St. James’s Way, arguably the world’s most popular pilgrimage route, leads through one of Europe’s most underrated and yet most beautiful regions: northern Spain.
Starting in Alcalá de Henares, we cross the French border and head into the beautiful mountain world of the Pyrenees. The “Camino Frances” or French Way has been leading pilgrims towards Santiago for centuries, and it will be our guideline as well. However, we will follow it loosely and enjoy the unique atmosphere. Using bikes instead of feet for our “pilgrimage” enables us to explore other places like San Sebastian or the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
On this tour, we stay in beautiful hotels, usually located in ancient buildings which used to be pilgrim accommodations or a bishop’s palace. Imagine sipping your morning coffee while watching the pilgrims walk past and listening to the clicking noise of their walking sticks on the cobblestone. A rest day in Santiago provides time to enjoy the city and to ride to Cabo Finisterre, which was seen as the end of the world for centuries.
