーノに2泊する。ボルツァーノの東には、広大なドロミテ地方が広がっています。しかし、ボルツァーノの西には、ヨーロッパのすべての峠の「母」とも呼ばれるスティルフス峠があります！そして、東側にあるこの峠道は、挑戦的なヘアピンカーブが連続しており、今日のドライブのハイライトとなるでしょう。48カ所のヘアピンカーブを攻略しなければなりません。 頂上に到着すると、ブルーノのソーセージサンドがご褒美として待っていて、この挑戦を終えた後だけに、誰にとっても格別に美味しく感じられた。 下山ルートはその後、ウンブライル峠を越え、中世の小さな町グルルンスでは、暑さを和らげるためにイタリアのジェラートを楽しむ。

We’re saying goodbye to our beautiful hotel in Klobenstein, because today our journey continues southward. The World Ducati Week in Misano is getting closer every day, and we’re slowly but surely approaching our final destination, Rimini. But today, we’re heading to Bassano del Grappa first. Fortunately, the temperatures have become a bit milder, so riding is more pleasant now. First, we ride to Lake Karer, which lies at the end of the pass of the same name. It is certainly one of the most beautiful lakes in the Dolomites. Via the Lavazé Pass and the winding Rolle Pass, we reach Monte Grappa our last pass in the southern Dolomites. However, the onset of rain once again throws a wrench in our plans, so we head straight to Bassano del Grappa. But that's no big deal, because it gives us more time to check out the amazing Ponte Vecchio degli Alpini in Bassano's old town. Plus, a visit to the Grappa Museum there is a must ;) And of course, we'll pick up a bottle or two of grappa as souvenirs. 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 🇯🇵 クロベンシュタインの素敵なホテルを再び後にして、今日は再び南へと旅を続けます。ミサノで開催される「ワールド・ドゥカティ・ウィーク」が日ごとに近づいてきており、私たちはゆっくりと、しかし確実に目的地であるリミニへと近づいています。しかし、今日はまずはバッサーノ・デル・グラッパへ向かいます。 幸いにも気温がやや和らいだため、ドライブが再び快適になりました。まずは、同名の峠の麓にあるカレル湖へ向かいます。間違いなく、ここはドロミテで最も美しい湖の一つに数えられるでしょう。ラヴァツェ峠と曲がりくねったロルレ峠を越えて、モンテ・グラッパへと向かいます。しかし、降り始めた雨が再び計画を台無しにしてしまったため、私たちはバッサノ・デル・グラッパへと直行することになりました。でも、それは全く問題ありません。そのおかげで、旧市街にある素晴らしい「ポンテ・ヴェッキオ・デッリ・アルピーニ」をじっくりと見学する時間がもっと取れるからです。それに、そこにあるグラッパ博物館への訪問は外せません ;) もちろん、お土産にグラッパを1本か2本買うのもお決まりですね。

Today’s tour takes us to Cittadella, a small medieval town surrounded by fortified walls. After a short stroll through the old town, we’re back on our Ducatis, heading east towards the next highlight of the day: Chioggia, a port town built on stilts on the Adriatic coast. Here we enjoy our lunch with a magnificent view of the canals and the Vigo Bridge. As we continue our journey, it gets warmer and warmer. An iced coffee helps us cool down before we reach our hotel in Bologna. 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵 今日のツアーは、城壁に囲まれた中世の小さな町、チッタデッラへと向かいます。 旧市街を少し散策した後、再びドゥカティにまたがり、東へと走り、今日の次の見どころであるキオッジャへ向かいます。キオッジャは、アドリア海沿岸に杭の上に築かれた港町です。 ここでは、運河とヴィーゴ橋の素晴らしい景色を眺めながら、ランチを楽しみます。 旅を続けるにつれて、気温はどんどん上がっていきます。ボローニャのホテルに到着する前に、アイスコーヒーでひと息ついて涼をとります。

"The further south, the more Ducati" is today’s motto :) Needless to say, we couldn’t leave Bologna this morning without touring the Ducati factory and visiting the Ducati Museum! Luckily, we’d already booked our tickets, because upon our arrival at the premisses, there were already quite a few Ducatistas on the factory grounds. Conveniently, the Ducati Store is right next door, so we also did some serious shopping. For lunch, we simply walked one house down to the America Graffiti Road Café, in true style. Afterwards, we headed straight for Rimini and Misano on our Ducatis. But not before taking a nice detour through the winding mountains of Italy's province of Emilia-Romagna. Before finally parking near our hotel in Rimini, we rode up the hairpin turns of the small city-state of San Marino to enjoy and photograph the view of the surrounding Italian countryside. 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵 「南へ行くほどドゥカティ」が今日のモットーです :) 言うまでもなく、今朝はドゥカティの工場を見学し、ドゥカティ博物館を訪れずにボローニャを離れるわけにはいきませんでした！幸いなことに、チケットはすでに予約済みでした。到着してみると、工場敷地内にはすでに何人かのドゥカティスタたちが集まっていました。 便利なことに、ドゥカティストアもすぐ隣にあるため、そこでも熱心に買い物を楽しみました。昼食は、その場の雰囲気に合わせて、すぐ隣の「アメリカ・グラフィティ・ロード・カフェ」へ足を運びました。 その後、ドゥカティを走らせてリミニとミサノへと直行しました。ただし、その前にエミリア＝ロマーニャ州の山々をひと回りしました。最終的にリミニのホテル近くに駐車する前に、小さな都市国家サンマリノのヘアピンカーブを登り、周囲のイタリアの景色を楽しみ、写真を撮りました。

We’ve made it—we've reached Rimini and the World Ducati Week 2026 at the Misano race track! It’s incredible! No matter where you are within a 50-kilometer radius of Rimini, you can hear the distinctive sound of Ducati motorcycles all day long. And if you’re quick enough, you might even catch a glimpse of one zooming by the hotel ;) Our Japanese knights of the red Italian steel steeds have, of course, also set off for Misano today to spend the whole day immersing themselves in the Ducati universe at the WDW grounds. And as you can see, they’re all completely in their element! 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵 目標達成――2026年の「ワールド・ドゥカティ・ウィーク」がミサノ・サーキットで開催される！ 信じられない！ リミニから半径50キロ圏内のどこにいても、一日中ドゥカティのバイク特有のエンジン音が聞こえてくる。そして、素早く目を凝らせば、通り過ぎていくバイクを目にすることもできる ;) もちろん、赤いイタリア製スチール製の愛馬に乗る私たちの「日本の騎士たち」も、今日ミサノへと向かい、WDW会場で一日中ドゥカティの世界に浸っています。ご覧の通り、みんなすっかりその世界に夢中になっています！

An exciting week is coming to an end. Today it’s time to say goodbye. We’re taking our guests from Rimini to the airport in Milano. Angela and Melanie would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your wonderful friendship! We both had so much fun on this tour with you!
