Touring Center Alps
At last, the day has arrived – it's time for our first day on the road! Today, we'll ride back and forth between Tyrol and Bavaria. Our route takes us through the beautiful Leutasch Valley and into the former blue-and-white Kingdom of Bavaria. Expect winding mountain roads, breathtaking Alpine scenery, and the perfect blend of Tyrolean charm and Bavarian tradition. Get ready for an unforgettable day of spectacular views, thrilling rides, and the first highlights of our motorcycle adventure together. Our journey takes us through the charming town of Mittenwald to the stunning Lake Walchen (Walchensee). From there, we ride down the legendary Kesselberg Pass, one of Bavaria's most famous motorcycle roads, before continuing to the picturesque Lake Staffelsee. Shortly afterwards, we arrive at the magnificent Linderhof Palace, the smallest but only fully completed palace built by Bavaria's legendary Fairy Tale King, Ludwig II. The route to Lake Plansee takes us back into Tyrol, where a well-deserved lunch break awaits. Recharged and ready for more, we cross the border into Bavaria once again to visit the world-famous Neuschwanstein Castle – the original inspiration for Disney's Cinderella Castle – and the neighboring Hohenschwangau Castle, both among Germany's most iconic landmarks. Our journey then continues over the winding Namlos Pass and the scenic Fern Pass before descending into the Inn Valley and returning to Seefeld, our base for this unforgettable week of motorcycle touring.
Today we left Seefeld and rode through a number of beautiful Austrian villages on our way to the Brenner Pass, crossing into the stunning South Tyrol in Italy. After enjoying our first Italian cappuccino of the day, we continued towards Passo del Giovo, where everyone had a great time riding the winding mountain roads. For lunch, we stopped at the historic birthplace of Andreas Hofer and enjoyed a traditional plate of Tiroler Spätzle before continuing our journey. In the afternoon, we climbed the famous Passo del Rombo, a spectacular mountain pass at over 2,500 metres that was once used by smugglers. The breathtaking scenery and fantastic roads made it another highlight of the day. Before heading back, we visited the motorcycle museum, where everyone was impressed by the incredible collection of classic and vintage motorcycles. We returned to the hotel through the beautiful Lech Valley and finished another fantastic day on the road with a cold boot beer in the garage, sharing stories and looking forward to tomorrow’s ride.
Today brings us to the absolute highlight of this tour: Stelvio Pass – one of those legendary Alpine roads that every motorcyclist should experience at least once in a lifetime. Our day begins with a comfortable ride along the motorway to the Reschen Pass and the picturesque Lake Reschen, where we'll take a relaxing coffee break and admire the famous church tower rising from the lake. Then it's time for the main event. Corner by corner, we climb the legendary 48 hairpin bends of Stelvio Pass, reaching an impressive altitude of 2,757 metres (9,045 ft). Breathtaking views and one of Europe's most spectacular mountain roads make this ascent an unforgettable riding experience. From the summit, we continue into the stunning Swiss Alps via the beautiful Umbrail Pass. Crossing the Ofen Pass, we descend into the Upper Inn Valley, where the River Inn is still young, crystal clear, and rushing through the alpine landscape. Following the Inn to Telfs, the final stretch takes us back up to Seefeld, bringing an incredible day of riding to a perfect close. As our youngest rider, Zacharias, summed it up: "The most fun I never want to have again."
Today’s ride takes us into the beautiful Zillertal Valley and onto the breathtaking Zillertal High Alpine Road. With every twist and turn, we climb higher into the Alps until we reach an altitude of around 2,000 metres. At Melchboden, we take a well-earned coffee break while enjoying the spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Our journey then continues past peaceful alpine meadows with grazing cows before descending back into the valley and heading towards the crystal-clear Achensee, Tyrol’s largest lake. Riding alongside the scenic Sylvenstein Reservoir, we make our way to our lunch stop before following another picturesque toll road through the Vorderriß Valley towards Mittenwald. The charming old town of Mittenwald welcomes us with its lively medieval market, bringing history to life in a truly unique setting. After treating ourselves to a delicious ice cream, we return to Seefeld, bringing another unforgettable day of spectacular Alpine motorcycling to a perfect close.
Today is our final riding day – and it is always something very special. And our customers wanted only one thing today: ride, ride, ride – and definitely not go to Innsbruck! So, it was time for some improvisation. Luckily, the Edelweiss Tour Guides know the area like the back of their hands, and they quickly put together a fantastic combination of some of the highlights from previous riding days, along with the Kühtai. First, we rode through the beautiful Leutasch Valley towards the Sylvenstein Reservoir. From there, we made a little detour into the Eng Valley to the Großer Ahornboden, one of the most beautiful and impressive valleys in the region. Back on the road, we passed Seefeld and then headed up into the Kühtai. Once again, we enjoyed the spectacular mountain scenery and winding roads before the final kilometers brought us to the Edelweiss headquarters in Mieming. There, it was finally time to say goodbye to our motorcycles. The bike return was quickly taken care of, and taxis then brought us back to our hotel in Seefeld. But there was still one final highlight waiting for us: the farewell evening. And, as so often happens, it was a very emotional one. After a week filled with curves, adventures, breathtaking landscapes and countless shared experiences, a few tears were shed – or at least bravely held back. Because one sentence probably sums up this week better than anything else: “They came as strangers and left as friends.” And that is exactly what makes a motorcycle tour with Edelweiss so special.
