Alps Extreme 4AE1201

Saturday, June 23, 2012 | Angela | Europe

Riding your motorcycle on these amazing alpine roads in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy makes it easy for you to leave your daily business back home! During the past six days of the Alps Extreme tour, our group of 19 riders did nothing but take in the breathtaking landscape of the Alpen and the Dolomiten and manouver their bikes through roads that seemed to be just put there to ride a motorbike!

Have a look at the pictures below and you'll understand the many "wow's" and jodeling-like "yahoo's" that you could hear during the past days

Dave, Nancy and Bill on top of the Hahntenjoch

Oh, and Dave is one of the toughest fellow riders I've met so far! With the Alps Extreme he did his third Tour in a row!! (Italy, Spain, Alps)

At the end of the first riding day, the toughest guys made it all up to the glacier in the Kauner valley.

After a warm riding day, Nancy and Bill enjoy the fresh and cool air at the top of the glacier.

On the way down again...

...at the water reservoir

The next morning we heard the wolf calling... and continued into Switzerland where we stopped to see a typical Swiss village

The typical Swiss style houses in Guarda...

The Utah boys, Andrew, Brandon, Vic and Dan together with Steve from Australia...

...and here comes Werner from Alberta, Canada.

Among other fantastic roads, the Stilfser Joch was on our riding plan for the following day. You can test your riding skills on this pass road, the second highest paved mountain road in Europe!

Finding the best spot to take a picture of you and the road

Relaxing and enjoying the view from our hotel in the middle of the mountains...

The next day brought us down to Levico in Italy...

Manfred, Bill & Nancy, Kevin & Jane and Shaun surrounded by the Italian mountains...

Werner, Bill & Nancy and Manfred dancing with their bikes on the roads around Lake Garda...

Passo Manghen was our gateway into the Dolomite mountains. Ron and Darryl beaming with joy over the fantastic ride!

Willie, Tracy, Ron and Darryl from Canada

Darryl, Tracy and the Utah boys on top of the "No. countless" pass

Believe it or not... they "rock" these Dolomites

Vic, Andrew, Brandon and Dan love Italy and the Dolomites!

Cortina d'Ampezzo on the way to Toblach...

Well, what else but a "WOW" can you add to this view from our hotel?

The highest mountain (road) in Austria, the Großglockner, brought us back to our base hotel near Munich.

At the Edelweiss Spitze, the biker meeting point on top of the Großglockner!

Thank you to all the tour members of this Alps Extreme Tour! I had a great time guiding you through my motorcycle playground

Always ride safely!

We followed Darryl a month later into the Alps with our guide, Manuel. Other than for a tiny bit of rain on the first day we had absolutely perfect weather for riding.
I put together this little slideshow that covers a 3 day walkabout in Munich followed by our Extreme Alps Tour.

Thank you Angela and Matthias for tourguiding us thru this wonderful riding days.
After we all got used to each other, a great companienship grew up and we enjoyed
group-riding over the numerous passes and the small scenic by-roads; always following the expert
tour guide.
The hotels were well choosen and the arrivals there weren't too late; we got fine food and enough drinks and the next morning saw us unpatiently waiting for brekfast and the riding to get started.

Great riding on exciting roads with generous fun loving riders. The guides were outstanding. Great riders and fun to ride with. Riding two up was fun on the 1200 RT even on the extreme hair pin turns. A great experience.
