Speedy braking after you've just finished your overtaking maneuvers.
And I thought we Germans were those with a lot of street signs
If you find this picture upon your arrival, you know you have arrived at the right hotel.
And if you also find this picture upon your arrival, you know you are in the right place for the right tour - female tour guide perfectly prepared for the Morocco tour

A warm welcome to Malaga

Sunrise in Spain
The guided city tour in Málaga brings us first to Castillo Gibralfaro, a castle on top of the mountain
From here you have a beautiful view over the city
And one gets a good impression of the bullfighting arena
Walking down was like on a motorcycle: first gear
Plaza de la Merced
The Picasso museum
The highlight of the day was the cathedral
The sizes, decorations and craftsmanship make you silent
Back at the hotel the whole group came together and we had the welcome brieving!

Day 1 - Malaga to Chefchaouen

Our journey to Morocco begins in the south of Spain. From Malaga, we ride straight to the ferry port to cross over to the African continent. Once we've arrived there, however, we will still be on Spanish territory. The border with Morocco is just beyond the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.

Our first stop after we entered Morocco is a coffee place and a cash machine. After all, you want to be able to pay for your coffee, don't you

Then it's time to continue to Chefchaouen. After all, we want to stroll around the town a bit.

To get to Morocco we need to cross the Straight of Gibraltar by ferry.
It seems there is more people than just us, trying to get into Morocco.
Patience is a skill needed when crossing borders
Even more so for the van druver.
The Moroccans have the habit of writing on their hills and mountains. To do so, they use the bright stones which there are plenty of them lying around on the fields.
A warm fireplace welcomed us in our riad hotel in Chefchaouen
A well-deserved dinner

Day 2: from Chefchaouen to Azrou

After our departure from Chefchaouen, first we were being led through a green valley with nice winding roads. Lunch was next to a Roman settlement, volubilis. in the afternoon we went through a large agricultural area. Finishing the day in a skiing area in a beautiful and warm hotel

Morning briefing in the hotel in Chefchaouen
Heading for the pot of gold
Volubilis

Day 3 - Azrou to Bin el Ouidane

Today the ride was supposed to take us through the cedar woods and to the monkeys. Despite the sun that was slowly coming throug the clouds, it was still too cold in the morning to dry up the forest roads from the rain the day before. So we rode up to where the monkeys usually are swinging from tree to tree. But apparently today they were still sleeping at around nine o'clock. At least we took some pictures of the cedar trees before we continued the main roads towards Khenifra.

A very delicious tagine lunch gave us the strength to finalize the day's ride to Bin el Ouidane through the neck of the woods.

A hard decision - coffee or Moroccan mint tea? Why not both
Having a coffee break on the terrace ...
... while watching a Moroccan having a break
Someone seems to be very happy with a one liter Coke Zero in a glass bottle. Never seen this one before.
Hanne from Germany is curious what's for lunch today
The Tajine aux legumes, same like all the other food, was very delicious.
Of course, the vegetables came with a grilled chicken.
From Khenifra there are beautiful back roads leading to Bin el Ouidane ...
... giving away a view of the higher Atlas mountains that are waiting for us to cross
The colours of the rocks are simply mind-blowing
Having a break on the last stretch before the hotel
At the end of our beautiful ride we were rewarded with this nice view from our hotel

Day 4: From Bin El Ouidane to Marrakesch

A lovely relaxing riding to with several highlights: waterfalls, great roads and an area were it looks as if time has stood still. Also perfect riding conditions namely dry, not to warm and sunshine

Sunrise over Bin El Ouidane
Local traffic
Thanks to the rainfall of last month there was plenty water coming down at the Ouzroud waterfalls
Lunch stop
A photo stop in a green valley. It's good to see that in a dry country as Morocco there is plenty of this liquid gold
Just before we drove into Marrakesch we had a roadside coffee stop

Day 5: Marrakesch!

Koutoubia mosk, the biggest and oldest mosk of Marrakesch
One of the many little street in the Kashsbah
Madonna is in Marrakech !!!
We're having a lot of fun walking the streets and alleys of the Medina
In the museum of Marrakesch there is this 5mtr wide chandelier, weighing 1200kg
A great presentation from the pharmacist about natural spices, herbs and oils
They said it was a better adventure to ride back in such a Tuk Tuk instead of a regular taxi

Day 6 - Marrakech to Ouarzazate

We're Marrakeched-out and ready to ride again. Our route will lead us over the high Atlas mountains, and past the remnants of historical Morocco south of the mountain range.

We will visit an old Kashbah that has once been the glorious palace of the ruler over the Berber people in the south.

Ait Benhaddou is another interesting sight along our way through this beautiful mountain area. We also still could see the damages last year's earthquake did to some of the buildings here.

In Ouarzazate we found our lovely hotel for the night.

The rider's meeting in Marrakesh
On the route to the mountain pass Tich'n'Tichka, which leads us over the Atlas
On top of the Tich'n'Tichka
A picture at the top is a must, of course
Delicious vegetable and chicken tagine for lunch
Because of the damages that the earthquake has caused to the building, the Kasbah in Telouet was closed to visitors.
Our route through the southern foothills of the Atlas mountains
Happy riders !!
Picture opportunities almost around every corner.
Sometimes a tour guide needs to do repairs on a motorcycle, and sometimes even on motorcycle boots

Day 8 - Boulmane Dades to Erg Chebbi

Everyone was already very excited - today we are going to end up in Morocco's part of the Sahara desert - the Erg Chebbi.

In the morning, though, we went once more into another gorge of the Moroccan Atlas mountains - the Gorge du Thodra.

After Jan has treated us to a delicious picnic lunch, we continued our route, the landscape turned more and more into a wide-open and arid desert region.

Thinking about getting a turban for the desert? This would be the perfect place to do so.
The narrow road leading into the gorge
Hard to imagine but there are still some people living in this remote area
Exceptional welcome to our desert hotel
Dan from Florida and his trick to change into a local Berber within no time
It didn't take long and we found ourselves on the backs of our camels - riding to our desert camp
Sunset with our camels amidst the sand dunes - there are no words to describe this moment
Of course, our camels "park" right next to our tents.
Delicious dinner in our small restaurant tent
We were lucky tonight to be able to see the fantastic starry sky

Day 9 - Amidst the Moroccan sand dunes

Still a bit sleepy after our great drum session at the fireplace yesterday evening, we were gently "rocking" back to our hotel.

Another good opportunity to relish the desert's peacefull silence.

Good morning !
Hanne fullly enjoys the desert experience
One of the camel guides kept jumping up the sand dunes to take picrures of us
Can you spot him?
Once back at our hotel, everyone was checking out the pool.
Daniel got a shirt and sweater to celebrate his 10th tour with Edelweiss!
