The Tour Guide Team

Tourguides Edelweiss Bike Travel

All Edelweiss team members share their enthusiasm for motorcycling and travelling, their love for details and the common riding and working experience.

Tours I will be leading: World tour; more to come ...

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because I enjoy riding as well as discovering. People feel that and love to be part of it.

Favorite destination: The world.

What I like: Discover the new and unknown, but also re-experience the allegedly known. Friends.

What I dislike: Stagnation from every point of view.

Hobbies: Travelling by motorcycle, of course! Good food. Snowboarding.

My favorite bike: BMW R 1200 GS – but also Ducati (Scrambler, Multistrada) and Honda (AfricaTwin) are interesting...

Marc was born in 1969 in the beautiful area of Baden, Germany.. His job in the IT led him to Frankfurt am Main. Here, it began with shorter trips after work or weekends to the Taunus, Odenwald, Spessart, Schwarzwald (black forest) and Vogesen (France). The radius enlarged and with friends, he rode to Italy, Croata, Austria, Switzerland – almost all of Europe. One day, this wasn't enough anymore and on a trip through Namibia, Marc learned a bit more about „the world out there“. But that was just the beginning... At some time, it was not possible different: Marc quit everything in Germany and shipped his 1200 GS to Chile, to travel Southamerica for one year. Since then, motorcycle journeys are his life and it was more than fitting, that Edelweiss hired him. According to his motto: „Live to ride and ride to live".

Axel Allgaier Tours I will be leading: Best of Europe, Corsica-Sardegna, Breweries & Castles and Adriatic Rollercoaster tours

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because I enjoy every moment being on tour with a great bunch of people!

Favorite destination: The Alps and Australia

What I like: Winding roads with little traffic!

What I dislike: Straight roads with heavy traffic!

Hobbies: Motorcycling and soaring

My favorite bike: My 1986 Yamaha SRX-6 - simple, small and beautiful!

Axel was born in Southern Germany in 1965. He studied geography in Aachen (a beautiful town at the fringe of a motorcyclists paradise: the Eifel and Ardennes region) and ended up in Darmstadt where he currently lives with his family and enjoys the fact that the Odenwald Forest with its winding roads just begins outside the city limits. A five-year stopover in Melbourne, Australia, showed him that it is possibe to have fun riding a bike on the left side of the road and upside down. Axel has been exploring the world on the back of a motorbike since 1988 and since 2012 he is leading Edelweiss customers around the world as he found out that this is the perfect way to mix business with pleasure.

Marko Bauer Tours I will be leading: Australia, Italy, Corsica-Sardegna, Europe, Africa and North America

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: I never found an answer to that question (big smile!)!

Favorite destination: Italy

What I like: Enjoy life (every single day of it!)!

What I dislike: Bad weather

Hobbies: Travelling, sport (running, bicycling, skiing), motorcycling

My favorite bike: Triumph Speed Triple, Ducati Multistrada, HD Fat Boy - I just can't decide!

Marko was born in Hannover, northern Germany, in 1964, but being a motorcycling and skiing aficionado he had to move closer to the mountains very soon. South-western Bavaria has been the home of his choice for more than 30 years now. Marko joined Edelweiss in 2003 as a dedicated Harley-Davidson tour guide, but his interests diversified considerably since then. Life as a tour guide is never boring for him since it combines motorcycling, traveling and dealing with very interesting people.

Pierre Baumgärtner Tours I will be leading: As many as posible

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because each tour is guided with enthusiasm and passion. The pleasure of sharing the experience and even more to enjoy the adventure, to make an unforgettable experience will be my top priority. This includes to guide through Culture, local habits and landscape as well alongside the touristic mainstream. I am customer oriented, very well organised, a positive thinking person, and ready for “almost” any fun.

Favorite destination: Spain, North and South America, Africa, and as well the rest of our beautiful planet.

What I like: Optimists, interessting people and chats, good wine, delicious food , warm and cosy feet and Willie Nelsons “ On the road again “…

What I dislike: Pessimists, Slowpokes, Envy, bad weather, bad food, and cold wet feet.

Hobbies: Tennis, Padel, Bicycle now and then using the guitar.

My favorite bike: Die GS 1200 Adventure of course ¡!

Pierre was born the last day of 1959 in Bruxsellas Belgium, grown up nearby Stuttgart in Germany and lives now since 2001 in Barcelona / Spain. After 28 years working with a U.S. based Company in various functions and various Countries ( Germany, Spain, U.S. and India), he decided to change the chip and follow 100% his passion for motocycling and traveling. Finally it got together what belonged together.

Laurens Corjin Tours I will be leading: Europe and quite some in the UK

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: I'm stress-resistant and a problem solver!

Favorite destination: Somewhere you can feel alone, far away from busy cities with lots of tourists.

What I like: Unexplored trails, nature's majesty and post-Soviet ruins.

What I dislike: Waste, vanity & triviality and mindless entertainment.

Hobbies: Riding motorcycles, exploring the world, photography.

My favorite bike: Light, well equipped and suited for all terrain. Like my own KTM 690 Adventure.

Originally from Belgium, Laurens lived abroad in the UK and Sweden, doing complicated technical things behind a computer. He realised he didn't want to do this for ever and has since been on adventures like helping to build a boat in Norway, sailing the Swedish coast, riding his motorcycle from East to Western Europe and living and working in Australia. He came back from Australia to continue the adventure as a tourguide with Edelweiss!

Angela de Haan Tours I will be leading: Morocco, Turkey, Spain, Portugal, France, the Alps, and all other destination Edelweiss is going to send me to!

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: My good mood brightens up the rainiest days!

Favorite destination: I am happy if I am on the road/on the bike - no matter where the tour takes place. There are many wonderful places I have already seen and sure enough there will be more to come which makes it hard to specify. So far I liked best Turkey and the Arab countries (especially the Middle East)!

What I like: To enjoy life at any moment, sharing a good time with honest, straightforward and positive people, I like challenges and if a plan works!

What I dislike: Stay-at-homes, cold and wet feet and anything that is hindering advancement

Hobbies: Modern Dance, hiking and mountain climbing, alpine ski touring, jogging and horseback riding

My favorite bike: Generally, I'm fine with all bikes; however, I came to enjoy most the 1200 GS, the 1200 RT and the Ducati Multistrada. At home, I enjoy riding my 'all-terrain' Yamaha TT 600.

Angela was born and grew up in the Allgäu, the very southern and, as she thinks, the most beautiful part of Germany. Since the mountains predominantly shape the landscape in this area, you better learn to live with the fact that you somehow have to get up and down the mountains anyways. Be it on skies, on sled, on tires, by bicycle, by funicular or on foot – you name it, Angela did it! For Angela, however, the most fascinating way to get up and down a mountain is by riding a motorcycle. To elegantly master her bike through those curvy mountain roads… this is when Angela starts getting really focused. By the time she had gone up and down almost all of these mountains, Angela thought about discovering the other countries in Europe. When she visited the city of Genoa/Italy she found out about the ferry boats that would take her and her motorcycle to even further away destinations. Consequently, she travelled the Northern African countries and later Turkey and the Middle East. Angela came to like especially the last two areas. But this is not the end of the story! A few years later Angela discovered Edelweiss and very soon figured out that Edelweiss would be the best cure for her need to travel the world! Not only does Angela love to ride a motorcycle, she also likes to get things going, she is fond of languages and of learning about other cultures, and she likes to get to know people from around the globe. These are only a few of the reasons why Edelweiss decided to hire her as a tour guide in 2010! Well, if you want to know more, you better go on tour with her and find out yourself ...

Wim Doms Tours I will be leading: Starting off in Europe’s playground: The Alps!

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: I only sing when I have my helmet on, so people don’t have to listen to it!

Favorite destination: Alps, Scotland and Great Britain, Scandinavia, Canada… Anywhere where there’s mountains (and a nice cold beer in the evening)!

What I like: A good, well executed magic trick! (Oh, and the yawl of a six-cylinder sports car)

What I dislike: Being stuck in traffic jams! (Oh, even more so in a six-cylinder sports car…. Such a shame)

Hobbies: Well, riding bikes obviously. But also old-timer car rallies and motorsports.

My favorite bike: My R 1200 GS for the great travel companion it is. And the Moto Guzzi Bellagio, for its sheer beauty.

Wim from Belgium is in his mid-thirties and lives in Meise, right outside Brussels, in a small street from where he has the best possible view of the city. He works in PR for a car company, hence his love for old-timers and six-cylinder engines. Whenever he’s not on a bike or in a car he goes out on extended walks with Bo, the sweetest Golden Retriever in the world. Wim started guiding tours for Edelweiss in 2014.

Tony Fairweather Tours I will be leading: Best of Europe tours

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: I love discovering new places and passing that joy on to other people is one of the things I do best!

Favorite destination: Switzerland and the French Alps - tiny twisty roads with nobody there save a few goats and amazing food ...

What I like: Early mornings in the mountains, empty roads and the growl of a Ducati!

What I dislike: Bitter almonds - I detest them!

Hobbies: Travelling, skiing, rock climbing, 20th century history and cooking

My favorite bike: My Ducati Monster S4R. Not the best touring bike out there but a huge amount of fun!

His name sounds very British indeed, but Anthony was actually born in Austria, in Salzburg to be precise, back in 1981. After his birth he immediately started travelling. Due to his father‘s job he was frequently taken out of school to go spend a month or two in some far away country, a theme which has carried through to his adult life. His professional career includes working as a translator for a chemical clean-up project in the Czech Republic and hotel concierge in San Diego, California. Recently he returned to Austria where he splits his time between ski instructing, working as a paramedic and riding his bike. Anthony started his new career with Edelweiss in 2013.

Ray Fallbacher Tours I will be leading: As many as possible!

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: I like to show people foreign culture, best way to travel is on motorbike!

Favorite destination: Italy, Africa (Sahara, Morocco, Namibia) and New Zealand

What I like: Pasta, red wine, good rides and enjoying life

What I dislike: Bad mood

Hobbies: Riding motorbikes (of course), diving, photography, sport and traveling

My favorite bike: I have a lot: two of them are BMW GS 1100/1200 Adventure and Harley Davidson Night Rod

Reinhard was born in 1974 and lives in Munich, the capital of Bavaria. He knows that Americans like short first names, so you are welcome to call him Ray. You may do that even if you’re not American. Ray joined the ranks of the Edelweiss tour guides in 2012 because he loves riding and traveling and he feels the urge to convey his feelings to other riders and travelers. You found the right place for that, Ray!

Björn Fath Tours I will be leading: Various tours in Europe

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: I’m very helpful, service oriented and well organized. As a mechanical engineer I can solve any technical problem – in theory at least. Let’s see how that works in real life ...

Favorite destination: Anywhere, as long as there are mountains and great roads.

What I like: Good weather, being on the road, getting to know new people and places and empty roads

What I dislike: Traffic jams, stress, doing the same thing over and over again,..

Hobbies: Motorcycling, sports (fitness) and travelling

My favorite bike: BMW R 1150 R Rockster

Björn – pronounce the ö like the u in urban – was born in Mainz, an ancient city on the banks of the Rhine. It didn't take him long to figure out that he was interested in all kinds of vehicles, and so he got his motorcycle license at the age of 18 and bought his first bike two weeks later. He started out on a Suzuki SV650 S and it did not take long until he took the bike on a first tour through the Black Forest. This tour must have impressed him so much that he moved to the northern part of Black Forest just after he finished his academic studies in Darmstadt, to have the Black Forest high road at his doorstep. Today he works in the automotive industry in Karlsruhe and as he figured how important it is to have some time away from the office every now and then, he applied at Edelweiss. Here it became apparent that more than a dozen busy years of riding under his belt made him a very safe and seasoned rider. Guiding comes naturally to him and no problem or situation can get him out of his comfort zone. And you can rest assured that we tried and tested him thoroughly …

Tom Friden Tours I will be leading: Tours in Europe

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: I love exploring foreign countries, including their historical remnants, their unusual landscapes and different cultures. All of this I want to share with other people interested in bike travelling

MotoGP-Rennen ansehen, englischen Humor, guten Grip und einen kalten Cidre am Ende eines guten Motorrad-Tages

What I dislike: Mosquitoes, coffee, traffic jams and greedy people

Hobbies: Music concerts, fitness, Thai-boxing, and travelling, sometimes even without motorbike

My favorite bike: One of my favorite bikes it the good old Africa Twin but I also like my current bike, the Triumph Tiger Explorer

Despite the fact that Tom was born and raised in Luxemburg he did not, at any point in his life, want to become a banker. Instead he wanted to ride motorcycles, the more the better, and with his father being a professional riding instructor Tom was able to get off to a good start. He began riding in 1998 and the Alps, spreading out not far south of his doorstep, provided the perfect training ground. To finance his passion Tom became a bus driver, a stressful job even in Luxemburg, so he joined Edelweiss in 2015, hoping to find some relief from daily stress situations. Keep hoping, Tom!

Michael Göbel Tours I will be leading: Pyrenees, Pyrenees Extreme, Triumph Highlander Tour, Triumph Celtic Tour, Triumph South-East Asia Tour

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because I enjoy being with them and I love riding motorcycles!

Favorite destination: Thailand

What I like: Challenging roads and off-road riding

What I dislike: City traffic

Hobbies: Motorcycling, off-road riding, trial biking, playing guitar and singing

My favorite bike: Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200

Even if you haven’t been on tour with Michael you have probably heard of him: he is the Singing Tour Guide, the man with the guitar. For him, the perfect end to a great day on the bike is sitting around the campfire under a star-filled sky, playing and singing and having a good time. Michael was born in 1961 in Würzburg, a small town in northern Bavaria. He worked as an architect for many years, then decided to follow his dreams and joined Edelweiss in 2005. In 2011 he started looking after our new program of Triumph tours.

Ted Goslinga Tours I will be leading: High Alpine Tour, Kings and Castles Tour, tours at the US West Coast and Christopher Columbus Tour

What I dislike: Bad weather and dishonest people. And Sauerkraut!

Hobbies: Motorcycling, music, playing guitar/drums, scuba diving, sports,..

My favorite bike: The next one ... but also the BMW R 1200 GS or any other bike suitable for the tours I guide!

Like every true Dutchman Ted loves boats. In fact he loved boats so much that he joined the Dutch Navy and lived, for many years, on boats of all sizes, all over the world. For a while he settled down in Florida, for another while in the Caribbean, and for a third while in Portugal, but now, as a retired “Navy guy”, he moved back to Holland, where he lives with his wife. His three grown-up kids also live in Holland. Ted was born in ’62 and joined Edelweiss in ’14, so he calls himself “the oldest rookie” among the tour guides. But don’t worry, Ted: as retiree with plenty of time on your hands you won’t be a rookie very long ...

Björn Greibig Tours I will be leading: Tours in Europe

What I like: Riding my vintage BMW through the mountains!

What I dislike: Sitting in traffic jams!

Hobbies: Skiing, Mountain Biking, Restoring old cars/ bikes, watching TV

My favorite bike: My 1978 BMW R 80/7

If you ask Milan where he’s from he will stop and think for a few seconds. Born in Chile to German parents but grown up in the US, in Colorado. Speaks three languages fluently. So where is he from? If home is where the heart is then Milan’s home is Telluride, Colorado, where he lives with his wife and dog. Telluride is a great place to live when you like outdoor activities like skiing, mountain biking, backpacking, river rafting and hiking. Milan loves all these things, but he especially enjoys riding motorcycles; he started when he was only 13, on a 50cc Honda dirt bike. Today there is hardly anybody who is more familiar with Colorado’s back roads. Milan started guiding tours for Edelweiss in 2013. Whenever he is not guiding, he owns and operates a construction business specializing in building and remodeling energy efficient or "High Performance" homes. In a mountain environment, it's important to have a comfortable home! Sorry Milan, but you won’t be home that much anymore ...

Uwe Hausleitner Tours I will be leading: Tours in Europe

I lived also for years in Buenos Aires, Argentina - big port, bigger river, ocean also ... so to sum it up I would say Hamburg and Buenos Aires are my favorite places ... but the world is a big place ... lot‘s to see ...

What I like: Positive thinking and riding my motorcycle on a warm and sunny day, meeting friendly people and sharing some routes with them ... riding with others is a good thing and at the end of the day you can sit together sharing impressions!

Hobbies: Riding motorcycles, Basketball, Baseball, family, camping vacations, cooking, positive thinking and living

My favorite bike: No specific one

People from Hamburg are said to be more open-minded and more outgoing than others. Mirko, born in Hamburg in the mid-70ies, is no exception, in fact he is so outgoing that he went all the way to Buenos Aires and lived there for a couple of years. After working in the shipping industry for many years Mirko joined Edelweiss in 2013. He would love to specialize in South America tours since this is the continent he loves most, so if you book a tour down there chances are that you’ll get in touch with his genuine Hamburg humor ...

My favorite bike: BMW F650GS (great for travelling), Beta 525

Born in 1975 in the southern part of beautiful Black Forest Andreas was busy riding mountain passes in the Alps even before his motorcycle career started. But bicycles were just too exhausting, and the Alps were too small, so he set off to discover the world on motorcycles. Europe, Russia, Georgia, northern Africa, South America and Australia were his destinations so far, he even participated in rally races. Andreas is a precision engineer by trade, studied in Nuremberg and traveled the world working as a product manager. After a well-earned sabbatical he joined Edelweiss in 2015, searching for some thrill in his life. You’ve come to the right place, Andreas!

David, one of the youngest of all Edelweiss tour guides, was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a resort town in the Bavarian Alps, in the far south of Germany. He grew up and still lives in Klais, a pretty village outside of Garmisch, where people still wear Lederhosen as an everyday outfit. After he finished school David joined the military for a year, finished an apprenticeship as a shoemaker and worked for the Germany Alpine Club, building and maintaining hiking paths and shelters in the Bavarian Alps. He enjoyed doing all these things but when Edelweiss came along and offered him a job he instantly knew what to do ... David spends a lot of time riding his KTM and mountain bike off road (and we mean OFF road!!!) and climbing and hiking and working out, so he is top fit. If you should come on one of his tours you are always welcome to join him for a little triathlon before breakfast.

He seems to like it in good old Europe, because he has not left it during the last 30 years other than for purely recreational purposes. Pazlo has everything a tour guide needs to have: he loves to travel, he likes to meet good people and make new friends, he values good food and he loves to ride motorcycles. He joined the Edelweiss team in 2012 and we’re sure he’s going to love it!

My favorite bike: A nice Triumph Scrambler

Merano, a town in South Tyrol, is not only one of the cradles of modern tourism, but also Alan’s home town. He was born here, in the land of wine and apples, at some point during the last quarter of the 20th century, and he grew up climbing the surrounding mountains and riding the twisty roads that were all around him. He likes to travel and he loves to move around on two wheels, therefore he loves his work as a tour guide. In his spare time he prefers his bicycle, though, because he likes to work out and keep fit. Which is good, because you get older even if you keep your age to yourself, Alan ...

Manuel Marabese Tours I will be leading: Alps, Tuscany, Southern Italy, Norway.

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: A smile and a deep knowledge of the tour is a good combination for a happy guest.

Favorite destination: Anywhere I haven't been yet... the discovery is simply fabulous.

What I like: The breeze of the coastal roads, the heat of the deserts, the breathtaking curves of the mountains, the sound of the motorbikes, the life on the road.

What I dislike: Unhappy skies.

Hobbies: Travelling, trekking, diving, snowboarding, dog-sledding, snowmobiling, reading, photography.

My favorite bike: HONDA CBR 600 F, my private lover.

Manuel, born in 1982, is one of the Italians reinforcing the ranks of Edelweiss tour guides. He grew up in Bolzano, surrounded by the Dolomites and their incredible alpine roads. This favourable setting – and having a great rider as a father – invited him to start riding motorbikes at the age of 14. Now at over 30 he is still enjoying every km of road as it was the first time. After his bachelor in philosophy Manuel realised that Nirvana can be reached while travelling; he moved to northern Norway and spent several seasons above the Arctic Circle working as a tour guide. In 2009 he finally had the opportunity to combine his passions guiding, travelling and riding a motorcycle by joining Edelweiss. Since then he has guided many tours in Europe, mostly in Italy and in Scandinavia. The Alps and nearby areas like Slovenia and Croatia come in from time to time, as a gentle touch between the extreme North and deep South, together with tours around charming Central Europe. Even after studying in Denmark and becoming a Master of Tourism in the process it is hard for Manuel to nominate his preferred Edelweiss tour. One of the things he likes most is meeting rider companions from previous tours and lead them into new discoveries. His past as pure tour guide and ‘philosopher’ gives him a fair deal of communication skills and he truly loves the daily briefings and the stops along the way, when he can share his knowledge with the group. He likes to add a bit of irony, because a great laugh is the best icebreaker while starting a new tour. Besides riding and travelling, he also likes photography, snowboarding, scuba diving, rock music and a good beer after a long ride under a perfect sunny day. Although there is a Honda CBR in his garage his favourite bikes for touring are GS, RT, Multistrada and Triumph Tiger. Edelweiss guides are spoiled enough to have the fortune to ride all of them on tour so we don’t really have to choose only a single favourite one... And, no, like you, Manuel does not like rain too much, but sometimes it is part of the deal. In fact he agrees with the famous Norwegian motto that says: “There is no bad weather, only bad clothes”.

Danilo Perini Tours I will be leading: Different tours in Europe

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: among friends feeling

Favorite destination: New Zealand and Alaska

What I like: Tight Turns and Off-Road routes

What I dislike: Highways and Arrogant people

Hobbies: Motocross/Enduro/Mountainbike

My favorite bike: Meine Yamaha Vmax 1200 1996 and YZ 450f

I was born in Brazil, with Italian origins. Due to studies, moved to Germany and decided to stay. Motorcycles are my passion since I was a little boy and when I was 19, it became my Job. Between workshop, enduro racing, motocross and off-road tours, I was sure that this was the right lifestyle for me. Several thousands of kilometers through Europe on two wheels, is whole lot of fun as well. I like being with people and always try to learn something from them. Traveling the world is on my dream list.

Ursula Peter Tours I will be leading: Tour of Tuscany, Royal Edelweiss Dream, High Alpine Tour, Morocco Tour, Rome to Sicily and Alps Extreme

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Try it out and you'll see! But be careful - you might get addicted!

Favorite destination: Tuscany, because of the chaotic, open-hearted, passionate Italians mixed with twisty, windy roads, awesome food and even better wine!

What I like: Gummy bears, get-up-and-go people, the unexpected and good friends

What I dislike: Pedants, holes in socks, wet motorcycle boots, iced windshields and bad food

Hobbies: Cooking and eating with friends, a good glass of wine, languages and all kind of sports

My favorite bike: What a question! The R 1200 GS of course. If you know anything better, please let me know!

Quite a few female tour guides are working for Edelweiss these days, but when Ursula started guiding groups back in 2004 she was the only one. She doesn’t want us to know how old she is, which is ok since she happily gives away plenty of other information: born, raised and still living in south-western Bavaria, in a lovely region known as the Allgäu, pronounced Ull-goy. For Ursula this is the most beautiful spot our planet has to offer, but she still loves to go out and see other places, most notably Italy. She loves to ride big bikes but secretly adores the Vespa 300. She’s a lot of fun to be on tour with, so make sure you give it a try. And if you ask her how she and Edelweiss got together all she’ll tell you is: it was just inevitable ...

Tourguide Pablo Tours I will be leading: Scooter Tours, Tours in France, Alps Extreme, Mediterranean Alps Extreme, Best of Europe

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because I can tell jokes like nobody can. You know the one with the Australian farmer…?

Favorite destination: There are so many places. I love the Alps right through, seeing the Dolomites gives me goosebumps (the good type) and Morocco is breathtaking.

What I like: Adventure, seeing new things, a challenge.

What I dislike: Monotony and people being fake.

Hobbies: DIY projects, mechanics, cooking, creating stuff in general. I enjoy learning and spending time with the family.

My favorite bike: BMW R1200 GS, Ducati Multistrada and my VanVan (so much fun to ride in busy Parisian traffic)

Pablo was born in Spain, grew up in England, is still crazy in love with his girlfriend from Italy and now lives in France. He is a trained chef and confectioner, worked in the hospitality industry for years, managed a handful of different companies – some with more, some with less success – and lived, worked and travelled all over the place. So you think he must be at least 50 years old, but he only looks 50, he is actually much younger. He speaks five languages, but since German is not one of them his colleagues have been trying to teach him some strong language, and man, he is one fast learner! Pablo joined Edelweiss in 2015 and if you should ever be on one of his tours we have one piece of advice for you: bring a well-trained diaphragm...

Christian Preining Tours I will be leading: Anywhere in the world!

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: You better like what you have to do anyway and often people loose their free will after the first contact already. That's how it is if you get caught by a drug dealer. My mission is to get you addicted. Warning: Success rate - high!

Favorite destination: New Zealand - Roosting or leaned over all the way through paradise - how much better can it get?

What I like: Curves - round, tight, anytime, anywhere!

What I dislike: Anything that hinders momentum sucks!

Hobbies: Reading, running, moto-X, skiing, snowboarding - things that allow my mind and body to take a flight!

My favorite bike: BMW R 1200 GS - constant fun factor - from the Autobahn of Munich to the dunes of Pismo Beach!

Despite the fact that many people, especially those from English speaking countries, frequently mispronounce his last name, Christian consistently delivers a top tour-guiding performance. He has worked for Edelweiss for many, many, many years, for so long actually that hardly anybody remembers the time before. During these years he travelled to every country you can possibly think of, riding his motorcycle through scorching deserts, across snow-covered mountain passes, through dripping wet rainforests and in and out of heavily congested cities, and he always manages to convince his faithfully following group that this is the best fun they ever had. Christian was born in Austria in 1956 and he still lives there, in the hills outside Linz, in an old farmhouse that he lovingly restored. He used to be a professional motocross racer, then guided trekking- and adventure tours in the US for years before joining the Edelweiss team in 1994. If you asked him why he still loves guiding tours for Edelweiss, this would be his answer: “Where else could I find a job where I constantly get to meet new friends while being sent out to the most exotic locations of the planet in order to attack those wicked, cool, twisting roads on the newest, best-performing motorcycles? And then they force me to have a beer!”

Tom Ritt Tours I will be leading: New Zealand, Tibet, Kilimanjaro, Scotland, and everything else that comes my way!

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because I can show them how to eat with chop sticks!

Favorite destination: New Zealand, Tibet and the Alps

What I like: A great day on the bike!

What I dislike: Cold pizza and warm beer!

Hobbies: Motorcycling, travelling, bicycling and hiking

My favorite bike: My faithful old Suzuki and my not quite as faithful and even older Yamaha.

Tom was born in Munich in 1972, only a stone’s throw from the Oktoberfest site. The beautiful Bavarian capital has been his home ever since, he loves the laid-back lifestyle of the “million-people-village” and the proximity to mountains, lakes and forests. Tom has guided tours on all continents since he started working for Edelweiss in 2003. The job satisfies his desire to be on the road and on a bike and gives him the chance to practice his intercultural communications skills ...

Jens Ruprecht Tours I will be leading: Best of Europe and Cuba

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because I take it easy!

Favorite destination: That is difficult to answer because I don't know all destinations. Some of my favorites tours are run in South America, China, Morocco, Cuba and Scotland!

What I like: Travelling on all the different kind of vehicles either with Edelweiss or my own family!

What I dislike: Bus tourists

Hobbies: Travelling, cooking, playing with my little son and fixing my old house!

My favorite bike: A lot of bikes are great so it is hard to make a choice!

Jens, one of the longest-serving tour guides in the team, “retired” to the office in 2012, after twelve years on the road. His young family, especially his son Pablo, turned the restless traveler into a settled man. For many years Jens, born in 1969, lived in Worms, a town on the banks of the Rhine. Throughout his life he loved to travel, he went to Africa, Thailand, Australia and the US, he lived in Madrid and in Corsica and he criss-crossed South America on two wheels, left to right, top to bottom. For him work as a tour guide meant a perfect match of his favorite hobbies and the inevitable need to make a living. After his son was born in 2009 Jens yearned for more time at home. When a position became available in the head office he seized the opportunity and moved to Austria. Now he designs custom tours for groups from every conceivable country, from Israel to Brazil, from Taiwan to Canada. Spanish speaking groups from South and Central America are his favorites; his Spanish, you see, is better than his English. Some people say it’s even better than his German… ;-) Whenever he is not in the office or on tour (he still looks after the Best of Europe), Jens is at home, cooking, fixing his old house or playing with his son. A real family guy! If you’re ever in the area, drop in for a coffee: Jens loves to talk about riding the roads of the great wide world.

Domenico Schiano Tours I will be leading: As many as possible!

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because they can feel that for me it is not a job, but a real pleasure to be on a tour with them!

Favorite destination: The ones I haven't been yet, because I am very curious and I love to discover new places, roads and cultures!

What I like: Animals, nature, beautiful landscapes, twisty roads, slow food... and everything that moves on two wheels!

What I dislike: Rainy days and heavy traffic

Hobbies: Motorcycling (of course), cycling, listening to music, reading, photography and spending time with my friends and family!

My favorite bike: My 4 year old Suzuki V-Strom 650, comfortable, reliable, economic but also very emotional!

Born and raised in Naples and therefore a real Italian, Domenico had no choice. After spending his childhood years riding around on bicycles he acquired a motorized two-wheeler as soon as he was old enough, and the vehicle he got was – of course – a Vespa. Domenico studied economics and after his graduation he went to work in the tourism industry, because he wanted to see the world while working. After several years of experience in hotels, holiday resorts, travel agencies, and cruise ships, he decided that time had come to combine his past professional experiences with his passion for motorcycles, so he applied with Edelweiss. We were happy to take him on, and from 2013 on Domenico will be a tour guide.

Florian Schmidbauer Tours I will be leading: Tours in South America, Alps, Spain and New Zealand

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: With me every tour is becoming an adventure and I am getting a lot of contact to the locals - „Please can you tell me how I get to...“ ;-)!

Favorite destination: All of my tours are fantastic in their own way!

What I like: Streets, on which you even lay down in the curves while driving them by car!

What I dislike: Motorway by motorcycle!

Hobbies: Sport in the mountains, at the sea or simply at home!

My favorite bike: A specialized Allez!

It was late in 2007 when Florian received the call. He was working in New Zealand at the time and when Edelweiss needed somebody to co-guide a special tour down there he jumped on board. Florian was born in 1975 and grew up in a small town outside of Munich, Bavaria, Germany. He is a carpenter by trade, worked in the field for years and actually still does, whenever he is not out on tour. Recently he spent a year in South America, working and travelling and learning to speak Spanish, and right after he returned home Edelweiss called – again – and sent him straight back to guide a tour in Peru. It’s not that easy to quit, Florian!

Rob Stoll Tours I will be leading: Many of the new Harley tours

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: I am easy going, fun, and dependable

Favorite destination: Rocky Mountains, Alps, Monument Valley, Sturgis and European Bike Week

What I like: Good food, good people and good times

What I dislike: Rude people, fish and country music

Hobbies: Riding, travel, ice hockey (Colorado Avalanche!), football and soccer

My favorite bike: My 2009 Harley Davidson Street Glide. She is named “Maggie” after my mother Margrit

Rob, born in the US to Swiss parents in the mid-60s, is a Harley guy through and through. Tattoos, beard, hair cut, everything points him out as a fan of the American iron and it is unusual to see him wearing anything but a Harley-Davidson t-shirt. His previous job included handling some very heavy machinery, maybe this is why Rob feels so at home on his Harley. Rob loves to travel; so far he was able to check more than 30 countries off his bucket list. He lived in Switzerland for two years to hone his language skills and every time he rides his motorcycle in Europe he can feel his grandfather’s presence as the rode his Condor 65 years ago. He feels at home on both sides of the pond.

Christian Thaler Tours I will be leading: The Viking Experience, Touring Center Norway, various tours in the Alps

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because hassle-free tours are my specialty!

Favorite destination: Everything that’s new, especially in Europe and Asia!

What I like: Good food

What I dislike: There is nothing I can think of!

Hobbies: Motorcycling, mountaineering, hiking, skiing, photograhpy, ...

My favorite bike: I like adventure bikes because they are comfortable and can still take you off road!

Christian was born in Styria and raised in Lower Austria, and for the last 16 years he has lived in Tyrol, becoming a “real” Tyrolean in the process. But he also dared to venture outside of Austria; his jobs took him to the Middle East, the Balkans and to Central Asia. Christian’s motto is “strength is born of calmness”; he started guiding tours for Edelweiss in 2014.

Andreas Tschugg Tours I will be leading: Touratech event tour, Pyrenees Extreme

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because you can always have fun with me and I love to meet new people and learn about new cultures.

Favorite destination: The Alps, middle and eastern Europe

What I like: good food, traveling, nice people

What I dislike: a lack of respect

Hobbies: motorbike travel, trail biking

My favorite bike: Of course the R 1200GS, and if you know a better bike, let me know :)

Andreas lives in the beautiful Tyrolean Inn valley near Innsbruck. "I spend my weekends with the GS in the Alps or I take my backpack and the Beta trail and paint my home mountains red."

Claudia Wenhart Tours I will be leading: Tours in the Alps, Italy and Spain

Reason why people enjoy being on tour with me: Because I like to travel on two wheels and to share my enthusiasm with my groups.

Favorite destination: South Tyrol, southern France, South America

What I like: Spend time with friends, travel, typical regional food and good wine, pure nature and lovely scenery, remote places and the off-road trails that lead there, curves

What I dislike: Dishonesty, deceitfulness, avoidable stress

Hobbies: Motorcycling, spinning, yoga, hiking, skiing,

My favorite bike: My own BMW F650GS

Claudia is a real Bavarian girl, born, raised and still at home in Munich. She completed an apprenticeship in hotel management, worked in the field for years, studied tourism and event management and worked in that field again for years. Right now she has a regular office job, something that doesn’t quite fulfill her, so when she went on the Edelweiss Moscow to Bangkok tour as a customer in 2014 and witnessed the exciting and diverse lives of her tour guides, she instinctively knew what to do… Now she lives according to her motto: you can’t add more years to your life, but you can add more life to your years.
