Riding Day 1: Catania to Agrigento

On our first riding day we leave Catania in the morning. The first kilometers take us west on the highway. After we have enough distance to the hustle and bustle of the city we leave the highway and ride through the mountains. The rain of the last weeks has left its traces. The roads are partly covered with sand and earth. A small adventure, so to speak. We ride kilometer after kilometer towards our highlight of the day. An old Roman villa from the fourth century. After a typical Italian lunch we reach Agrigento. Here not only our hotel awaits us but also the unique Valley of the Temples.

Riding Day 2 - Agrigento to Chefalu

Our second day starts with fantastic weather.  Today we drive from the south of the island to the north.  Before we arrive in Cefalú we surf through the mountains and see where all the mafia bosses were born.  Coreolone.  But surely no one will stop us .  Curvy it goes through fantastic landscape.

Riding Day 3 - Cefalu to Taormina

Another day in paradise awaits us. The weather is fantastic, we have countless curves ahead of us and there is a lot to see. First we go to Castlebueno which means "beautiful castle" and yes the name fits. We even saw one of the famous garbage donkeys. In Sperlonga we climb the mighty fortress and enjoy a magnificent view over the surrounding countryside. And then there are those countless curves

Rest Day - Taormina

Today is rest day...that means resting of course. But by no means that we do not ride a motorcycle. After all, today we have the chance to go up on Etna. And this chance we use. The ride up the volcano is a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the view is somewhat limited. But hey we go today on an active volcano... not everyone can claim that. We are also back in time to see the beautiful old town.

Etna we are coming

Riding Day 4 - Taormina to Tropea

it's time to say goodbye .today we leave this beautiful island of Sicily we had a fantastic time here on the motorbike .we saw great turns and beautiful scenery the ferry is waiting for us we transfer to the mainland to arrive in Tropea tonight  and see the rest of Italy

the day begins with a fantastic sunrise

...... and  breakfast

it always smokes, the Etna volcano

Happy birthday Thomas

Riding day 5 - Tropea to Maratea

Another day in paradise... Today we had the choice between the coastal road and the way through the mountains. Some of us can not get enough of curves. Others want to enjoy the country and culture to the fullest. Fine that we have on an Edelweiss tour at any time the choice, driving in the group or discovering on your own. So off we went with our tour guide into the mountains.... and oh my god what a motorcycle paradise.

Riding day 6 - Maratea to Pompeii

The view from the balcony of our rooms already suggests that another great but also full day is waiting for us....does not matter tomorrow is rest day. Almost next to the hotel we could already admire last night the ramps which lead us to the top of a small mountain on which a statue of Jesus is enthroned. From there we enjoy the wonderful over the landscape and enjoy the magic of this place. Then we will go along the coast and through the mountains to Paestum. Where we can enjoy a picnic and admire the ruins of an ancient Greek city. After a few kilometers of highway we reach Pompeii. There a local guide will be waiting for us to lead us through the excavation site. Oh man so many impressions...that screams for a rest day.

Hi Michaela,
Albert took super good care of us in Africa so please do the same and make sure he rides on the correct side of the road.

Hi Albert,
It is so good to see you enjoying an Edelweiss tour instead of working an Edelweiss tour. No bent rims, okay?

Hoping that our paths will cross on another tour! All the best,
Diane
