Covering another blank spot on our travel map by touring Saudi Arabia and Jordan
Up to now, Saudi Arabia has not exactly been an attractive country for motorcyclists to travel to. These days, however, Saudi Arabia has opened up and surprises us with its unexpectedly fascinating sights and its natural beauty.
We seize this opportunity with both hands, and reveal for you Saudi Arabia’s best sights and the most attractive roads. Our tour through the desert of Saudi Arabia starts in the city of Jeddah on the Red Sea. Contrary to the conception of a desert country, our ride through the Valleys of Al-Baha will show us a surprisingly green mountainous area. Further up north, we reach the city of Al-Ula. Unlike the pictures we might have in our minds, this place amidst the desert is the quite unexpected proof that the combination of nature, desert, art, history, and architecture perfectly well exists in unison. Akaba will be our first destination once we crossed the border into Jordan. Moving from Akaba to Wadi-Rum, Jordan‘s largest desert area, we immerse ourselves to the tales of Thousand and One Nights. Like in Al-Ula, we follow the footsteps of the Nabataeans at the 2000 year old city of Petra, admiring their impressive rock monuments.
Riding along the King’s Highway, we finally reach the Dead Sea. At 423 meters below sea level, the Dead Sea holds the record of being the lake located at the world‘s lowest level. Our fascinating journey through the exotic desert countries of Saudi-Arabia and Jordan ends in the city of Madaba south of Jordan’s capital Amman.
