“Sicily to Rome” 2011 (RTS1102) - DAY1

Wednesday, May 11, 2011 | Manuel Marabese | Europe

After our scary stories of the 2010 edition where we broke every record (9 days out of 10 under rain, heavy rain) everyone felt relieved in the moring: blue sky, sunshine and a breakfast view over a snowcapped Etna volcano.

Helmets on the heads, engines roaring, it's time to start. Some easy roads to get acquainted with the new bikes and then hilly roads through central Sicily towards Villa Imperiale del Casale and Valle dei Templi in Agrigento in the afternoon...

After the Sicilian dinner Michael delighted us with his inseparable guitar and some songs in English, German and even with some Italian emotions from Eros Ramazzotti. Was it already mentioned that the view behind the "stage" is enhanced by the Greek temples illuminated by a mystical orange light against the deep darkness of the Mediterranean see?

Tomorrow we are gonna pass through hidden villages such as Corleone and Prizzi before to reach Cefalù, a charming fishing village on the other side of the island...
