April 6 - 7, 2013 - Mieming, Tyrol / Austria

When looking at our Edelweiss Bike Travel Homepage under ABOUT US - TOUR GUIDES you will notice how many people belong to the Edelweiss tour guide team already.

You may have met some of them when participating in your Edelweiss tour and some you might meet on a future motorcycle trip. And even tough, the tour guide team consists of so many guides already Edelweiss did hire a couple of new guides for 2013 and beyond.

In order to keep up with the worldwide Edelweiss standard and to make sure that our guides are always up to date we once again get together to held the annual Edelweiss Tour Guide Training.

After having herald the training weekend on Friday, with an exciting paperchase in and around Mieming (that's where Edelweiss headquarters is located) everybody get's together Saturday morning for the first classroom session.

Of course, further details are confidential however, we may tell you that some of the main topics are talking about new changes for the upcoming season, about the legendary Edelweiss picnics, expenses, problems on tour / how to solve them at the customers convenience and much more...

Shortly before noon we notice the new guides leaving the classroom secretly and quietly - where are they going? When chasing their track we soon locate them outside - busily preparing lunch in the legendary "Edelweiss picnic style"...

Being strengthened by that excellent picnic the tour guides split into groups in the afternoon to walk through the garage in order to learn more about the Edelweiss motorcycle fleet for 2013 and about technical details and repair...

To complete the day all guides plus the headquarters office meet for dinner and a couple of drinks.

Amongst others this get together is to celebrate the 'Tour Guide of the Year' as well as the winner of our new competition called 'Blogger of the Year':

1) Tour Guide of the Year:

In third place... Gottfried Kofler

In second place... Manuel Taschner and

In first place: Marko Bauer

2) Rookie of the Year: Gerhard Schmittlein

3) Blogger of the Year: Manuel Marabese

* * * SUNDAY, April 7, 2013 * * *

When participating in an Edelweiss tour you will notice that one of the most important things at Edelweiss is safety. For that reason the better part of Sunday is used for a special first aid training held by a local rescue team.

PLEASE DON'T BE SCARED: The victims showed in the following pictures have been prepared with make-up to give the training the touch of reality!

Shortly after the first aid session the training comes to an end and we thank everybody for attending the training and for helping to improve our service by implementing everything we've learnt. Take care and see you soon!

Hello from bella Napoli! I would like to say bye to everybody, yesterday I had to run to catch the train as soon as we took this last picture (tank you Gottfried for giving me a ride!).
It was a really nice time in Mieming, from the "gps treasure hunt" to the preparation of the picnic and the "regular" training in the classroom... and it was great to meet all of you. I never had enough of listening stories from the more expreienced tour guides and I can't wait for my first one to start!
Many greetings, hope to see you soon!
Ciao,
Domenico
