We’ll tackle remote Highland roads, follow dramatic coastlines and discover landscapes that seem to belong to another planet. From the Atlantic to the Highlands Our adventure takes us far beyond the well-known highlights. We’ll go whale watching in Húsavík, feel the power of Dettifoss, one of Europe’s most impressive waterfalls, and ride through landscapes shaped by volcanoes, glaciers and centuries of relentless natural forces. We’ll encounter the immense Vatnajökull Glacier, explore glacial lagoons and stand on Iceland’s legendary black-sand beaches, where the North Atlantic crashes against the volcanic shore. And then there are the moments that simply cannot be planned: A road disappearing into the mist. A herd of sheep beside the track. A waterfall appearing around the next bend. A glacier glowing blue in the distance. Or the feeling of riding completely alone through an endless Icelandic landscape. Welcome to Reykjavík Day 1 – The Adventure Is About to Begin And just like that… Iceland Tour Number 3 of the year is underway! Our group has arrived in Reykjavík, the motorcycles are waiting, and the excitement is impossible to miss. Ahead of us are 11 days of fire, ice, gravel, glaciers, waterfalls and some of the most spectacular roads on the planet. But before we hit the road, there is one important thing to do: WELCOME BRIEFING. This is where the adventure officially starts. For the first time, the entire group comes together. Motorcycle keys are handed over, introductions are made, and we take a first look at what lies ahead. We talk about the route, the landscapes, the gravel roads and, most importantly, what makes riding in Iceland so special. Because Iceland plays by its own rules. Weather can change within minutes. Road conditions can change from one corner to the next. And nature is always in charge. So we make sure everyone knows what to expect—from riding techniques and safety to the challenges of remote roads and the unpredictable Icelandic elements. Once the practical part is done, it's time to relax. Our first dinner together. The motorcycles may still be parked outside… but the adventure has already begun. Maybe Day 1 doesn't look like the most spectacular day of the tour. No huge waterfall. No remote Highland track. No glacier yet. But every great motorcycle adventure needs a starting point. And this was ours. Tomorrow, there is no more waiting. We put on our riding gear, climb onto the motorcycles, fire up the engines and finally head out into the Land of Fire & Ice. The first kilometers are waiting. And believe us… Iceland is ready. Follow our blog over the coming days as we take you along for the ride—with photos, stories, unexpected moments and plenty of Icelandic adventure. Into the Heart of the Icelandic Wilderness – Húsavík to Egilsstaðir Today we left the north behind and headed deep into one of Iceland’s wildest regions. Beyond Húsavík, the landscape became increasingly rugged, the roads quieter, and the scenery more dramatic with every mile. Ahead of us was a day full of contrasts – from lush green canyons and thundering waterfalls to spectacular basalt formations. Iceland once again reminded us what it means to truly be on the road: little traffic, endless open spaces, and nature setting the pace. Our first major stop was Ásbyrgi Canyon, one of the most fascinating landscapes in northern Iceland. Surrounded by cliffs rising up to 100 meters, this horseshoe-shaped canyon stretches for around 3.5 kilometers through the landscape. Among the towering rock walls lies one of Iceland’s few dense birch and willow forests – a surprisingly green oasis in the middle of the rugged northern wilderness. It is easy to see why Ásbyrgi is considered one of the most impressive natural wonders within Vatnajökull National Park. From there, we followed Route 862 along the powerful glacial river Jökulsá á Fjöllum. Our destination: Dettifoss, one of Europe’s most powerful waterfalls. Standing in front of it, words hardly do it justice. Fed by meltwater from the Vatnajökull glacier, the river plunges over a 45-meter-high cliff across a front roughly 100 meters wide. On average, around 193 cubic meters of water thunder over the edge every second. The sheer force of the water, the roar, and the spray rising from the canyon made this another unforgettable Icelandic experience. Then it was time to get back on the bikes. Helmets on, engines started, and we continued through the vast landscapes of northeastern Iceland. We followed the famous Route 1 – the Ring Road – before once again leaving the main route behind for another spectacular detour. And then came our next highlight: Stuðlagil Canyon. Dark, perfectly formed basalt columns rise dramatically along the deep canyon, while the Jökulsá á Brú River winds its way through the rock in striking shades of blue and green. A spectacular sight – and the perfect finale to another long and adventure-filled day on the road. From Húsavík to Egilsstaðir, today once again showed us exactly why Iceland is such an incredible place to explore on two wheels: empty roads, endless wilderness, and a new adventure waiting around every corner.
