THE ADVENTURE OF THE GRAND ALPS (CGA 1102) Part 1

Monday, June 6, 2011 | Markus Hellrigl | Europe

It all started out with a welcome briefing hold by the tour guides. Their real reason was to tease us with descriptions, pictures and stories about what to come. We took off on a sunny morning heading towards the Alps, our playground for the next thirteen days to come. Lush country side, green forests and blue shimmering lakes companied us on the way to the first “real” pass, Kühtai.

Day two lead us to Bieler Höhe, another outstanding pass surrounded by breathtaking scenery. After a short stop in Feldkirch, a medivial town in the very West of Austria and lunch break in Lichtenstein we moved on to Klausenpass, a mountain road used for car races in the 1930s. In Altdorf we had a quick look at the folk who shot an apple of his son's head (Wilhelm Tell was his name) before we headed for Andermatt.

Today started with liquid sunshine (it was raining) but the fearless eleven started their pass collecting for the day. Rain on Gotthard Pass, snowfall on Nufenen, almost dry on Grimsel and bright sunshine on Susten. As a desert we added Oberalp Pass , just to get another apelstrudel.

The old Gotthard road - what an experience

MARCUS - What a great tour - you are a great tour leader: charming, disarming, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Thanks for the memories.

Oh my mistake, i thought your stride was due to many hours of riding........maybe after your tour you would show me your 1200cc's???

The big guys stance is due to the 1200cc he has between his legs
Ok, yes it's Ducati multistrada. But not all the time.

Ducati multistrada + The Alps = Edelweiss Heaven
Today we rode up high with the Gods. Some may think we're angels
but if you ask me we were the Devils Advocate. Lead by Ed 'He the Man'
followed by Rocket Rudi, Rob the Rock, Magical Mike and as for me call me anything
you like, just don't call me late for dinner or bed;-p
