Halcones in the Alps! SPTCN26016

Today, the group gathered in the charming alpine town of Seefeld in Tirol. Surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, it's the perfect starting point for our adventure! Everyone has arrived, the bikes are prepped and ready, and following our welcome briefing, we shared our first dinner together to kick off the journey. Now, we are fully ready to hit the road. Let the ride begin!
The day we were all waiting for has finally arrived! We left Seefeld under a wonderful blue sky and descended towards the long Inn Valley before tackling the beautiful alpine road that took us to Kühtai, where we stopped for our first coffee break. Back in the saddle, we enjoyed countless curves and enchanting little villages until we reached the Gacher Blick viewpoint, where we admired the Inn River and its valley from above. But today's highlight was, without a doubt, the twisty, beautiful road that took us all the way up to the Kaunertal Glacier at 2,750 meters of altitude! We have already almost reached the highest elevation of this entire tour. Global warming is affecting this glacier as well, so there wasn't much ice left to see, but the scenery was spectacular nonetheless, and we enjoyed a fantastic lunch at high altitude. Finally, it was time to ride back down into the valley and ascend once more to Serfaus, a charming little village where we are spending the night. See you tomorrow!
The day started under a wonderfully clear blue sky, very promising! From Serfaus, we rode back down into the valley and followed the main road into Switzerland for a few kilometers. We then crossed back into Austria before finally reaching the Reschen Pass, where we entered Italy. Shortly after, we arrived at Lake Reschen for a coffee break and to admire the famous bell tower rising from the water—the only remaining trace of the village flooded following the construction of a dam. Our next stop was the legendary Stelvio Pass, the king of mountain passes, where we got to sample the equally famous "Bruno's sandwich"! After taking plenty of photos, we set off for another legendary route: the Gavia Pass. What a narrow, winding road, especially on the descent toward Ponte di Legno! Was that enough for one day? Not at all! The Tonale Pass was waiting for us shortly after. Finally, we rode through the Val di Sole and Val di Non valleys, surrounded by endless apple orchards, before reaching our destination atop Mount Penegal. Overlooking Bolzano from up here, it is definitely not a bad view to end the day! ----------
Today we started a bit later due to the weather and originally planned a shorter loop. Our first stop was the beautiful Karersee (Lake Carezza), and since the sky had cleared up, we decided to go for the full loop after all! We reached Canazei, climbed the wonderful Fedaia Pass, and stopped for lunch with a view right at the foot of the Marmolada. Back on our bikes, we headed toward Arabba before facing the rollercoaster twisties of the Pordoi Pass, one of the highest in the Dolomites. Once we reached the top, the rain started pouring down again and accompanied us all the way back to Bolzano, before we made our final climb back to our hotel on Mount Penegal. It was a long day, but a truly great one!
Leaving Mount Penegal behind, we set off toward our next destination: Levico Terme! The weather was rainy and certainly not the best, but that didn't stop us from enjoying the ride to the fullest. We kicked off the day by tackling the sweeping curves of the Palade Pass (Gampenpass) before riding down into the Val di Non and passing through the village of Cagnò. From there, we headed south toward the stunning Lake Molveno, but the real riding treat of the day was yet to come: the legendary Monte Bondone! We carved our way up its famous hairpins before descending into Trento. After a short ride through the valley, we finally arrived at our hotel in Levico Terme, soaked but thrilled after another fantastic day in the saddle.
Today was supposed to be a "rest day," but we made the absolute most of it! We set off from Levico down to Riva del Garda for a quick morning coffee by the water. Lake Garda is Italy's largest lake and one of its most famous tourist destinations worldwide, making it a stunning backdrop for our break! From there, we rode along the lake toward Limone before taking on the breathtaking Strada della Forra—one of the most scenic canyon roads in the world. The thrills didn't stop there: another long, incredible stretch of endless twisties led us up over Passo San Rocco and down to Lake Idro, where we enjoyed a great lunch right on the lakefront. After making our way back to Levico, we wrapped up our "relaxing" day with a well-deserved night out for dinner. Pizza, of course!
Leaving Levico behind, we embarked on one of the most intense and sensational mountain riding days of the entire tour! We immediately started climbing the wild and winding Passo Manghen, followed by the legendary sweeping turns of Passo Rolle and the technical twists of Passo Cereda. The road kept carving through the heart of the Dolomites until we reached Passo Duran, where we paused for a well-deserved lunch surrounded by breathtaking peaks. Re-energized, we conquered Passo Staulanza before facing one of the absolute royalty of Alpine passes: the magnificent Passo di Giau, offering 360-degree panoramic views. After crossing Passo Tre Croci, we made our final stop at the world-famous Lake Misurina, capturing our last group photos against its iconic backdrop. From there, we descended through the valley into Brunico (Bruneck) to rest after a truly epic day of pass-hunting!
Today was the final chapter of this incredible journey. After a good breakfast in Bruneck, we set off under brilliant blue skies toward Mieming—a perfect sunny day to cap off a trip we will remember for the rest of our lives! Our first highlight was the mighty Jaufenpass (Passo di Monte Giovo), where we stopped for coffee and soaked in the spectacular alpine views. Before lunch, we tackled another absolute must-do route: the iconic Timmelsjoch (Passo del Rombo), crossing the high-altitude border from Italy back into Austria. After a delightful lunch, we had the chance to visit the impressive Top Mountain Motorcycle Museum at the top of the pass. From there, we descended through the Ötztal valley toward Mieming for the final handover of our bikes. Back at the garage, our CEO, Rainer, came to welcome us, offer his congratulations, and meet Horacio—one of Edelweiss Bike Travel's very first clients, who rode on a tour with us way back in 1982! What a magnificent tour! A huge thank you to the Halcones—it was a true honor to guide you on this unforgettable 90th-anniversary ride!
