Lakes and Austrian Alps - SPTLM26072

The collection of Honda's finest is awaiting our riders to take the reins. Part of the group had already arrived yesterday, to battle the jet lag and have an easy start into the tour. The rest arrived throughout the day. In the late afternoon, we officially started our tour with our welcome briefing were Makiko-san, our Japanese tour guide helped as a translator to make sure everyone knows the in and outs for our upcoming adventure. Then came the fun part the handover of the motorcycles! It was the point were anticipation is starting to kick in and the riders had a moment to familiarize themselves with their bikes. Afterwards we all rejoined for a enjoyable welcome dinner, with local specialties and Asian adaptations for those who wouldn't wanna jump into the unknown. Food was great and we had a chance to get to know each other a little better. We can't wait to finally get started tomorrow!

It's time! We started in Erding with a little sunshine after much rain during the night. The riders had a chance to get to know their bikes on gentle country roads through the surrounding countryside of Munich. There was a little traffic at first but the further we moved south the less it got. And now we could also see the magnificent Alps in the distance. Our first stop was the picturesque town of Wasserburg. We made a coffee stop, before we were heading to Prien am Chiemsee. Here, Philipp was waiting so we could do a nice group shop with everyone at the lake. There was also another Edelweiss group on the lake with riders from the United States, they were enjoying the views and a coffee there. But we had to get going our ferry was waiting to take us over to the Herreninsel, where we visited Herrenchiemsee palace. A beautiful and fascinating place, which sole purpose was to indulge a kings fascination with history and better times. As a little treat we skipped the walk back and choose instead a gentle ride on a horse cart. When we arrived at the boat, we learned that the previous ship crew had found a Japanese wallet and Mr Inoue was very happy to hear it, as he just noticed that he lost his. Happy days! From here we went around the Chiemsee and eastwards to another lake and domestic tourist destination, the Waginger See. The afternoon was still very sunny, but we could see some scary looking rain clouds hanging over the mountains. However, we did another well deserved coffee stop directly on the lake. People were swimming at the public beach and a campground was ner by with holiday makers. Our last hour took us then into the city of Salzburg and here Philipp greeted us with a cold beer in front of our hotel. What a fantastic 1st riding day! The evening we went to a local 'Gasthaus', unfortunately the rain clouds were now opening up, so we had to eat inside instead of the cosy 'Biergarten' they had. But, nevertheless, we enjoyed the local cuisine and had an enjoyable finish of today. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ いよいよ出発です！前夜の雨が止み、少し日差しが差し込む中、エルディングからスタートしました。ライダーたちはミュンヘン近郊の田園地帯を抜ける穏やかな田舎道を走り、バイクの感触を確かめることができました。最初は少し交通量がありましたが、南へ進むにつれて徐々に減っていきました。そして、遠くには雄大なアルプス山脈も見えてきました。 最初の目的地は、絵のように美しい町ヴァッサーブルク。コーヒーブレイクの後、キームゼー湖畔のプリーンへ向かいました。そこでフィリップが待っていてくれたので、湖畔でみんなで記念撮影をしました。湖畔には、アメリカから来たライダーたちを含む別のエーデルワイス・グループもいて、景色を眺めながらコーヒーを楽しんでいました。 しかし、そろそろ出発しなければなりません。フェリーが待っていて、ヘレン島へ渡るのです。そこでヘレンキームゼー宮殿を訪れました。美しく魅力的な場所で、歴史と古き良き時代への王の憧れを満たすために建てられた宮殿でした。 ちょっとしたご褒美として、歩いて戻るのはやめて、代わりに馬車に乗ってのんびりと過ごすことにしました。 船に戻ると、前の船員が日本の財布を見つけてくれたと聞きました。井上さんはちょうど自分の財布をなくしたことに気づいたところだったので、とても喜んでいました。嬉しい出来事でした！ そこからキーム湖を一周し、東へ向かい、もう一つの湖であり国内の観光地でもあるヴァーギンガー湖へ行きました。午後もまだ晴れていましたが、山の上には不気味な雨雲が垂れ込めていました。それでも、湖畔でまたコーヒーブレイクを取りました。公共のビーチでは人々が泳いでいて、近くのキャンプ場には休暇を楽しむ人々がいました。 最後の1時間でザルツブルクの街に到着し、ホテルの前でフィリップが冷たいビールで迎えてくれました。最高の乗馬初日でした！ 夕方には地元のガストハウスに行きましたが、残念ながら雨雲が開き始めたので、居心地の良いビアガーデンではなく、店内で食事をすることになりました。しかし、それでも私たちは地元の料理を楽しみ、今日の締めくくりを楽しく過ごすことができました。

Today, we stayed in Salzburg and the group could enjoy a truly customized experience! The majority of the riders started early on a ride to Eagles Nest or as it is called in German 'Kehlsteinhaus', which is now a tourist destination, boasting with spectacular views over the lowlands and surrounding mountain ranges. But originally, it was commissioned by the Nazi party to be build to host and impress foreign dignities. Adolf Hitler himself visited a few times. After the lofty visit, the group took the wonderful Rossfeld panoramic road and Philipp took them to a secret Meadow, were model aircraft Pilots launch their planes. While they were enjoying the breathtaking scenery, a paraglider saw them and tried to impress them with a few low passes before taking of into the thermals. They then enjoyed a local "Brettljause" lunch where a local shared some Honda memories. After that they split up to accommodate the different interests. Maki-San took a small group to the salt mine in Hallein, a truly unique experience to see how the white gold and source of the regions wealth was mined through out the different centuries. Philipp returned to Salzburg with the rest of the group and took a few guests to Hanger 7, a Red Bull exhibition and entertainment venue, showcasing Red Bulls F1 cars, helicopters, plains and anything else that could be called fun and dangerous. For those who rather had a sleep in and a later start Franziska offered a little city stroll through the old part of town. We started at the gardens of the Mirabell palace and then crossed the river Salzach to the medieval core of Salzburg. So, we walked along Getreide Gasse and sampled the real Mozartkugeln from Fürst Konditorei. Before, we took a seat right opposite to have a coffee and let the world go by. Here we met, Mr & Mrs MATSUZAKI, who had enjoyed the city by themselves so far. The evening we went out to a local beergarden and restaurant and this time the weather stayed tried so we could enjoy the local specialties in the comfortable evening air. 今日はザルツブルクに滞在し、皆様それぞれの興味に合わせた、本当に特別な一日を楽しむことができました！ ライダーの多くは早朝に出発し、イーグルズ・ネスト、ドイツ語では「ケールシュタインハウス」と呼ばれる場所へ向かいました。現在は観光名所となっており、眼下に広がる平地と周囲の山々を一望できる、素晴らしい景色を誇っています。しかし、もともとはナチ党によって建設が依頼されたもので、外国の要人を招き、感銘を与えることを目的としていました。アドルフ・ヒトラー自身も数回訪れています。 標高の高い場所を訪れた後、グループは素晴らしいロスフェルト・パノラマロードを走りました。そしてフィリップは皆様を、模型飛行機のパイロットたちが飛行機を飛ばす秘密の草原へ案内しました。 皆様が息をのむような景色を楽しんでいると、パラグライダーのパイロットが彼らに気付き、何度か低空飛行を披露して楽しませてくれました。そして最後には、上昇気流に乗って空高く飛び立っていきました。 その後、地元の名物料理「ブレットルヤウゼ」を昼食に楽しみ、地元のホンダファンからホンダにまつわる思い出を聞くこともできました。 昼食後は、それぞれの興味に合わせてグループを分けました。マキさんは少人数のグループをハラインの岩塩鉱山へ案内しました。そこでは、この地域の富の源となった「白い黄金」、つまり塩が、何世紀にもわたってどのように採掘されてきたのかを見ることができる、本当にユニークな体験を楽しみました。 フィリップは残りのグループとともにザルツブルクへ戻り、数名のゲストをハンガー7へ案内しました。ここはレッドブルの展示・エンターテインメント施設で、レッドブルのF1マシンやヘリコプター、飛行機など、「楽しくて危険」と呼べるものなら何でもありそうな、ユニークな場所です。 一方、朝はゆっくり起きて、少し遅めにスタートしたい方には、フランツィスカが旧市街を巡る小さな街歩きを用意しました。 まずミラベル宮殿の庭園からスタートし、ザルツァッハ川を渡って、ザルツブルクの中世から続く旧市街の中心部へ向かいました。 ゲトライデガッセを歩きながら、フュルスト菓子店の本場の「モーツァルトクーゲル」を味わいました。その後、通りの向かい側のカフェでコーヒーを飲みながら、ゆっくりと街の時間を楽しみました。 そこで私たちは、松崎ご夫妻にお会いしました。お二人はそれまで、ご自身たちだけでザルツブルクの街を楽しまれていたそうです. 夜は地元のビアガーデンとレストランに出かけましたが、今回は天候が不安定だったので、心地よい夜の空気の中で地元の名物料理を楽しむことができました。 つづく。

Again we were blessed with a sunny morning today, Mr Suzuki's anti-rain prayers were doing a treat. We left the busy streets of Salzburg behind us and made our way east past the Wolfgangsee to Bad Ischl. Here, we stopped to visit the Kaiservilla and the lovely surrounding parkland. It's easy to understand why King Franz Joseph and his beloved wife 'Sisi' loved it so much. But we couldn't delve long as our next highlight of the day was waiting - Hallstatt! The famous village nestled along the Hallstätter Lake. Even so it was early morning the village was already bustling with tourists from near and far. The lake was pristine, beautiful and absolute still, the surrounding mountains peacefully mirrored on its surface. We walked along the shore, put our noses in some souvenir shops and enjoyed a frozen treat on the way back to the bikes. All in all it was a great visit. From here we continued via the Geschütt pass towards Radstadt. On the way we could admire the famous Dachstein mountain range that towered along the road. By the time we reached our little Gasthaus for lunch everyone was ready for a break, what a busy morning we had. So we sat down on their terrace enjoyed the view and even more the local specialties from the kitchen and with this temperatures an ice cream at the was an absolute must. The afternoon brought some other delights. We started of along the Radstätter Tauernpass, a beautiful, twisty and scenic country road with a mix trough some lovely valleys and serene forests. And if you think it's hard to top this, then comes the Nockalm Road! What a little gem it is! You climb up to over 2000m on some fantastic switch backs and winding roads and to our big surprise Philipp was waiting for us with his drone to record it all. We had organised the more experienced riders in the front so we could open up the throttle a bit and enjoy a blast up the mountain while everyone else took it in their own stride. Up on the top be were rewarded with fantastic views and a rush of endorphins pumping through our system! Now it was not far to our final destination of the day. We went continuously downhill towards the Millstätter Lake with heavy storm clouds hanging over the neighboring mountains. But again we were saved by the strong anti-rain prayers and arrived dry at the hotel. We even could enjoy a cold beer with view onto an impressive rainbow forming over the lake. Afterwards we had another lively dinner together swapping the stories of today. The group truly has found each other and it is if they been friends for many years. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 今日もまた、晴天に恵まれました。鈴木さんの雨乞いの祈りが効いたようです。ザルツブルクの賑やかな街並みを後にし、ヴォルフガング湖を通り過ぎて東へ向かい、バート・イシュルへ。そこで、皇帝の別荘と美しい公園に立ち寄りました。フランツ・ヨーゼフ国王と愛妃シシィがここをこよなく愛した理由がよく分かります。 しかし、次の目的地であるハルシュタットへ向かうため、長居はできませんでした。ハルシュタット湖畔に佇むこの有名な村は、早朝にもかかわらず、すでに国内外からの観光客で賑わっていました。湖は澄み渡り、美しく、静寂に包まれ、周囲の山々が水面に静かに映し出されていました。 湖畔を散策し、お土産屋さんを覗き込み、自転車に戻る途中で冷たいデザートを楽しみました。本当に素晴らしい旅でした。 ここからゲシュット峠を越え、ラートシュタットへと向かいました。道中、道路沿いにそびえ立つ有名なダッハシュタイン山脈を眺めることができました。昼食のために小さな宿に着く頃には、皆疲れ果てていました。午前中は本当に忙しかったのです。そこで、テラス席に座って景色を楽しみ、厨房で作られた地元の特産料理を堪能しました。この気温では、アイスクリームは絶対に欠かせません。 午後には、また別の楽しみが待っていました。まずは、美しい谷や静かな森を抜ける、曲がりくねった風光明媚な田舎道、ラートシュテッター・タウエルンパスを走り始めました。そして、これ以上の景色はないだろうと思ったら、ノックアルム街道が待っていました！まさに隠れた名所です！素晴らしいヘアピンカーブと曲がりくねった道を登り、標高2000mを超える地点まで登ります。そして、驚いたことに、フィリップがドローンを持って待っていて、その景色を撮影してくれていたのです。経験豊富なライダーを先頭に配置し、少しスロットルを開けて山を駆け上がる爽快感を味わいながら、他のメンバーはそれぞれのペースで登っていきました。山頂に着くと、素晴らしい景色が広がり、体中にエンドルフィンが溢れ出すような爽快感に包まれました！ さて、今日の最終目的地まではもうすぐです。近くの山々に厚い嵐雲が立ち込める中、ミルシュテッター湖に向かってひたすら下り坂を進みました。しかし、またしても雨を降らせないという強い祈りのおかげで、ホテルには濡れることなく到着できました。湖の上に美しい虹がかかっているのを眺めながら、冷たいビールを楽しむこともできました。 その後、皆で賑やかな夕食を囲み、今日の出来事を語り合いました。このグループはまさに長年の友人同士のように、互いに深く結びついています。

We started the day high above the Millstätter See, waking up at the beautiful Hotel Alexanderhof with the lake sparkling far below us. After a great breakfast and, hopefully, enough coffee for everyone, it was time to get our engines running – because today we had a very special challenge ahead. Together with our 12 Japanese friends, we set off towards one of Austria’s ultimate motorcycle playgrounds: the legendary Großglockner High Alpine Road. Our first stop was the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe (2,369 m), where we were greeted by an impressive view of the Großglockner and the Pasterze glacier. Well… what is left of it. The shrinking glacier is a spectacular sight, but also a pretty sobering reminder that even these mighty mountains are changing. While enjoying the panorama, we also had another mystery to solve: **Why on earth is there a brass boat up here?** Fortunately, our tour guide quiz had an expert among us. Nana knew the answer – and walked away with the coveted quiz prize! From there, we continued our climb through the spectacular high-alpine landscape, winding our way higher and higher towards the Fuscher Törl (2,428 m). With every corner came another postcard-worthy view, and it was hard to keep our eyes on the road with so much scenery competing for attention. At the Fuschertörl, we stopped for lunch – and after filling our bellies, there was only one thing left to do: conquer the Edelweißspitze (2,571 m) as a team! The final climb up its narrow, cobbled road added just the right amount of spice to the adventure. Once at the top, however, all the effort was forgotten. Standing at the highest point of the Großglockner High Alpine Road, surrounded by an endless sea of mountains, was the perfect reward. Eventually, we had to leave the high mountains behind and began our descent towards Kaprun, where the Hotel Vötter was waiting for us. And this is not just any hotel. Attached to the Vötter is a fascinating automotive museum, packed with historic cars, motorcycles and memorabilia – a pretty fitting place for a bunch of motorcycle enthusiasts to spend the night! Tomorrow is already our **last riding day**. A slightly sad feeling is starting to creep in, because good things always seem to go by far too quickly. But we certainly won't let that spoil the final chapter of our HondaGo adventure! There are still some beautiful corners of the Tirol province waiting for us – and we intend to enjoy every single one of them. 今日の一日は、ミルシュテッター湖を見下ろす高台に建つ、美しいホテル・アレクサンダーホーフから始まりました。眼下にはキラキラと輝く湖が広がっています。おいしい朝食を楽しみ、みんなが十分にコーヒーを飲んだところで、いよいよエンジン始動です。 なぜなら今日は、特別なチャレンジが待っているからです。 12名の日本からの仲間たちと一緒に向かったのは、オーストリアを代表するモーターサイクル・ルートのひとつ、伝説のグロースグロックナー・ハイアルパインロードです。 最初のストップは、カイザー・フランツ・ヨーゼフス・ヘーエ（2,369 m）。ここからは、オーストリア最高峰グロースグロックナーと、パステルツェ氷河を一望する素晴らしい景色が楽しめます。 ……と言っても、「氷河が残っていれば」の話ですが。 年々小さくなっている氷河は、その姿だけを見れば壮大ですが、同時に、これほど雄大な山々でさえも変化していることを実感させられる、少し考えさせられる光景でもあります。 そして美しい景色を楽しんでいる途中、私たちはもうひとつの謎に遭遇しました。 「いったい、なぜこんな山の上に真鍮のボートがあるのでしょう？」 幸い、今回のツアーにはこの謎を解く人物がいました。ツアーガイド・クイズの達人、Nanaです！ 見事に正解を導き出し、Nanaは栄えあるクイズの賞品をゲットしました！ そこからさらに標高を上げ、壮大なハイアルパインの景色の中を走りながら、フューシャー・テール（2,428 m）へと向かいます。 ひとつひとつのコーナーを曲がるたびに、新しい絶景が目の前に現れます。あまりにも素晴らしい景色が続くので、道路に集中するのが難しいほどです。 フューシャー・テールではランチタイム。 お腹をしっかり満たしたあとは、もうひとつやるべきことが残っています。 みんなでエーデルワイスシュピッツェ（2,571 m）を制覇です！ 狭く、石畳の路面が続く最後の上り坂は、今回のライディングにちょうどいいスパイスを加えてくれました。 しかし、頂上に到着した瞬間、そんな苦労はすべて忘れてしまいます。 グロースグロックナー・ハイアルパインロードの最高地点に立ち、果てしなく続く山々に囲まれる――。これ以上ないご褒美です。 やがて私たちは高い山々に別れを告げ、カプルーンへ向かって下っていきます。今夜の宿泊先はホテル・フェッターです。 そして、ここはただのホテルではありません。 ホテルには、歴史ある自動車やバイク、さまざまなモータリング関連の展示品が並ぶ、とても興味深い自動車博物館が併設されています。 バイク好きの私たちが一夜を過ごすには、まさにぴったりの場所です！ そして、明日は早くも最後のライディングデー。 楽しい時間は本当にあっという間に過ぎてしまうもので、少し寂しい気持ちが込み上げてきます。 でも、HondaGoツアーの最後の一日を、そんな気持ちで終わらせるわけにはいきません！ 明日はまだ、チロル州の美しい道と景色が私たちを待っています。 最後の一日も、思いっきり楽しみましょう！

Sadly the last riding day has arrived. But the morning still gave us some fantastic roads to ride. We left Kaprun and visited the Krimml waterfalls, the highest falls in Austria and one of the highest in the EU. We then went onto another panoramic road over the Gerlos Pass with fantastic views and even better corners. From here we rode along the Zillertal which unfortunately at the end of the holiday period was quiet busy but once we turned onto the country road towards Achensee we could leave the traffic behind. At the lake we found a lovely Biergarten to indulge in lunch and soak up the local atmosphere. With a full belly we made our way to the Sylvensteinsee, where the road crosses directly over the dam wall and went trough the back country to Aying, where our last coffee stop was planed. Unfortunately, 3 riders got lost on the last view turns. However, on the positive side, they were quiet excited to have the pleasure to experience a short stretch of the German Autobahn. With a combined effort we got the group back together and continued to our final destination Erding – back to where we started! It has been a wonderful week with great weather and even better experiences. It was fantastic to have so many female riders on tour and to see how the group found each other as a whole. There was a lot of support, laughter and friendship formed. And Philipp and I have learned a lot about Japan, the little differences and how our shared love for motorcycles is bringing us all together. Thank you for the fabulous time together! _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 残念ながら、ツーリング最終日がやってきました。しかし、午前中は素晴らしい道を走ることができました。カプルンを出発し、オーストリアで最も高く、EUでも有数の高さを誇るクリムル滝を訪れました。 その後、ゲロス峠を越える絶景の道を走り、素晴らしい景色とさらに魅力的なコーナーを堪能しました。そこからツィラータール渓谷沿いを走りましたが、休暇シーズンの終わりで残念ながらかなり混雑していました。しかし、アッヘン湖方面へ向かう田舎道に入ると、交通量を減らすことができました。湖畔では素敵なビアガーデンを見つけ、ランチを楽しみながら地元の雰囲気を満喫しました。 お腹いっぱいになった私たちは、シルヴェンシュタイン湖へと向かいました。ダムの堤防を越える道から田園地帯を抜け、最後のコーヒーブレイクの予定地であるアイイングへと進みました。 残念ながら、最後の絶景コーナーで3人のライダーが道に迷ってしまいました。しかし、ドイツのアウトバーンを少しだけ体験できたことに、彼らは密かに興奮していました。 皆の協力のおかげで、グループは再び集結し、最終目的地であるエルディング、つまり出発地点へと戻ってきました！ 素晴らしい天候に恵まれ、最高の経験に満ちた素晴らしい一週間でした。ツアーに多くの女性ライダーが参加してくれたこと、そしてグループ全体が一体となって絆を深めていく様子を見ることができて、本当に感動しました。たくさんのサポート、笑い、そして友情が芽生えました。フィリップと私は、日本について、そして日本ならではの小さな違いについて、そしてバイクへの共通の愛が私たちを結びつけていることについて、多くのことを学びました。 素晴らしい時間をありがとうございました！
