Day 1, Arrival in Erding

Today, before tour starts, Stacey and Peter took the chance of a guided walk through the centre of Munich. The weather was simply perfecy and, since it was sunday, there were not many people on the street... very enjoyable!

Back to the hotel, we met the rest of the group for the welcome briefing of this wonderful tour!

Arrived in Munich, very empty on a sunday morning!
Finally we found a cafe!

One of the world's most famous pubs, the Hofbrauhaus
Typical lunch!
Back to the hotel, time for the welcome briefing!
See you tomorrow for the first ride!

Day 2, Erding - Lienz

Time to ride finally! Direction southward, to the Alps! But Bavaria, despite being a little flat, has nice sights to offer, so we stopped for a nice photo stop in Wasserburg and for a coffee break in Priem am Chiemsee before finally reaching the Alps and entering Austria, The highlight of today was definitely the Grossglocner High Alpine Road, the most famous austrian alpine road. Wonderfully designed and paved... and wonderful mountains all around!

First picture stop in Wasserburg
Coffee break
Lake Chiem

Day 3, Lienz - Klobenstein

Today we rode through one of the most spectacular areas of the whole Alps, the Dolomites, considered maybe the most beautiful mountains in the world! And, thanks to the beautiful weather, we could also enjoy a delicious picnic on the top of the Valparola pass! Words (ant even pictures!) can't describe the beauty of today's ride!

Entering Italy!
First picture stop at the Misurina lake, surrounded by the Dolomites
Stacey and Peter, this is their Honeymoon!!! Congratulations!
On the Falzarego pass, since the weather was so good, we could not miss a cable car ride to the top of the Lagazuoi peak and enjoy the magnificent view from up there!
While enoying the ride, somebody was working hard to prepare a delicious picnic. Thank you Lukas!!!
Maybe my bike was parked in the wrong spot!

Climbing the Pordoi pass

Day 4, Klobenstein Rest Day

Today the plan was a short (but not too short!) ride in the mornining, some time to relax and then, since we officially are in Italy, a pizza in downtown Bolzano for the evening. Another very good day!

To reach downtown Bolzano we had to use the little Renon train and a cable car!
The view from the cable car was simply beautiful

Buon appetito!

Day 5, Klobenstein - Pontresina

One of the biggest highlights of the tour was on our "menu" for today, the king of the alpine mountain passes, the Stelvio! Fourtyeight tight hairpins on the way up, where we tasted Bruno's famous sandwiches, and then another little coffee break in Livigno before finally entering Switzerland. Enjoy the pictures!

Soo many apples around us on the way to the Stelvio pass... in a few weeks they will be harvested!
Forst coffee break near Merano
Another break in Glurns, we need to stay fit to ride the Stelvio!
Some action on the Stelvio pass
Cars (nice ones!) blocking our way...
Finally at Bruno's! He is preparing our sandwiches!
Last picture stop at the Morteratsch glacier... we are already in Switzerland!

Day 6, Pontresina - Warth

Soon after leaving Pontresina, under a blue sky we started climbing the beautiful and perfectly paved Albula pass! A quick coffee and photo stop and we started descending direction Chur, a quite big town where we lost some times because of road works! Anyway we reached the little Heidy Dorf for lunch and then continued into Liechtenstein, the fifth country we entered during this tour! Time for a picture and soon we crossed the border to Austria, where we rode on the Furkajoch pass before finally reaching Warth and our beautiful mountain hotel!

On the Albula Pass
Coffee break
At the Heidi Village, Jimmy and Peter did not get enough riding during the morning!
The Heidi house... this village inspired the famous novel and cartoon about Heidi, the little girl living in the swiss mountains!

Passing through Liechtenstein, a quick photo stop under the castle of Vaduz,
Geord in Vaduz
Some more action on the Furkajoch
Last coffee break on the Furkajoch
We reached the hotel in time for relaxing in its beautiful spa. Here Gretchen and John!

Day 7, Warth - Erding

Last day of this wonderful tour! After a quick Covid test for the ones flying out from Germany, we were ready to leave the hotel and headed straight to Neuschwanstein, where we went to see the world famous fairytale castle and spent some time for souvenirs and a quick lunch. Our next stop was at the beautiful Starnberger lake, where we had our last coffee break, and then we quickly reached Erding.

Thank you all, very very much, for a wonderful week spent together! It was great! See you hopefully soon on another Edelweiss tour!
