Riding day 1: a taste of istria Pula and Rovinj

Our base camp in Opatija greeted us yesterday a little damp. The great thing about this tour is that we don't have to change hotels. So we can choose the best routes to escape the rain. No sooner said than done. So today we set our sights on the south of the Istrian peninsula. And hey, there's a lot to see. The roads are still a little wet in the morning. But the weather gets better and better the further south we go. Arrived in Pula we marvel at the 2000 year old Roman amphitheater. And enjoy a delicious capuccino. Then we continue to Rovinj, one of the most beautiful places in Croatia. After a short tour of the town and a delicious lunch, we will return to the hotel via narrow roads. What a day

Riding day 2: Porec and the Limski channel

Our second day of driving takes us once again to Istria. We thus escape the rain again. After a short shower in the morning, we drive over wonderfully winding roads to the westernmost point of our tour, "Porec". One of the tourist strongholds of the peninsula. But since the vacation season in Europe is actually already over, we have the place almost to ourselves. The weather is beautiful as we take place after a short city walk for lunch directly on the walls of the basilica.
After some ice cream for dessert, we continue to the Limski Canal. This is actually not a canal but rather a fjord but these are details. Another great day.

Riding day 3: a taste of Slovenia and the Postojna cave

Today we are going to Slovenia. And somehow it's amazing how so much changes within a few kilometers. The architecture, the vegetation, the traffic so many small details that are similar but somehow different....welcome to Europe. We drive through almost deserted villages and over beautifully winding roads towards our highlight of the day. The impressive stalactite cave in Postojna. For 200 years, this place is a tourist magnet and rightly so. We enter the cave with an ATTENTION train. After many minutes of travel, through a surreal labyrinth of dripstone formations hundreds of thousands of years old, we leave the train and walk about 1.5km through one of the most impressive cave systems of its kind in the world. Unbelievably beautiful. Afterwards we eat some streetfood downtown, before we head home. Shortly before the border we take a coffee break. The sun is still shining....... (from here on it is an insider).... we just did it

Riding day 4: Islans Cres and Krk

Today we started the day more or less in standby. The weather forecast was not good to really bad. But we do not let bad forecasts spoil our vacation. In the morning, the weather radar gives conclusive information. The weather on the islands is good and stable. So nothing like up on the scooters and go. After all, we have a ferry to catch. No sooner said than done, we reach the ferry to Cres on time and another unforgettable day takes its course. After we have reached Cres it goes once again in a completely different landscape over wonderfully empty and winding roads. We enjoy a coffee in the harbor of Cres City. before we take the next ferry to Krk, the largest island of Croatia. There we arrive in the best weather and enjoy our lunch. Of course something with seafood
After a short walk through the old town and the best ice cream in the world. We try to get really good olive oil. Not the oil you get in every tourist store but the good stuff. After two unsuccessful attempts at a cooperative and a local farmer. We are finally found on the roadside at the stall of a local farmer. Another great day draws to a close

Riding day 5: a taste of italy...Triest

Our last day is dawning. Normally we should have visited Risnjak National Park today, but unfortunately the weather puts a spoke in our wheel. Briefly thought.... we have here Vespas and desire to ride...... Hmmmm Italy would be cool. So up on the scooters and go to Trieste. An impressive city that we with our short visit of course do not do justice. But at least it is enough for some shopping, good food and this famous Italian lifestyle. The ride home is a bit damp but hey we have already taken bigger hurdles on this tour. Thanks guys for this unforgettable tour.

Unser letzter Tag bricht an.
