254 kilometers long, up to 60 kilometers wide and almost 2500 meters high - this is Crete, Greece's largest and perhaps also the most varied island. Almost everywhere it is mountainous, there are rugged rocky coasts and wonderful, golden-yellow sandy beaches and the climate zones range from humid alpine to desert. It offers 300 days of sunshine a year, a history spanning several thousand years and a network of fantastic roads on which we will be traveling for a good week.
The meeting point is Heraklion, the main and largest city of Crete, every second islander lives here. From here we set out to circumnavigate the island, clockwise, collecting the most important sights, but above all enjoying the winding roads, the wonderful panoramas and the fresh, varied Cretan cuisine in which Olive oil is used a lot, because Crete is very famous for it, and there is almost always ouzo, raki or Cretan wine with it. We drive to the east of the island, then along the south coast all the way to the west, where we stay in Chania for two more nights before we head back along the north coast to Heraklion.
All the enchanting cities and pretty villages, the fantastic motorcycle routes, the beautiful landscape, the cozy taverns and cafes - Crete is a dream. And this brand new “Crete Extreme” tour too!
