Croatia by scooter

Our hogs are ready, and so are we. With the adriatic sea in the background and the sun in the sky we're in for a treat!

First riding day: to the caves!

An ancient watermill, that still operates
The inside of the mill
After a nice ride into Slovenia, we arrived at the highlight of the day: the caves of Postojna! The world's second largest stalactites caves. One has to be there to get a good sense of the enormes scale of these 24km caves. Breathtaking!
The caves are 1 million years old, which makes one feel quite young, and impressed
Enjoying a well deserved capuchino, double espresso and a lovely view from cafe Melody at a valley

The Limski Chanel, a relaxed riding day

After a beautiful ride along the coast, we arrived at the Limsky channel
In Poreč we saw what you can do with an old motorcycle, turn it into a wine rack
And off course we visited the Eufrazijeva basilica
From the bell tower we had a great view over the town
The castle off Pazin
Well located, according to our real estate agent, next to a gorge
And to top the day off we had a cold local beer

Back to the Roman time

On our way to Pula we stopped to stretch the legs and enjoy this beautiful view on the sea
And there it is! The Roman amphitheatre. 2000 years old and still in use for concerts.
Back in the days it could hold 26000 people
Colleen even met one of the gladiators
Lunch we had at the waterfront of the lovely town of Rovinj
On the way back there it was again: another great view on the sea: what a beautiful country Croatia is!

Into the mountains!

The main highlight of the day is Risnjak national park. This park holds beers, lynx and deer. And lovely lakes!
Great coffee! For a ridiculous low price
At the national park we took a short walk into the woods
This snake was hunting for tadpoles
The deer that we saw crossing the road is not on the picture, but man what a beautiful nature!
Overlooking the back country of Croatia

Last riding day: Island hopping. Cres and Krk

The first ferry, to the island off Cres
And the town off Cres. Very relaxed atmosphere
Until these guys showed up...
Blowing on a dead goat. The sound that was produced was similar...
The were out off vowels
The second island was Krk, known for its sheep and olives
perhaps not very good visible but we were lucky to see the endangered eurasian Griffin!
At the town of Krk we had a good lunch at the little harbour
