From Hungary to Transylvenia

The first night we had a special dinner...
To reach the good roads, we had to take the highway for a while, but then the fun part was coming, really twisty mountain roads in good condition. We had a lot of fun for for some hours, great lunch and a funny bridge. The last part to Romania was highway again, but no problem. We ended up in Oradea in a nice hotel with heated outdoor pool. A good tour start!
Today we had another long riding day, a great road through the Apuseni mountains with lots of curves and stunning scenery. We ended up in Sighisoara a beautiful medieval town.
After two long riding days, we had a short one. We had time for visiting two major attractions in Romania. The first one was one of the famous fortified churches in Viscri and later the legendary Bran castle, better known as Draculas Castle. But Dracula was not at home....
It was the day we waited for. We did the world famous Transfagarasan, am epic road over the Carpathian mountains, known from an episode of Top Gear. What a ride! Countless twisties in great scenery and lunch in a tree house. We had a blast!
We thought you can't beat yesterdays ride, but we were wrong. Tje Transalpina road is even better! New pavement and stunning scenery. It was a long day on the bike, but we enjoyed it very much.
Compared to yesterday we had a relaxed riding day, no challenges. We crossed the border to Hungary, went over the Danube river by ferry and visited the famous wine village of Villany. In the afternoon we had time to stroll around Pecs, the city of art, with a beautiful pedestrian zone.
Unfortunately our last riding day of the tour. Getting out of Pecs on a nice and twisty road was a good warm up. The highlight of today was the Balaton Lake, the biggest lake in Central Europe. We crossed it by ferry and had a scenic lunch at the shore. The last stretch to Budapest we took the highway. Thanks to a fantastic group, see you again soon.
