TOURENFAHRER Magazine Tour New Zealand SPT19027

New Zealand

New Zealand, the paradise down under, entices visitors not only with pristine nature, relaxed people and great wine, but also with amazing roads.

While paved roads already see very little traffic, the unpaved ones are practically empty. On this tour you can experience New Zealand’s major highlights as well as many hidden, unknown places.

We start in Christchurch, the South Island’s biggest city, and scramble over several unpaved trails and passes all the way to Queenstown. On our rest day there you can visit the world-famous Milford Sound or tackle an adventurous dirt track. Then we head over to the wild West Coast, through – largely – untouched rainforest, past pristine lakes and gushing rivers, alluring gravel roads always within reach.

A ferry takes us to the North Island, to Wellington, where we spend our second rest day. Ride your bike, go sightseeing, enjoy the unique foodie atmosphere, the choice is all yours. Then we go and visit Napier, the Art Deco city, ride around the snow-clad volcanoes of Tongariro and across the rainforest of Te Urewera National Parks, enjoy the countless curves of the Forgotten World Highway and descend into the caves of Waitomo.

Before the tour ends in Auckland, the country’s largest and most important city, we check the Coromandel Peninsula off our list. This miniature New Zealand is known for its beautiful beaches, countless curves, fresh seafood and much more. You certainly won’t find it easy to say goodbye to the paradise down under.
