Along, across and around the world’s most famous fjords: This is motorcycling in Norway!

Amazing scenery and little traffic on beautiful roads make this motorcycle tour so special. Our home base is Ålesund, a charming little town built on a rocky peninsula. From here we start our motorcycle tour with a visit to the bird island of Runde, which is home to more than half a million birds. The next day is characterized by the beauty of Geirangerfjord and the road with the same name, which is just as spectacular as the fjord itself! The following day we’ll climb up the troll‘s ladder, Norway’s most famous road and one of Europe’s most extreme mountain passes.

Another day, another road: The Atlantic Road is waiting. Eight storm-lashed bridges connect a series of islands, a sight and a ride to behold. Last but not least the “Fjord-Loop” takes us to the wind-torn islands near Kristiansund, with no fewer than ten fjords to navigate around or across. At the end of this week there is no dark night, but a bright farewell evening, as the sun never sets on Norway’s horizon.

Touring Center Norway

Every now and then we, as human beings, do something rather memorable. Many times it involves a vacation trip of a very special nature. For my wife, Claudia, and I, our Edelweiss Touring Center Norway motorcycle trip during July, 2015 was such an event. We’ve done a lot of motorcycling over the past 45 years, including a full-circle U.S.A. ride, but this was our first organized ride with a motorcycle touring company ... and it was well worth every cent spent! It's all about meeting new people and seeing new places, and Edelweiss does a great job of providing the opportunity in the best way possible ... on two wheels! It’s really not fair that any one country should be blessed with so many kilometers of stunningly beautiful riding roads and scenery, and that so much of it can be enjoyed so easily utilizing Edelweiss’ Touring Center concept, but such is the case in Norway. Our hotel in Alesund was first rate, and in the capable hands of our Italian guide, Manuel, we were stress free to the point where all we had to do was focus on riding and enjoying the whole experience ... no worries, mate! We’ll take that kind of responsibility any day! We’d like to see Edelweiss expands its Touring Center concept beyond Norway and the Dolomites, and we hope that Manuel is still leading tours when he’s in his 60’s. Speaking of the Touring Center Dolomites ... hmmm ... 2016 is upon us!
