Tour of Tuscany - SPT23028

Saturday, June 17, 2023 | Marko Bauer / Henning Sewöster | Europe / Italy

Eric, Kevin and Gabe in San Galgano

Day 1: Florence - Rimini

Tuscany - not only a paradise for lovers of wine and art, but also for motorcyclists.

We left the hotel under clear blue skies and started out on a tiny, twisty mountain road right away. And that's what we continued doing all day: ride twisty roads. We stopped in La Verna, the former hermitage of Saint Francis of Assisi, and of course for a great lunch.

As it rained later on, we decided to ride straight to our destination, Rimini, on the Mediterranean coast.

Day 2: Rimini -Assisi

In the morning of our 2nd ridingday our daily route takes us from Rimini to Assisi. After a hearty breakfast, we leave the popular seaside resort on the Adriatic Sea in the direction of Urbino, Cortona and Lake Trasimeno. Everyone is in a good mood and looking forward "cornering" some more Italian roads.

Day 3: Rest day Assisi

We are staying in Assisi for another night and spent the first restday. Some of us take the motorcycles to Monte Sibilini for a ride, others are visiting some spots in Assisi or take a massage at the Spa and do some shopping.

Day 4: Assisi - Radda in Chianti

After two days outside of Tuscany, it was time to head back. We left Assisi in the morning and stopped for a final Umbrian cappuccino in Citta della Pieve - the town was quite busy, because the weekly market happened to be today.

Afterwards we reached Tuscany and avoided our first heavy shower by shortcutting to the beautiful Romanic church of Sant'Antimo.

We stopped for lunch in Montalcino, in the middle of tempting Brunello bottles.

We caught a short bit of rain during our cruise through the Crete Sienese, before we reached our beautiful hotel in the Chianti region!

Day 5: Rest day Radda

Rest day - but as usual everybody wanted to ride. So one group took off to explore the twisty roads of the Chianti region, while the other decided to visit Siena!

Both groups had a wonderful day and rejoined for a great dinner in a small restaurant in the heart of Radda!

Day 6: Radda - Florence

Last riding day from Radda back to Villa Pitiana in Donnini where the tour started.

We again enjoy the beautiful roads of the Chianti region and visit the winery on Castel Meleto, where some stock up on their personal wine stocks. Then it goes to an extraordinary and locally very well-known butcher's shop with restaurant in Panzano. There, the "Antica Macelleria Cecchini" rounds off the last day of the tour with a delicious 5-course lunch menu.
