CUA1804 The Ultimate Alps in the autumn

Sunday, September 30, 2018 | Angela / Mike Woltering | Europe

Your tour guides Mike and Angela say thank you for riding with us through these beautiful Alps. Take care and stay safe until we meet again riding a motorcycle somewhere down the road

Riding day 7 - A spectacular excursion into the Dolomite mountains

No matter how often we ride in the Dolomites - they are same impressive each time again. Especially today with this crisp morning air and the sun slowly warming up the day
Lee - completely happy about this great ride today
Passo Staulanza and its massive rock pops up all of a sudden around the corner
A breather at the Karerpass
All these rock formations of the Dolomites have their names. This one is called the rose garden.
Hey Alex, what happened? You're tired?

Riding day 6 - Val di Sol to Collalbo

The low rising autumn sun in the Val di Sol
Today was picnic day and Steve was first in line

Riding day 5 - Lugano to Val di Sol

Another ferry ride - this time across Lago di Como
The typical Italian village of Varenna awaits us on the other side
A very fuel efficient no-noise way of riding your ATV
Lee, taking the turn into the parking on Passo di Zambla
She thought it was a different "high way" parking experience, though, on Passo Vivione
And Günther had yet another "high way" experience
The last pass of the day was Passo Tonale, a perfectly relaxing finish of a day full of Italian pass road
Steven and Minoo on their 1600 GT

Riding day 4 - Zermatt to Lugano

Leaving this beautiful view of the Matterhorn today.
Guess this is where you put your ticket for the parking if you´re on a motorcycle.
Trying to find our way back to the motorcycles after lunch ...
...through those gorgeous small streets of Cannobio.
Waiting for the ferry to go to the other side of Lago Maggiore.
Here they come ....
... seems like everyone is on board.
Let the little boat trip begin and enjoy the view.

Riding day 3 - Brunnen to Zermatt

Even though the morning didn't look very promising at all concerning the weather, we lucked out today and found the sun on the other side of Sustenpass
The view of Furkapass and the shrinking Rhone Glacier
Original Swiss houses in Zermatt

Riding day 2 - Pontresina to Brunnen

Even tho everybody did a great job on Stelvio the day before, not everyone had enough of those tight switchbacks. So on this day there was just one solution for that, we had to split up. While two riders went for the longer route including Splügen Pass, the rest went for the optional but not less spectacular route.

On top of Albula Pass with Scott while the others we enjoying a cup of coffee right behind us.
The Hinterrhein Valley in which one part of the river Rhine rises.
This lunch was nothing else than excellent starting with a salad....
... and some venison as main course
Minoo and Steven on top of the Oberalp Pass.
There´s even a little lake here as well if you need to cool down after riding all the way up.
There he is, the Swiss national hero "Wilhelm Tell" with his son "Walter".
What an amazing view out of our hotel over the Lake Lucerne or as we call it in german "Vierwaldstättersee".

Riding day 1 - Mieming to Pontresina

The weather in the Alps has sent clear signs that the cooler time of the year will be coming soon. But the autumn still offers a perfect riding here in the Swiss mountains.

A group of 6 riders from the USA, Canada and South Korea ventured out today for another Ultimate Alps tour.

It has been a couple months but seems like yesterday. What a wonderful trip. Anyone looking for a trip of a lifetime need look no further, perfect curved roads and just the right amount of sightseeing. I should bring a GoPro next time, we passed such picturesque scenery. Our group was the best, I enjoyed everyone's company. I can't wait until I make it back for another trip someday.
