Unjustifiably, Portugal is often overshadowed by Spain, but the small country on the Atlantic has a few advantages over its much larger neighbor. Not only does it have bigger waves (off Nazaré), longer bridges (Vasco da Gama Bridge) and Europe's most visited pilgrimage destination (Fátima), but it also boasts a capital city by the sea and the much more mournful

Northern Portugal is remarkably mountainous, and here you will find the best motorcycle routes, which are in no way inferior to those in Spain. The country is green, crisscrossed by rivers like the famous Duoro and dotted with castles, pretty villages, and nature reserves.
