CCC1902 Christopher Columbus Tour

Wednesday, October 23, 2019 | Angela / Pierre Baumgärtner / Pablo Piferrer | Europe

Once more a riding season in the northern hemisphere of the globe is coming to an end. But, of course, this doesn't mean that you can't continue riding a motorcycle, right

A group of riders from the USA, a German couple, and a couple from New Zealand had exactly this idea and prolonged their riding season of the year 2019 here in the south of Spain and Portugal. So far we've been having a wonderful time and enjoyed the Spanish hinterland, the Algarve coast of Portugal, as well as its Atlantic coast.

Come with us and enjoy the sun on the Iberian Peninsula with us

Guided City Tour Malaga - ahead of the tour start

Martha & Bill, Mary & Tom, and Hope & Dean arrived in Málaga a day earlier to go and see this beautiful city on the Costa del Sol.
Our stroll started at the interesting building of the food market ...
... passing trough the green gardens along the harbour area.
We had the chance to throw a glance into Málaga's city hall ...
... some of us did great shopping ...
... before we marvelled the view over the Málaga bay.
The fortress Gibralfaro also served as an ideal point for a quick break ...
... but the real good food was to be found down in old town Málaga again.
At the end of our sightseeing day we visited the Cathedral of Málaga, and then returned to the base hotel for the tour's welcome briefing.

Day 2 Rest day in Sevilla - guided city tour

Sevilla is a city that sure deserves an extended visit. On our restday there, we saw plenty of sights, enjoyed a Paella dinner, as well as a great Flamenco show.

The blue day promised a perfect beginning of our day walking through Sevilla. Andreas & Sarah from Germany went together with Tracy & Ed, Mary & Tom, and Jane from New Zealand
A short walk from the hotel along the River Guadalquivir brought us to our first highlight - Sevilla's bull fighting arena. What an impressive building!
And also a newly added, and VERY impressive bull ! Luckily, it is his time after the fight ...
First, we walked the informative museum of the place. But later, of course, we got to see the arena itself. Open the doors !!
The bull's entrance
The president's loge. At the end of each fight he is judging how well the bull fighter had performed.
A slightly odd feeling to stand in the middle of the arena ...
... as well as to see the traces of past bull fights.
We continued our walk further down town to visit the most important part of the tour ...
... here in the Cathedral of Sevilla you will find Christopher Columbus' tomb.
Impressive interior of the cathedral
The exit of the cathedral discovers clearly the Moorish history of the place.
Continuing further into town, we arrived at the Metropol Parasol, a hybrid construction of wood, steel, and concrete

Mr. Osborne - you are still coming along with your friend, despite all the teasing - respect. Enjoy the tour - Spain and Portugal is good, but nothing can beat Italy, haha!
Big hug
